Three hundred forth paragliding solo flown from the North Launch on Tiger Mountain. First flight on a GIN Bonanza 3 that I've been sitting on for over a year. Doesn't feel much different than the GIN Explorer 2 from a handling perspective. More responsive, which may be due to a combination of the slightly higher aspect ratio and the fact that I'm better positioned in the weight range on this wi...

      I often laugh at the little things that the camera picks up. That deep breath is reflexive and present on almost every flight. Thanks for the note and for taking an interest in my woefully under-edited and arguably boring videos.

    Pro tip: don't look at the wing all the time. It's there, it won't go anywhere, leave it be. It's super disorientating and distracting looking up and not were you are going.

    Squeaked in there mate ,,, I'm not familiar with the area, but is there a reason you didn't climb in the lift ? is there no where to go xc if you get high ?

    • @tmhoole
      @tmhoole Год назад

      There are places one can go XC from here (quite a few actually). I just wasn't planning on doing an XC that evening and typically like to coordinate with at least one other pilot to fly together when I do venture out. Appreciate the comment. If you haven't flown on Tiger Mountain in the Seattle area, it's definitely worth adding to your list of destinations.

    • @SimonPerkins
      @SimonPerkins 2 года назад

      It's a variometer (Vario). Tells you how fast you're going up or down. So, speed, yes, but vertical rather than horizontal.

    Thomas I live South of Seattle and never did know that Tiger Mountain had Paragliding. What is the cost to learn it?

    • @tmhoole
      @tmhoole 2 года назад

      Hi LK- sorry I 'm so late in responding to your question. Here is a link to the school which describes the student program (www.seattleparagliding.com/become-a-pilot). The student fee is $2,950, which includes lifetime instruction/coaching. You'll do three or four tandem flights with an experienced pilot to learn the basics of setting up a landing. You'll also spend a few days on the training hill learning how to bring the wing from a ready position on the ground to inflated and flying over head, and learning how to properly load and accelerate the wing until it begins to fly. This is done on a low slope so you'll get only a few feet above the ground, but will learn the mechanics of the wing. When ready (could be as soon as a few days in if you learn quickly) you'll do your first solo under the direct supervision of a qualified instructor who will communicate with you via radio. See the website for a better description and all the details. It's a great program, and flying....there's nothing like it.

      There was a reply posted by someone else before I replied. I just deleted it because absolutely none of it was accurate (I'm saying it nicely). Check out the link. If you're interested, stop by the school in Issaquah. You'll never regret it.

      That was a streamer that all low flight-count students have attached to their harness or wing to let others know that they are still learning. Kind of like the "Student Driver" stickers you see on cars that are used to train people to drive. ;) Sorry it took me so long to reply.
