unironically furries have existed ever since people thought to anthropomorphize animals and it's honestly hilarious to me (as a furry) especially seeing as, percentage-wise, furries are less horny than they've ever been- a giant chunk of the community is actually on the asexual spectrum, myself included. it's hilarious too that the sexual stuff is the first stereotype people think of and not just how absolutely unhinged the fursuit making process is and how many furries have at least some working knowledge of it. they used to make fursuits 30 or so years ago largely through using plastic mesh instead of the modern-day foam, but the problem was, the plastic mesh got brittle as it aged, meaning any impact to the fursuit could shatter the plastic. literal shrapnel bomb fursuit. and that's not even getting into practices that are still used in the modern day lol
