Living in Crossville Tennessee
Добавлен 24 окт 2011
I am a lifelong resident of Crossville, TN. My husband and I have four children and three fur babies. All of my kids are nationally ranked trap and skeet shooters. When we're not at the shooting range, we love to travel. My husband and I also enjoy building and rehabbing houses. If I have a free minute, you'll usually catch me with a book in my hand.
I graduated from Tennessee Tech University with a BS and MA in education. I have taught math from 7th grade through the college level for almost 20 years, and I been an instructor in math workshops for teachers for 15 years.
I started my career in real estate in 2005. In 2015, I decided to pursue real estate full time. A year later, I had an opportunity to purchase my own firm, and I decided to franchise with Weichert in 2018.
My passion is combining my love of education and my knowledge of real estate to help people with one of the biggest decisions of their lives.

What to Expect from Your Home Inspection
Quit cityfying my Once Small, Country, town!!! We don't want Crossville to be the size of Knoxville or Nashville. Keep It Small!!! Who's with me?
Don't forget NO income tax .
Crooked town run by generations of the same families. If your not from here you aint …..
Crossville is a generational famiies run city that is crooked as hell. This is a crooked place.
As soon as you mentioned the Bible Belt,I wanted to move there. I’ve been looking at moving to any area surrounding Knoxville Tennessee and I’m surprised I haven’t looked at this place yet. Thank you!
What a lovely town. Thank you for your walk around!! Enjoyed this from Virginia!!
I can tell you we really don't need any more people in crossville it getting too crowded, so stay where you are and where you belong
No.
If you want to keep it that way you shouldn’t be making videos like this….
I moved here from NC and I can give you another Con, the local government is typical "Good 'ol Boy" network, nothing gets done unless you're related to somebody in power. Terrible county road maintenance, and not enough fire stations. The waste management is pathetic, county transfer stations that look like dumps and built 70 years ago. The trade off for very low taxes is poor infrastructure and government services. Cookeville/Putnam County is more popular for a lot of reasons.
Very informative!
Easier to follow if you use town names and not county names as I got lost 😮
Oh how depressing looking. The theatre sign & theatre are beautiful. Thank God they didn't get rid of it. Does anyone know how far the next town is that has a town square that isn't spread out & cold looking? There's no one walking. 'It;'s all cars & box stores around it seems
It was a little early, and the sidewalk construction is keeping some people away. There was good activity around Grinderhouse. It is really a nice downtown with almost no empty buildings.
@@sherylwebb thank you for your reply.
We have enough people! Stay in your state! They have ruined cookeville and surrounding communities to many people!!!
If you’re a liberal or progressive, stay where you are, we don’t like your kind
Tennessee has started having trouble with all the new people. There was a stabbing in a campground by people who are from out side. And yes we do get snow, we got about 12 inches a few years ago.
I would also add that this is not a great place to live as a minority. I can't even begin to describe how my minority status negatively affected many aspects of my life growing up there. Diversity is hugely lacking- Diversity not only in race, but in culture and world views. Also, though, once you get old enough to have mental integrity and be able to shrug it off, it's not bad enough to significantly impact your life. Certainly not bad when you compare it to gang related activities of city life. Also, I can verify your statement regarding cost of living. The home I live in now costs the equivalent to maybe 10 homes in Cumberland County. That said, my career could never flourish there either- so I had to leave.
Hi I need a peace of land owner financial!!! Let me know please
I remember the original skating rink. It was terrifying for a young kid. It was small and the hardwood floor was all warped and we were learning to skate. It was full of people and if you fell, you were getting run over - no doubt about it. Ben Franklin and Lays 5 & 10 (5 and dime) were our favorites when we were kids. My dad would take us to eat breakfast at Rexall drugs which I don't think she mentioned. We would always get waffles because we never had those at home. She probably didn't know about Maude's restaurant either. Who remember's Maude's??? Tiny little place with a concrete floor, but the best food and THE BEST rolls. Yum! I think the building is still there - no idea what is in it. I remember standing around the memorial and marching and playing in the freezing rain, snow, etc. It seemed like it was awful terrible weather for Veterans day. I think most of us kids hated that day more than anything. We just didn't understand the significance of it and the bad weather always made it so much worse.
@@jkoucheki, I’ve heard of Maude’s, but I don’t know where it was.
@@sherylwebb If you turn left beside Mitchell's drug store, it would be a very small white building (provided it's still there) on the left. It had it's own parking lot. I believe there is a road that runs downs there beside it on the left. I THINK Roger York's law office used to be or may still be there. I'm not exactly sure about that, but the location is right.
Excellent tour. Thanks. My memories of Main Street include Post Office, Jenkins & Darwin, Brewer's, Dooley's Grocery, Hale's Grocery, Lay's 5*10, train Depot, My Barber Shop, many more. Anyone else recall these? Crossville my hometown, though I left in 1979.
@@feathersax, thank you! I remember those. I don’t think I’ve heard of Jenkins and Darwin. Where was that?
@@sherylwebb Jenkins & Darwin was a department store on the same block as Thurman's Men's Store, K&W Shoe Store & Lay's. It was managed by Leon Vandever, a fine fellow. This old curmudgeon has a good long-term memory but can't find his sunglasses, car keys, cellphone, etc.
Thank you. I miss visiting Crossville
Nice tour of downtown - great job, Sheryl!
@@kathybuechel8076, thank uou!
Left out one piece of information about Crossville. It’s still considered a sundown town. So if you’re a minority be aware that open racism is rampant in Crossville. They still have kkk rally’s. So if you’re looking for a small town feel with a splash of racism then Crossville will give you that small town pre civil rights act feel you’re looking for. It’s a shame that in 2024 we still have sundown towns. It’s an embarrassment to our country.
We're eyeing this place for our move next year trying to get closer to home
@@volcom21d , let me know what questions you have. Would love to help you decide where is right for you.
We've been treated very poorly since moving here and told repeatedly to "go back where you came from". The woefully bad employment and low wages are shameful. Combined with the housing shortage, it has caused an abundance of problems with homelessness and drug addiction. I think Crossville should continue to be sold as a retirement community for people who possess the funds to live comfortably without having to work. But this is not the place for working couples or those with young kids. There are not opportunities for growth or prosperity here, nor are there ample youth programs to keep kids thriving and out of trouble. The number of people who smoke, panhandle, abuse animals, and cut you off in traffic is astounding. Many people choose to live in squalor and most of the county commissioners like it that way, even if they speak a different story. Many want this community to remain lost in time and resent anyone coming in as an "outsider" trying to change things, even when those changes are advantageous to the citizens. I will miss the beauty of the mountains and my quiet acreage, but the southern hospitality has been a myth and much more hostile than welcoming. I pray for the locals who embrace living like this and hope they find happiness, but it will be without my family's contributions. I look forward to returning to my hometown where we embrace and invest in newcomers.
One big reason not to move to Crossville is the dang traffic. Where have these people come from?
I’m a new subscriber. Love the videos and hope to see more. Seriously considering a move to crossville or cookeville next summer.
You hit the nail on the head! If I was younger, I would pick Cookeville. I ended up choosing Crossville because it has a smaller town feel, less traffic, cooler weather/less humidity, and way less tornados.
Does anyone have any information about Lake Breckenridge and why it did not take off like Lake Tansi, which is about minutes away? I believe they were by the same developer.
Not really sure why it didn't take off. Could be that it didn't have a golf course, which has always been one of the biggest draws to Lake Tansi.
@sherylwebb Thanks for your response. I recently inherited an undeveloped plot of land in Breckenridge after my dad's death. Just curious why so many undeveloped plots after all of these years since I am not from the area.
Does anyone have any information about Lake Breckenridge and why it did not take off like Lake Tansi which is about 5 minutes away? I believe there were by the same developer.
Show us th3 downtown M mall and shopping.
I'll work on that.
Crossville is such an underrated part of East Tennessee.
Not sure if I’d agree with your traffic assessment. Of course there’s not much traffic compared with a big city but for a town this size there is more traffic than one might expect. Great video! We’re certainly happy to be here! 😃
Yes it does get cold here always has.
Don't move here. It's been overrun by people from other states and people who don't live here renting their property out to druggies and illegals. Crime has skyrocketed, traffic is horrible, and the good-natured, polite southerners who grew up here are outnumbered. Traitors keep moving here claiming they don't vote blue, but our once great state is being taken over by the blue disease.
What is your contact information, maybe you can help me
What is the cost of living in Crossville TN
The cost of living index is around 85.
Good information!
Does crossville have its own airport? I know a family who are moving to Crossville and I would love to visit them once they get settle in.
We have a small airport. flycrossville.com/
Great video Sheryl! My wife and I absolutely LOVE Lake Tansi. We currently have two properties for sale in the Holliday Out RV Park. One is basically a tiny home and the other a park model rv. Both are on huge beautiful lots, walking distance to the private beach and docks. Keep making great content like this! God bless!
Thank you!
No state income tax.
Yes! That's a huge reason!
Yep, and if you get laid off you get very little in unemployment.
@@melindaunknown6411 my backup plan is never welfare
Tennessee is being destroyed. There are simply too many people moving here!
Awesome
Thank you!
Top Reason you forgot: Buckees!! How the fuck did you miss the top draw of living in Crossville.
Ha! Yes, definitely Bucees!
350k from 300 in one year ;-0
# 999 x 999 x 999.
We visited Crossville several times. It's beautiful
Good video, thank you
I grew up on the Midwest so tornadoes is nothing live in Kentucky now but would move to Tennessee
I would, but 10% sales tax on everything BS. Try Montana, still Trump and Gods country and no sales tax on anything.
