Had the good fortune back in February 1986 in Baguio, Philippines where I first saw Sammy pose in the 1986 Mr. Southeast Asia body building contest. Months later believe it was November 1987 I met up with Sammy in Olongapo City, Philippines and invited him for breakfast at the former US Naval Base Subic Bay, RP Chief Petty Officers club along with my former boss, US Navy Seabees retired Master Chief Leo Balmes. Don't recall what Sammy ordered, other than I know it was healthy. Obviously both myself and former boss Leo Balms were into the sport of body building like Sammy. Want to say that I can vividly remember the time at breakfast with Sammy and what I recall was how focused he was on both his body building and professional careers. Sammy's posing routine was over the top, he incorporated a few poses from Arnold's routine to develop his own that show cased his mass (caliber), symmetry and vascularity. In closing a huge thank you to his family enabling me an opportunity to write a few words on my memory of a great body builder, "Manong Sammy". Very respectfully,
