sorry - the camera was behind the speaker, so I think the sound isn't ideal.

An absolutely amazing delay pedal. It's been on my pedal board since you built me one and won't be coming off any time soon !
@@stovies5150 that's really nice to hear! ☺️
@@chimpsticks1 I have a few of your pedals and love them all. Thanks Paul
Oh yeah: and do you plan to make any more Deep Blue Delays?
I looked through my parts and I'll get one done 👍

Love those old MIJ Ibanez. Meathead sounds cool, what sort of circuit is it?
It's based on the old coloursound fuzz box. It's very meaty🤣
Your playing is awesome
Ok, no need to take the piss!😂
Great to see you back man! Sounds killer!
Awwww 😊
He returns! Sounds ace
Thank you 😊 the playing is definitely getting worse, it was nice to get the soldering iron out😊
If you turn the gain down with the bias fully CW the octave pops more. Not everywhere on the fretboard.
I'll try that. I remember the rockett wtf doing octave down real well, but I guess it's a lot about transistor selection
great sounding fuzz. i think this might go straight to my to-do-list :) did you use the transistors and diods from the dirtboxlayout? or something else?
Yes I used all the parts suggested on dirtbox. The 109c was about 500, and the 3n906 was around 350
@@chimpsticks1 awesome, thanks
Are these up on Ebay Ian ?
I wasn't planning on eBaying anything, just dipping my toe back into building to see if I could remember how to do it 🙈. I might build and sell the odd thing if someone really wanted something, and it's something I feel confident is good.
Cool. I noticed you hadn't put anything up for a while. Sounds great btw 👍🏻
Крутая примочка! Вперёд!
Sounds like a $400 transparent overdrive to me, Ian. 🤓 Seriously tho - I think you built it correctly, at least according to the layout on Dirtbox. It sounds just like the kind of thing that mayer-riffing-doodz use.🤷
And I totally support being picky on OD circuits. The only two boxes that I've kept around on my board after all these years are the boost setting on the BJF baby pink at the very beginning of my chain and DBA interstellar OD further down the line. Everything else I've built or bought doesn't stand a chance.
Now I'm wondering what to put in the enclosure?🤣 I'm leaning towards the cloven hoof
@@capitalistdeathculteffects It's funny isn't it because I plug in a nice Fuzz, and it's pure joy, but most of the overdrives I try, I hear erroneous unpleasant sounds mixed in there. Well done making a DBA circuit work for you! 🤣 Maybe try the tube bender - you might like it!
@@chimpsticks1 the DBA OD sounds more like a tweed amp turned almost all the way up as opposed to an "overdrive" - and ah yes, the "now that I've drilled the box, what to do with it?" dilemma? The struggle continues✊
Man I do the OCD knobs thing on a strat all the time. 😩
We are mere slaves to our compulsions 🤣
So 10 months later hows the pu holding up?
Just fine..I like these
how did you modded it?
Hi there. It's 3 capacitors off the top of my head. If you look it up on dirtbox layouts it's discussed in the comments section. 👍🏼 Let me know if you can't find it 👍🏼
Hi that's a great sound coming from it. Sounds Full when dirt kicked in. By the way, does it still retain the quack when on position 2 cleans?
It does - I have a video of another pacifica with a p90 in the bridge and it definitely retains the in-between sound 👍🏼
Rad. I love it when bass players play the bass like a guitar.
Love these guys
Have you contacted Alex about it? I'm sure if it's faulty he'd replace it for you, or offer advice on how to remedy if install related rather than build related.
The only reason this video is here is because they asked for evidence for the return/refund. I got a Warman which is fantastic.
@chimpsticks1 Ah great they offered to replace/refund. Just bought an Old Timer Fat Boy from them so hopefully I'll have better luck. Glad you like the Warman!
@@robertbaldwin177 if you check my next video you can see the Warman
@chimpsticks1 I found your Squire Mustang Fuzz MOD vid. It's a Squire Sonic Mustang I'm planning to stick the Old Timer Fat Boy humbucker sized P90 into. With a Vanson Alnico 2 57 PAF in bridge. Plus upgrade to 500k pots. I've no idea if this combo will sound any good but here is hoping.
@@robertbaldwin177 I'm sure it will 👍🏼 my favourite mod on the Mustang was converting the bridge to a 3 saddle. Google the "bubba mod"
I've had one of these since 2007 and I don't think I would want to get rid of it, maybe ever. I've seen in forums that not too many people like the Lead channel, but I do. That Vintage mode is nice for rhythm, and High-Gain mode is where I go for soloing. Nice sturdy little guy, and quite loud too!
Hey man, I have this pedal now! It's good fun!
It's always been one of my favourites and I don't have one! When I get back to making pedals I'll do myself one. Enjoy 😊
How’s the amp for pedal platform ? Wanted something small that’s very clean but could take pedals didn’t know of the small frame and speaker held it back much ?
I think this amp works best as a pedal platform. if you get the chance to get one for a good price you should jump on it. I like it on the clean channel with any overdrive/fuzz
Looks very clean. How do you secure the board to the case? I use hot glue :)
Hi. I used neoprene tape inside the case to make some height and then hotmelt onto the neoprene
loved the "aaah" :D
Hi, Ian ! I think I may have inherited this one via eBay (assuming that's your enclosure, not something generally available). I ADORE it but the problem is so does my bandmate - who really wants one. I don't suppose you've got it in you to make another? It's waaaaaaaay beyond my abilities. Huge best, Robin.
Hey man! I remember this one! It was definitely interesting and pretty out there! I've had take off a bit of a hiatus from building. I might be able to get back in the game at some point soon. I'm really glad this pedal is out there and seeing some use! Enjoy and kind regards 😊
Just watching this...I should have kept it for myself! ruclips.net/video/fPCtXkGVQ30/видео.htmlsi=0VGrD3Y-pQ5O9Pcr I remember finding it a bit hard to keep the wiring neat with these. It was quite a lot to shoehorn in which is an OCD trigger for me 🤦🏼♂️ This is the second pedal of mine I've heard about on eBay recently. I used to sell them pretty cheap...I hope you got a good deal.
@@chimpsticks1 I'm honoured to have it - even though, for the LIFE of me, I can't figure out what anything actually DOES (even with your videos)! If you do dip back in at any point, I'm definitely interested. Let me know :)
Hi I did. 👍🏼 I think I sold this one to BK pedal reviews(?). It's essentially a woolly mammoth with lower value input/output capacitors to allow more treble through. I kept one the same for me and really like it. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions 👍🏼
Awesome. Yeah this is the one then, BK Pedal Reviews is where I got it. Swapped some pedals with him for some.other stuff he wanted to review. Have you got an email address or facebook where I can message you privately?
@@simonrobertfrain6823 yeah sure. My email is iansheridan1978 👍🏼
Hi, i think i now own this exact pedal from this video. Did you build it?
Sounds huge and has such a good tone.
Thank you sir
Definitely interesting
Oof, great tone. Killer look, too. Want one of these pretty bad.
The clean channel on these is really good. Really nice tones. I had a silver stripe and a red stripe, the red stripe sounds better in my opinion. The reverb isn't working on mine, I'd like to fix it.
Its nearly always the tray. The stock ones aren't great to start with, so it's definitely worth fitting a new one
@@chimpsticks1 Ok thanks I'll look into that.
Is this a clone of the "The Swamp Thang" by Monster Effects ?
Hi. I think so. I think the swamp thang was based the Diaz tremadillo which was probably based on the old colorsound tremolo. This was a layout from tagboard effects. There's also a swamp thang layout on dirtbox layouts that I've built and prefer. There's video demos somewhere on my list.
Thank you. I am wondering if you sell these pedals ? I am also interested in the earthquake tentacle octave pedal you have in one video.
@@RayB.I hi. I had to take a hiatus, but hoping to maybe get building again one day. I always recommend people have a go at building. It's very rewarding, and good fun. I found the improved swamp thang here.... ruclips.net/video/TdW7oIgTMi0/видео.htmlsi=H6e-itol3BurTtNL
Okay. I see the schematics ? But can I buy the kits somewhere ? Including all the components ?
@@RayB.I I'm not sure about kits... I just used to buy the parts and make the circuit on veroboard. What country are you in? If UK/europe you could try das musiking?
Look sick goddamn, googled demos cause I found the circuit interesting and I end up looking at a work of art great job dude !
Really amazing (and underrated) overdrive. I used dirtbox layouts, and it's great. I have one on my band board. It's always on 👍🏼
Reckon this could do with an input level control in the front of the circuit? I'm thinking of building one with this layout…
If you've got the knowhow go for it! From what I remember it's totally guitar volume control sensitive. It almost works better when the guitar volume is backed right off.
@@chimpsticks1I'm just not very adept at using my guitar's volume when playing live so if I can keep it maxed out and just set it to where i want it on the pedal before it enters the main circuit, that might be cool :)
@@weareheyalamo that sounds like a good idea for this circuit
Hey Ian. Any idea which model MOD tank you've put in? Need to replace mine
Hi. According to the schematic the tank part number is 71011114 which equates to the accutronics number 4EB2C1B, which is a long, 2 spring, medium decay tank. You can use a long or short tank, 2 or 3 springs, medium or long delay. I've used a 8EB3C1B, but it's pretty over the top, long trail. A 3 spring medium decay might be more sensible.... www.hotroxuk.com/mod-8eb2c1b-reverb-tank-rohs-compliant.html
@@chimpsticks1 cool thanks for this. The verb is sounding particularly lush there!

Just a question to clear up something for me: the model you have is the red-striped which has the peavey logo and transtube in the front. Could it be purely cosmetic that one manufactured in China (which later the red line were?) does not have the front with the logo and series? Does it say made in china on the back above your speakers? Just asking as I am looking to buy one used but comparing.
Hi. Mine is made in China. Hope that helps
Just bought the same guitar about a month ago and really blown away by how good it is. The only thing im gonna change is the pickgaurd to black, just ordered it and it's on the way. Great video and I really enjoyed your playing, well done😊
Thank you kindly ☺️
What's your EBay name Are you still making these?
Hi there. I've taken a bit of a break while i get my life together a little bit. I'm really keen to get going again at some point. There's a bunch of circuits I want to make for myself!🤣
Love the tone. Curious if you're sure that's a hilo'tron and not a super hilo'tron? Just trying to get a good handle on what hilo'trons sound like
Hi it's the old style single coil Hi-Lo tron 👍🏼
@@chimpsticks1 nice. Thanks for the reply.
@chimpsticks1 Is it the TV Jones version? I'm interested in buying whichever one youve got in there. Thats the tone I've been sesrching for
@@cj5060 hi there. It's the modern gretsch one that they currently sell. I was really happy with it and it loved fuzz
Ian, it's a great!! Can you give me the precise references of this guitar please?
I'm Sorry - I don't understand
you're just making noise... play something to show the amps abilities... if you can't play... then give up making demo videos, because this one sucks.
Gday Ian. Nice presentation. I made this pedal today on your advice. I like it alot. I think its worth me spending some time on the clipping. I tried a few different LEDs and Im liking yellows best, they sounded a little smoother. Ill try silicon diodes and transistors tomorrow. I have some varieties of germanium diodes coming aswell. I liked the noise/low bit sound of a single orange LED. Think Ill try and find a small rotary switch for the clipping components. Anywhos, thanks for the heads up.
Awesome 👍🏼👍🏼
Very nice build. I built the same as yours posted on Dirtbox layouts. I tried it with single coils, HB's and Jazzmaster pickups. Best for me was with the Jazzmaster circuit engaged with the tone completely rolled off.
Now try the rotten apple!
@@chimpsticks1 I just watched your video and had a look at the circuit. Im pretty sure I have most parts so looks like Ill be taking your advice. Cheers.
@@Slappedkat it's an awesome circuit. It seems to have much more gain and the EQ switch is a real boon. I've built a bunch and love them.
@@chimpsticks1 Thanks for the heads up, Ill get started tomorrow
i love the artwork on your pedals ! i'm thinking of building this one next
I really like them. The chips are getting a bit hard to find. Watch out for too much boost/powerful humbuckers before them as they can distort if too much is going in (they're fine with fuzz/distortion etc)
You mentioned in a video that you were selling pedals. Please contact me!
Hey, I found your channel because of a post over at dirtboxlayouts and was wondering whether you could help me out with some tipps about the singing tree pedal?
Did you use 2n2222s in this?
Hi there. I used PN2222, mpsa18, and 2n3906. I used the dirtbox layouts strip board layout. I also made some using the big box spec. Each one sounded a bit different but all were nice.
