We must bear in mind that India was the prime jewel in the British Crown and they treated differently from other colonial areas like east Africa, Africa, South, Africa, Africa, and Singapore. Comparatively the Indians had a better time than the others along with Singapore. It is also a part of history that when the British came to India, there were more than 30 countries/ independent states and the British were able to follow the policy of divide and rule and conquered the entire India in 100 years something which had not been done by any other Indian ruler earlier. Law and order during the days when India had the small countries was very bad, you could not even travel from Ambala to Calcutta because of the thugs and dacoits. All these were eradicated by the British and the country made safe. That is a crucial point.. Of course they were the imperial rulers and as rulers, they had the rights like the moguls and other Muslim rulers.

In a 100 years they conquered entire India and in 1857 India was a crown colony. They did a lot of development but all was not for their own good.
