    I agree that it helps to be more accountable. Also, it helps to reflect more. For example, I share metrics publicly in videos, and I am trying to explain why some changes happen. In order to explain it, I need to take a deep dive. Without videos, sometimes I just forget to ask myself these questions

    • @ryanburryy
      @ryanburryy 5 дней назад

      appreciate it! and just pick a language you want to learn, get some basic foundations of how it works from watching a couple tutorials, but don’t spend too long on tutorials bc you can get trapped in “tutorial hell” where you never leave tutorials. so get a basic foundation, then think of something you want to create (simple enough but you have to be interested in it) and then just jump into it and try your build it. you’ll struggle a lot at first, but that’s the best way to learn imo. you’ll have to look up specific solutions to specific problems, but you’ll immediately have something to apply it to.

    A nicer descriptive word would be having "faith" in what you do compared to being "delusional". Yes, there is evidence that 90%+ startups fail within their first year and most owners never see success. However to say nobody is successful through their startup would be false since there's still ~10% of owners who are successful. You can't be delusional because there are still folks who are successful having their own startup, there is evidence of this. Thus, I think having faith is a proper term because you believe you can be successful, you just don't have the evidence to prove you are, yet.

    • @ryanburryy
      @ryanburryy 6 дней назад

      yeah I really like this take, probably a more accurate word to use.

    How did you know what stack would be best for your application? Did you use ChatGPT? Assuming you do use ChatGPT (tbh who isn't) how do you go about using it, do you tell it to guide you through a problem so you learn or just flat out try and get the AI to solve your problems? Lot's of questions there, but love your work keep going at it!

    • @ryanburryy
      @ryanburryy 6 дней назад

      appreciate it! for the stack, I chose what I'm most familiar with (react + supabase). And yeah I use chatgpt, I normally use it to compare / outline approaches for certain things, or if I'm taking too long trying to figure something out I'll throw it in there and see what it says. Sometimes if it's a simple but tedious task, I'll still just toss it in there to save time. I do want to get better at not relying on it too much though

    I think you're just a realist. We talk about this in accelerators quite often. It's a mindset where you acknowledge the challenges, but don't fixate on them. You're cautious of risk, but not afraid. Also, failing is underrated. Just fail better each time and you'll get your GT3 haha. I sold mine a couple of years ago actually! Just missed out on the 997.2s when I got it, wish I waited.

    • @ryanburryy
      @ryanburryy 6 дней назад

      yep that definitely sums it up! yeah you still gotta be calculated, but no point to focus on the negativity. totally agree too, it sucks how much people/society frame “failing” as a bad thing when it’s best way to learn. ah no way 😂 how come you sold it?

    30 year old full stack dev here - I remember being exactly you .. the burning desire to move out to put pressures on myself. So I did. Big regrets. Moving out early did nothing for me in terms of push my in the *right* direction.. instead it simply pushed me in A direction. The direction of least resistance, which short term was awesome.. long term was shit. I made $ fast, I put myself in a stupid amount of debt for little gain. Around 25 years old I rebalanced myself, got a good 9-5 AND built things on the side. Now I make well into 6 figures, have a family, kids, and a house AND still get to build things on the side. Respectfully, if you're struggling to focus now and believe the external factor would "force" you to focus you're headed down a quick path of burnout. Being able to focus is a muscle...Truthfully, you probably just don't focus as well as you think you do :) It's definitely a skill you can TRAIN! Check out some Pomodoro sesh's, they helped my ability to focus and might help you too

    • @ryanburryy
      @ryanburryy 10 дней назад

      really appreciate this Andrew. yeah I think I've come to the conclusion that even if it did spark some motivation initially, it wouldn't last forever and then you'd just be in a worse off situation. Yeah, I definitely could improve my focus, especially when it comes to things I don't want to do but need to do. (e.g. day job) - I never seem to have trouble focusing when it comes down to things I actually want to work on/care about. (I also admit my mindset should change towards the job lol) but yes I agree you can definitely train it to get better, and I actually just turned my old room into a work only work with a separate computer so my brain can start associating that room with the day job only which should (hopefully) help the focus a bit on the job side of things.🤞

I don't think it's something email clients do by default but if the email is part of an organisation (was mostly .edu emails) they often have antivirus and security solutions installed which open the links. I used to take trips to busy cities for work, booking fancy spots to push myself-telling myself, “damn this is nice but I need to make this trip worth it.” It was a great way to stay motivated and helped me build my tech companies. Being in coworking spaces, meeting new people, and just soaking up the city’s energy gave me a big boost, especially since I’m from a quieter regional area. It was a huge turning point in my career, plus having some downtime with a great city view didn’t hurt! Also, we’re using Backblaze for petabytes of data, and it’s been solid so far, especially as we scale. Pricing’s pretty good, though the CLI can be tricky sometimes...
