About Shita-tsuki, it is also "Seiken shita-tsuki" I wrote it without the "seiken" part Where I train karate, they say only: kagi tsuki, shita tsuki or ago uchi.. but sometimes use the Seiken pronounciation aswell

Seiken kagi-tsuki is in good english: rip to pit of stomach Seiken tsuki's are not at all "only" straight punches, you have for example Shita tsuki: low punch towards stomach and seiken ago uchi, chin strike

hehe, we're either talking about different karate styles(Kyokushinkai), or our japaneese is rusty.. but no, It is called Seiken Kagi-tsuki, it is a punch to the kidneys.. as far as I know "Seiken" means fist, at kagi tsuki means punch to the kidneys/liver/below the arms. Seiken Kagi Tsuki is the karate version of a "hook" just that in Kyokushin, they dont allow punches to the head, so the punch is to the kidneys/liver.. but can be used as a hook, to the head.
