#USArmy #FirstInfantryDivision #BigRedOne #FortRiley #BROSong
2020 Version
Toast of the Army, favorite son!
Hail to the brave Big Red One!
Always the first to thirst for a fight -
No foe shall challenge our right to victory.
We take the field, a grand sight to see,
Pride of the Infantry.
Soldiers of a great division,
Courage our tradition,
Forward the Big Red One!

No, you are simply wrong. It is men, it will ALWAYS be men
Except Women serve as well, so I mean, not ALWAYS.
@@mrorange6660 Don't care, it's men, because thousands of MEN of the Big Red One have died on battlefields all across the planet for the last 100 years, this song honors them, not someone who had to have the standards lowered so they could come play too
@@johnhildenbrand2642 Women serve in the division now, get with the times old man. Things change and this will be one of them. Are women not soldiers or something to you? Do you not respect them?
@mrorange6660 I respect those who are worthy of respect. You certainly are not worthy of it, others may be, but you absolutely are not.
@@johnhildenbrand2642 This isn’t even about me, it’s about the women in the division. Are you that sidetracked? How do you know I’m not worthy of respect? Is it because I’m black?

Men of a great division was a sense of pride because I’d always imagine the Soldiers of WW1/WW2
@1st Infantry Division Band: I don't hate the change to "Soldiers" from "Men", it works pretty well and I understand and agree with the lyric change. But, and maybe it's from my time as a BRO (only combat patch I ever wore, despite earning others), and maybe it's pining for the Army I enlisted into missing my time on Conn Barracks in Schweinfurt, to me the verse "Men of a great division" rolls off the tongue/rhymes/flows better. Miss my time as a Wanguard (those in 1-18 under CSM Choudghri (sp?) know what I'm talking about lol). C 1-18 "Charlie Rock!"
“Men” …. Cuz that’s what makes the infantry… mens … not girls (well, can’t tell no more on this Army under the corrupted UNelected installed like a toilet “president” Biden A Co.1-28 IN
Wow!
Really with the lyric change?
Woke ass song! I've sang the old version at Fort Riley and in Iraq...
Wow, soooo “woke”🤦🏾♂️ Sit down old head
STRONG-TOGETHER--SOUTHWEST MARINE-PEOPLE ARE IMPORTANT!
The Big Bloody One
Fuck these revisions. Fuck identify politics. Fuck fucking with tradition!
It’s a current active Division with more than men serving. Change is good. Nothing about you is traditional at all
My only gripe is why couldn't they find another one syllable word to replace said lyric with? "Troops" would've worked fine it just sounds weird when they try to cram "soldiers" into the last verse
I believe the correct lyric is men of a great division.
It changed
That's why it says "2020, new lyrics" gotta be inclusive and all. lol
A damn shame
Crazy fact but its 2023 and the Army has changed in the last 100 years. Its wild man. The ones usually complaining the lyrics changed, though, generally didn't want women in the Army at all. So fuck em.
You forgot “Men of the Great division!”Oh I forgot the Army is woke now…
They also decreased the infantry numbers, but no one seems to be talking about that.
@@ChangedWinds from what to what?
My god wtf have they done to our song??!! That ending speeds up then slows down like a train wreck.
Gotta love how anything that isn't explicitly hostile to change, progress and inclusiveness is "wOkE" Its 2023. DADT is dead and women can join any MOS in the Army. Anyone who can't adapt can go pound sand.
I’ve sung this many a time on Custer Hill at Fort Riley in the hot Sun or freezing cold! Good times

Wait what?!?!?!
Wtf happened to “men of a great division?” This is horseshit. 1st ID would go woke🤦🏼♂️
Women are now in the division, respect it. At the end of the day, men and women in 1ID are soldiers.
@@JonathonVazquez no shit. Women were in 1st ID a few years ago when I was there. Women have been in 1st ID for decades. PC culture and people like you will always find something to be offended about. PC culture and people like you make America and our military weak. It’s not just about a song, it’s the principle. All people are apart of “MANKIND.” Get over it. Grow up.
@@jeremyi9236 Jesus, if you’re this riled up over the change of “men” to “soldiers” wait until you hear about the artillery batterys in the 1-7FA changing the “pride of the infantry” to “pride of the artillery”
@@jeremyi9236 amen brother!
@@jeremyi9236 The only people who make America weak are the bureaucrats in Washington and people like you who pin the blame on everyone except them. It's a lyric change anyways, shouldn't trigger you that much. Go worry about how a majority of politicians sent to "represent us" are millionaires and how they rarely represent any of our views if you care about our country and military.
This song is still hateful and bigoted as it leaves out seapersons, airpersons, and crayon eaters. Should say “human beings of the great division, courage is our tradition”
Not really, the said above are not soldiers nor are they even part of the 1ID
@@JonathonVazquez joke
@@Rileyahsom jokes are supposed to be somewhat funny tho
@@beerman140 it was a cringe joke, this is coming from a guy that laughs at fart jokes
It's so very ironic that someone with "historian" in their username can't grasp why the US Army and the 1st ID have changed in the last 100 years and are not being as hateful and exclusive as some would apparently prefer.
This song remains hateful and abusive as it uses gendered language that is exclusionary to my fellow sisters serving in the armed forces and the Big Red One.
This updated version of the song fixed that
Its a 78 year old song, and not every class of people needs to be represented in fucking everything.
@@grimmpickens5766 You are correct, there is no need to specifically include every class of people out there. However, the change of “men of a great division” to “soldiers of a great division” isn’t world ending. It’s simply meant to be more inclusive to the female soldiers who now serve under the 1ID, which should be respected.
It was good we changed it but it wasn’t really hateful or abusive before the change it was just outdated.
@@Rileyahsom agreed
So the BRO went woke and changed "men of a great division" to "Soldiers of a great division"? Good job, makes me proud the 1ID submitted to the woke and changed a 78 year old song. Espouse current standards on the standards from 1943.... women were not in the division back then.
Women are part of the division now so it should be respected, at the end of the day both men and women in the 1ID are soldiers so it fits nicely.
This is gay AF. Give it a few years and we will have seapersons and airpersons.
