Its always great to run up on a vintage item at a bargain price. Thanks for watching BGB!
211 is it possible to get this saw now somewhere??
@@marcuslc7985 this saw is still listed in the Stihl website at a cost of $339.99. It is not unusual to see them available on places like Facebook marketplace. I saw one on EBay for about $230. I got mine in a trade for firewood. I find that patience is a great tactic…there is a bargain out there somewhere if I don’t get into a big hurry. I would check with a local Stihl dealer as well. Another great resource is any small engine repair shop. Those people often know of saws for sale. Thanks for watching BGB.
@@baldguybasics7584 I had this saw in Lithuania from local shop and it was completely the best for me, now at my country website this item is gone. How can I order it to my country?
@@marcuslc7985 unfortunately, I have no idea how you can navigate that particular challenge. Sorry.
My rule of thumb on any Amazon purchase is I add the four star and five star reviews together if they add up to 80% or more I usually buy it if it has less than 10 reviews I look for something with more reviews.
@@robc8468 not a bad approach! I am finding that more and more companies are 'padding' their reviews…so one does have to be careful to interpret those reviews carefully. Thanks for watching BGB!
@@baldguybasics7584 I have seen this too if it is too close to 100% with near zero negative complaints and very little if any specific information in the reviews or a lot of reveiws with stars and few or no words that is a red flag also.
Hey friends! I had a great time using the Adler axe yesterday. We were hit by an ice storm (Jan '25), and I had a tone of pine branches break on our property. I used the Adler to trim off some of the limbs and to shorten some of the downed branches. This thing really showed its worth! It went through 1-2 inch branches on the 1st swing, and I was able to chop through 4-5 inch branches with ease. I am even more pleased than ever with the Adler! (The BaldGuy)

Excellent review because i can confirm every word as accurate. I too just bought one from Amazon, same brand and packaging. I too have exact same results. I would not recommend either. But, i will also try to make adjustments to see if it can be improved.

Thank you for better explaining how to “steam out” dings in a wooden gunstock. I have watched many other RUclips videos that failed to do that. I recently purchased a 2nd hand coach gun on line from a company that creates them from old SxS shotguns. It arrived functional but very ugly (stockwise). As you mentioned at the end of your video it would be advisable to remove the stock from the steel before attempting your technique. Kindest regards 😉!

@@baldguybasics7584 Sort Answer: It worked & was worth the money! Long Answer: I wore a hole along the passenger side support rail on the bottom of the hard lined leaf catcher, aprox 2" × .5" after 8 hours of sweeping at < 3 mph & crossing a 2 lane driveway aprox 30×. The passenger front corner of the bagger's metal frame has the hole. If the catcher was designed with wheels this could have been avoided (planning my own mods). Perhaps the metal frame tipped down to 1 side after assembly, I neglected to eyeball it or check it with a level because i was in a rush. It rained 2 days before & my acre in Wisconsin is surrounded by old growth oaks/maples/pines. I didn't have the luxury of waiting for the leaves to dry because the city will remove all the fall yard waste a few days before Halloween, which was 24 hours away. I got the All Fit brand from Home Depot, which was the only brand available without pre-ordering 7 days in advance. Waiting on a pay day didn't allow for pre-ordering. I had set the sweeper to just before the lowest setting to sweep my yard which is 50% grass & 50% moss with a fine silt/sand dirt composition. Not going to lie, in the bare areas of the yard I had large amounts of dust getting kicked up at me from under the front of the sweeper. Sometimes when the leaves were too thick the wheels on the sweeper would stop moving, which of course stops the sweeping action. So I'd back up a bit & get a running start at the + 6" tall pile again. I expected loss of grip to happen to the sweeper drive wheels in the wetter areas with load in the hopper. I expected the same when driving over heavy leaves for the first few sweeps. What i didn't expect is traveling sideways across a 5% grade, the empty sweeper kicked out downhill & the wheels would lock up on dry compacted fine soil. I was very mindful that the silt i was sweeping up would be heavier than the leaves & didn't allow the hopper to get more than 25% full. With just leaves/pine needles i only allowed to fill the sweeper hopper to 30 - 50% because I didn't want to wear out the bottom of the hopper that drags on the ground. My guess is if the leaves had been dry i wouldn't have needed to be dragging the hopper on the ground with a lower, more aggressive sweeper action. I did go across the problem areas on the way to new areas to resweep what debris was problematic. Some areas took 10 × more sweeping than others. Dumping the hopper while sitting on the riding mower, preventing the seat kill switch from activating, required a fair amount of strength in not only the arms (triceps) but the abdominal muscles as well. I'd basically do a tricep pulldown with a simultaneous ab crunch to get the weighted hopper dumped. I didn't mind that little work out though. In the end I had a pile of leaves the length, width, & height of a stretched limo. The sweeper is a wonderful tool, & i will gladly do what needs to be done to maintain it.
I can certainly empathize with the eyesight issues. With corrective lenses, I cannot see through the scope. But cant see without lenses using iron sights. Furthermore, it is often difficult to determine the points on the rack even with lenses. So Ive taken a hint from your hack on the tools and have begun painting the number of points on the buck's rack on both of his hindquarters in white. Easy to see at 150 yards. Boom! Problem resolved!

What's up Bald Guy.. I need your expertise. I have this 12" top handle neotec. But I need to replace the spring that's on the left side of bar ,right under the off switch, going through the chain brake. Would you happen to know where I can order that piece from ?
@@kintsugimaybe-tg7pt this is my first Neotec as well. I deal with a seller on EBay, he goes by Neotec Saws. He is out of California and has been pretty helpful for me. The problem with Neotec is they don’t have any local dealers. That being said, it seems that many of their saws are clones of big name brands (Stihl, Echo, Husqvarna). If you can figure out which saw they copied, OEM parts are compatible. The next option would be to check with someone that has a small engine repair shop. If you try messaging the eBay seller, take a picture of the part and include it with your message. Sorry I can’t be more helpful. BGB
I’ve never had a problem killing weeds. I always mix 2 sometimes 3 different brands of ground clear and weed and grass killer. One brand may not have everything it will take to control everything you’re needing to control. I also never follow directions to a T. I mix more chemical than manufacture suggests. Yeah I know they know what they are talking about, but they don’t know my yard and what I have to deal with. From poison ivy, oak or sumac to unwanted wisteria, mimosa trees, invasive Bradford pears, creeping myrtles, unwanted saplings and more. Not to mention moss growing between buildings that have rocks. Weed eating is exhausting and hard on one’s body when rocks are being slung at you from weed eating. Been mixing this way over 6 years. It’s also aggravating when a product claims to kill up to 3 to 6 continuous months. Again manufactures aren’t in yards all day every day. What works for them may not work for someone else.

Thanks for watching an old fat bald guy learning new tricks! BGB
Nice video, thanks for posting. One thing to note about different axe/wood-cutting tool companies is the type of trees in the country that they're from. So for example Gransbruk & Hultafors are Swedish and the majority of forests in Scandinavia have a different tree-species mix than you might find further south in Europe such as in Germany, Austria, France etc. Old-school traditional axe-making companies made their axes to suit local/regional conditions. So whilst people might rave about Granfors axes, the trees in your local area might be better tackled with a slightly different axe such as by Adler or Rinaldi etc.
@@citizenwolf8720 well said! I totally agree. I have different tools that fit specific kinds of wood/trees, and even different chainsaws for different trees. My dad bought this saw brand new in 2011. We dont use it much, only about 60 to 80 hours yearly but since 2011 we havent had a single fault or failure with it. Everything is extremely sturdy, only problem with it is when it sits for a while the oil leaks out of it but when you drain the oil it isnt too bad. Do you have any views on the new 212 c-be stihl? Can’t find much info on it yet - as it is newer I believe
I have no experience with the 212, but it appears to be a tweak of the 211’s design. I read that some of the 211s had issues leaking oil and some were poorly adjusted in terms of carbonation, but I haven’t experienced any trouble with mine. I was cutting a downed hickory with mine a few days ago and did a fair bit of work above shoulder height, and I was reminded just how handy these lighter weight saws are! Thanks for watching.
Looks like a handy tool. I use something similar called a Hula Hoe.
I was very pleasantly surprised and impressed! Thanks for watching BGB
This works so much better than the hula hoe I have used for so many years. The Skidger can go under the fence line, my drop lines and not damage them, etc. I use this for SO many things now. Dandelions out from the middle of the grass without damaging the grass. Thistles are taken out in short order. Thanks, Skidger!
@@wayneanderson2628 The Skidger looks more substantial than the hula hoe
We had the 025 at home, but now I saw this one on bazar for just 150€. Well I'm probably going for it!
I was cutting a hickory tree this week, and the 021 was still the main saw I used. At my age I appreciate the lighter weight when cutting limbs that were above shoulder height. Thanks for watching BGB
I love mccullochs, own 2 PM 310s and a Euromac S41, i am painfully hipster so i really didin't care for stihl because it is so popular, that was until recently. I got a fire damaged -94 021 (same year as the S41) and i must say the build quality is remarkable, the plastics felt really nice, the throttle lock/choke is really nice, the ergonomics are great, and best of all, it starts easily runs well despite being burnt so badly that the chain oil tank has a hole in it. Now maybe it is because my Macs spent a decade being abandoned in such conditions where the cylinders seized but atleast this Stihl saw is also lovely to work on and repair
Back in the day I had an Echo and a HomeLite… but once I went with a Stihl nothing else compares (for me). Thanks for watching BGB
I bought the Matrix kit a few weeks ago for $180 because I was trying to replace the blades on my riding mower and couldn't get either of the nuts off. I never used an impact driver before, but I knew I needed one to get the job done. I have a 3 year old $49 B&D drill that's way underpowered for anything beyond the basics, but it uses the same 20V batteries, so I was incentivized to stay in the B&D ecosystem and came across this. As a fairly new homeowner collecting an arsenal of tools, I think getting 6 tools in one with the modularity to add more tools for cheap, plus gaining an extra battery for both drills, is a pretty good deal for the price. When I tried the impact driver on the blades, at first I thought something was wrong because I expected to feel some kickback in the drill and holding the blade with my hand. It felt almost identical to my other drill with the clutch at 1. Once I gave it a few more seconds, they each started to come loose. I'm very impressed, though that's more with respect to impact drivers in general than this particular model. I've yet to find a use for the other tools, but I know I will sooner or later as I come up with projects.
I’m on the same page with you. It may not have industrial power, but it does what I need it to do. Thanks for watching BGB.
Nice video - I had to do this last week on my BSA and my HW97 (Think you US fellas call 'em Beemans?)
Thanks for watching BGB!
Good video - I need to do something similar to my BSA airrifle beech stock. I was concerned about whether I needed to sand it down first (don't want to do that) . Thankyou
As long as there are no broken fibers in the wood, this method is pretty effective...it just takes time. Thanks for watching BGB!
I just realized that I did not respond to your question about sanding the stock down. Under normal circumstances, I would say no. I got a number of dents out of the stock that I used in the video without sanding it. The heat did not cause any discoloration or damage to the finish and I was very pleased. However, the rifle had some broken fires as I mentioned so I did ultimately send it down, but it is not necessary for a simple dent.
