Blue Hour to Night 85mm POV Street Photography
Blue hour was here so I decided to grab my Viltrox 85mm and get some POV Street Photography into the nighttime! I haven't shot in a while so it wasn't the easiest of shoots!

Street Photography with a £1 Film Roll

I bought a roll of film from a charity shop for £1. I couldn't believe my luck but at the same time, I had no idea if it was expired, how it had been kept and if it was going to be any good...So I did what any photographer would do and shot it anyways! APSC or full frame?
You missed out on some great shots. The ruins carved wall at the start, the building to the right of the merc, the stature with a roof line behind
Even more reason to get back out and shoot again! That’s the best thing about street photography, we always see something new
The best camera is the camera you have with you!
It’s not always the camera, it’s what you make with it that counts 👌
are you on Shutter Priority? thanks
Yea it was shutter priority, one of my favs for street photography 👌
I was close to getting this lens, in the end I bought the Sony 24/105
The 24-105mm is a great lens, awesome all-rounder! Hope you get some awesome shots with it! 👌
Thankssss !!! I was having doubts before buying it 😅❤
You’re welcome, hope you have fun shooting with it! 🙌
An interesting and thought provoking video. I liked the idea of going along on an actual photo shoot--spontaneous rather than posed. The background music was unnecessary and annoyng,
Thank you, I think sometimes the spontaneous shoots sometimes have the more interesting results. That’s understandable, music isn’t for everyone, it’s just a handy editing tool and from my musical background something I quite enjoy having 🤷♂️
Where you back in time at work..😄
Yea just about! Like cutting it fine! 😂
😍
Those are some awesome shots!
Thank you! Love a foggy shoot! 🙌
Is Grand theft I found this video because I just bought a used copy of this lens and it looks virtually unused so I'm interested in learning how to use it because so far, I'm bad at it.
It’s great you’ve got hold of one! I think it just takes a bit of time to get used to it and using layers in your scene really helps too! Just watch out for that distortion! 👌
What is represented by the blue and yellow flag on the castle?
It was support for Ukraine I think at the time
@@Allikkx: I recognize the flag now I recognize that a little bit after I posted this but then I forgot where I posted it.
Haha that’s okay, I do that all the time too
You Hot🔥🔥📸📸
5.44😍
Thank you 🙏
I reckon your shots probably have more artistic value than those from the 50mp fuji guy :). I have yet to load mine with film ......looking forward to it after being inspired by your work...
Thank you! I really appreciate it! ✌️ It’s a great little camera, just an easy to use, fun and refreshing shoot! Got a plan for mine in the works! Have fun shooting it!
we would love to watch some photography on iphone 15 pro max by your hands
I’d love to do that too! Sadly I don’t have the iPhone 15 Pro Max! 😂😩
@@Allikkx sad 😢
Wow😮😮 is it on a7s2 sony, sir
Yea it was on my Sony A7S ii, it’s old but it works!
Photographer embraces the Reto, instant like. I liked how nobody paid a blind bit of notice to you, would that have been the same with a slr set up? Not sure
Yea nobody paid any attention at all, if I’d have had my SLR then I think I’d have been spotted more. Just a great little pocket carry camera!
Beautiful work!! Does this camera do well with 36-pose films? On the old ultra wide vivitar identical to this one I had problems with 36 film.
Thank you! I have read people saying they’ve had issues but I’ve put a few rolls of 36 expo through it and never had an issue…maybe I was lucky?! 🤷♂️
What was your edit on the just eat guy?
At that point I usually just did some dodging and burning using masks in Lightroom - selected the guy and the bike and adjusted exposure and shadows/highlights, maybe added a bit of clarity then darken the background slightly to make him stand out. After that just adjusting colours to what I liked and suited the scene - not a massively heavy edit! 🙌
@@Allikkx Really helpful, thanks.
@CalebCarterFilm no problem at all! 🙏
I just ordered mine on eBay today.
Ahhh man, good luck with it! Hope you have fun shooting with it! 🙌
🔥🔥🔥
❣
Apart from the great angles and composition, your post processing is praiseworthy too. It deepens the photos.
Thank you! I do love a good edit, editing videos never do that well though! 🤷♂️😂
Ótimo video, gostei muito de passear contigo nesse belo lugar... as fotos ficaram incríveis... Parabéns por tudo e obrigado por compartilhar.
Thank you! I appreciate that, it really can be a great place to shoot! Always good when a place like this is on your doorstep 👌 glad you enjoyed the video
Hey there, i have the same lens, and its a beauty for me because of his weight and simplicity. i would love to have the new 20-70 but im very happy with the Zeiss. It gives you a different way of thinking the gear. You dont always need to have the best. Stay safe and make some videos! love your style and humor. Cheers from Argentina
Exactly that! 🙌 sometimes a lens just has to be easy to pick up and do a good job! There’s always a tonne of lenses I’d love but something like this lens always ends up being the handy all-rounder. Thank you so much, I really appreciate you saying that! I’ll get on the making! 🙏
what camera is it?
It’s my Sony A7S II
I appreciate you making a video about this lens.
You’re welcome, hopefully you found it a little useful or interesting 🙏
Can you do a test video with this lens?
I did think about doing one but there are just soooo many on RUclips! 😂
Now this video made me consider using my 10-18mm with my Canon 80D. I always find it difficult to use as the sky's always blown out or the landscape is so dark. I'm going to give it a try.
Definitely worth giving it a go! It’s a tough balance, too bright a day and it’s easy to lose the sky! Good luck! Hope it goes well for you!
I know its not a lot of money, but I heard from several reviewers that the ultra wide seems to refer to the lens and the slim to the viewfinder, as it apparently cuts out around 30% (15% each) of the picture. Was that also your experience?
I mean I didn’t know that so I can’t say I was particularly looking out for it. In all honesty I don’t really read too deep into reviews, 30% is a lot but in real terms don’t remember picking up the camera and thinking the viewfinder crop was an issue 🤷♂️ if it was my everyday go to camera I could see that being a problem, but for a quick and cheap point and shoot it didn’t make much difference to me
@@Allikkx Ok, thanks. I am also debating on that: Like, pre-internet era we never hat numerous reviews where people talked about flaws and we just bought an item because it looked good in the store LOL But if it didn't bother you when shooting I think its okay for fun.
@lelandfitz1762 yea 100% but a camera you like the look of and hope it performs okay! Honestly for a fun, film point and shoot it really is more than okay 👌
Nice!
Thanks!! 🙏
Great pictures! Just wondering, how come you use the a7sII (more dedicated to film), and not the a7rII (more dedicated to photo). Not that it really matters, the result is great.
Thank you, I originally picked up the A7sii for video, but found that the low light capability of the camera blew me away and I just don’t need the larger resolution, I don’t print, crop drastically or anything that I need the higher resolution image for right now…maybe one day though
@@Allikkx thanks!
You mentioned to guess your favorite photo I am going to bet on the white dove bird I know that was my favorite lol
Yea that was one of them for sure, it just came out really clean 👌 it was that or the first one (but probably just because it was the first time I’d try to edit something like that)
Спасибо за видео, было интересно!)
You’re welcome! Glad you found it interesting 🙏
What’s the song
It’s called ‘No Scrubs’ - Unlike Pluto, Joanna Jones
Thanks for the info! very entertaining as well
Thank you! Glad you liked it and got something from it
Oh, back to my 2016 with totally same setup))
Not a bad little setup at all! 👌
You have to practice ! I also had trouble with this. But from a video the guy said you have to start from the lights (whites) dragging them into the darks ! I've never been so frustrated in my life taking pic.s so you not alone 💯 😂😂😂!! Keep snapping 👍!!
Yea practice definitely makes better, I definitely think it’s worth experimenting though just because it’s fun and new! 🙌 glad I’m not alone in that one! 😂 you too! 👍
Keep it up mate!
Promo sm
I’m wondering if this Zeiss produces that unique Zeiss look…in terms of colour rendering and micro contrast?
I mean I can’t say I particularly noticed colour rendering or micro contrast, but then, I wasn’t really looking for it. Maybe Christopher Frost has a more technical review of it?
This is kind of a rare type of videos. Using a a7sii for photography. Glad to see that, I just picked one up relatively cheap especially for low light photography 😊 mainly being a fuji x fanboy, using a x-h1
Well I did originally buy it for video and low light but it turned into my main camera so now I just use it for everything! They’re pretty budget friendly too which is always good 😊 ohh the X-H’s are lovely cameras 👌
Great composition
Thank you! It’s fun to compose with a ultra wide angle! 🙌
Whats your recipe?
I used Fuji X weekly’s recipe, it’s the Portra 400 V2 for the X-Tans 4 sensor so you can’t do exactly the same recipe cause of the option you have in the X100T but a bit of tweaking got it close enough to count I think 😂
@@AllikkxShare your recipe 😁
Okay, it needs tweaking slightly based on the light but: Classic Chrome Dynamic Range: DR400 Highlight: -1 Shadow: +2 Color: -2 White Balance: Custom, +2 Red & -5 Blue ISO: Auto up to ISO 3200 Exposure Compensation: +1 to +1-1/3 (I was using the older sensor in the X100T)
how many custom user presets does the Fujifilm X100T have so I can assign film recipes to each custom user preset, I want to get recipes for Kodak and illford so I can put them in the custom user presets, I know the brand now Fujifilm X100VI has 7.

Amazing shot. Now question. Would you ever choose an iPhone camera over your camera ?
Thank you! If I have a choice between the two I will always go camera, not that you can’t take good photos with an iPhone but the experience of using a camera feels more rewarding to me that using my phone 😊
@@Allikkx I’m asking because I absolutely love shooting my dslr and when I take it out with my kids it feels special. Although taking an iPhone instead is so much easier.
@@oemca1919 absolutely, a phone is great for quick snaps and very easy to use, but if you enjoy using your DSLR then you’ll usually get a better quality photo 👌
Got excited after purchasing one of these lenses second hand yesterday for ~£100 equivalent and I can't wait to get out with it!
That’s great! Hope you have fun shooting it! Always fun having a new lens to shoot with! 🙌
Great video! Really enjoyed the walk around :) Silly question - but why do you hold the camera and take shots with it portrait? Also, doesn't this negate the point of wide angle?
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I think it’s mostly just bad habit from always shooting portrait orientation for Instagram 😂 it doesn’t negate it necessarily, just means the image will have a huge field of view from bottom to top (great for tall building and stuff!)… …should probable shoot horizontal a lot more though 😅
Thanks mate. It’s all new to me. Just bought my first starter camera Canon R50. I’d like to get this lens for some real estate interior images 👍🏻
@wolfiemedia great starter camera! The widest lens I’ve seen for the RF mount is the 16mm but if you grab an EF/RAF adapter literally everything works! Perfect lens for real estate and interiors! (Never shot that myself but you’d get a lot in the frame for sure!) 🙌
