I apologize in advance to all pianists 😂 haha, but I had to play this piece. It was an interesting challenge to write this transcription, because this piece has a pedalized musical texture (as it was composed for the fortepiano by a young and passionate Rachmaninoff). Since the accordion does not have a pedal and the tone expires immediately, you have to pedalize the harmonies by long sustained notes in the bass or tenor, just like in an orchestral musical texture or on an organ. As a result, this work on the accordion has a three- to four-voices texture, which makes it impossible (at least for me) to maintain the original tempo. I have chosen a moderate tempo in order to emphasize all the voices, the dynamics and above all, the melody. The most important thing was to bring out and retain Rachmaninov's character. As the name suggests, there are a total of 5 rhythmic patterns that are layered over a 7/8 time signature.The accordion reproduces these aurally, whereby some layers are changed through sound modulation. The dancer then embodies them like a drum-kit using the following street dance styles: ticking, bopping, popping, robot and puppet boogaloo

Poly-Rhythm-Tut is an experimental composition. To understand it, the musician/dancer has to be familiar with the polyrhythm in general. Here the polyrhythm 2 against 3 defines both the music and the dance. The rhythms occur in duets, triplets and 2 against 3 or 3 against 2. The dancer 00:55 makes the rhythm visible through the street dance style tutting. The dancer's arms move to the above mentioned rhythms. Both arms move simultaneously in duplets and triplets, they move against each other in polyrhythms 2 vs 3 or 3 vs 2, it gives the impression of being off beat (only the one is on the beat). The experimental sound is defined by the fact that the real-time recording of the accordion has been atonally modulated by several synthesizers!
