As for why scare it off... it caused a lot of damage to my "stuff", but more importantly it was a rental property and serious damage to the shed was caused. Fortunately I had decent landlords at the time (and to the end), but I know of others that have been stung with obscene damage claims by predatory land barons, upon moving out/on.

How so? A detterent sound to encourage a wild animal to return to "the wild," away from a dwelling with toxic substances like motor oil, engine coolant, etc... would you rather see douchebags feeding and petting wild animals like as if they're house pets?

A pest that was causing ongoing damage to the building structure and the contents within... and putting itself at risk of having a horrific accidental death? Just let it happen? You might want to look into how territorial aussie possums get when they claim a shed/house/crawl space, and how extreme some of the anti-possum measures are in the construction industry to prevent them from infiltrating a structure. Five years and several offspring later... it had no intention of leaving.

@@z0h33y She only used the shed as a place to sleep while hiding from the sun. It did plenty of tin roof stomping, and general mixing/fighting with other possums in everyone's backyards at night. Fortunately for me, I don't have any squatters where I live now... possum or otherwise.

@@LoveCultOfXONRAD Ive raised them in Zoo Tycoon 1 and 2. I can see the piece of wood off to the side, so it looks like you started building a habitat for them, just need to finish it up along with adding some enrichment items so it has things to do besides sit around.

Haha, zoo tycoon... that thing that looks like wood was a cardboard box with some unusued trolly caster wheels in it. The possum initially moved that, a hardcased box of screwdrivers, a hammer, and pushed various other small things off the shelf to create its own enrinchment space.

Custom fabricated by a local exhaust shop. I said "make it sound like it has some grunt, some soul, and loud enough to not die next to a def elderly driver, but not loud enough to draw the ticket itching attention of cops".... and this was the result. I could have had them made out of titanium, ceramic coated, etc if I wanted. I was actually planning on taking my V-MAX to get a similar custom treatment from this place, but the slip-ons that came with it ended up sounding so amazing, it wasn't necessary.

The entire exhaust system on mine was refabricated from lighter stainless. Well worth it because the loss in weight from the stock chrome improved the bikes handling in a huge way. There would have to be instructions somewhere online, or here on youtube to rebaffle an exhaust. That's what you would be after if you want to improve the sound. Repacking may help a little, but the baffle is where the real magic in tuning the sound happens... or so the exhaust specialists say.

+Terminator At the time of making this video, the guy that custom made my exhaust (and header pipe) also did some minor tweaking of the fuel ratio screws just so that it ran nice and smooth. That was all that was required. no need to re-jet. Probably a year after making this video though the vacuum fuel tap failed and ended up flooding the engine with fuel. The mechanic I was using to fix it on that occasion did not seat the jets back in properly so it was guzzling way too much fuel. It had a nice super-splut sound, but you could smell unburnt fuel and it was an immediate pain to have to keep running out of juice. I quickly took it to a proper Dyno workshop (with a racing background) and had Stage 1 jets installed along with a balanced power/economy dyno tune. Without a jet kit, it ran nice and economical. With the Stage 1 it has a bit more of everything... faster off the line in a way that surprises 600-range sports bike riders that don't know how to use their clutch properly... better responsiveness when needing that extra burst of power while on the highway/overtaking. But the Stage 1 does kill fuel economy back down to factory numbers. I have had her for 5 years now I think? I have put over 50,000km on her, and she is at about 76,000km as of this week.... still going strong.

+Overlord Xonrad Thanks Overlord Xonrad for the info! But am I understanding you correctly, you actually don't need to rejet or a Dyno kit/tuning stuff to just let it run properly without backfiring? So i'm installing a stock market Yamaha Virago exhaust (but just no baffles), so I definitely don't need to rejet? Btw thanks again for the response! Greetings from Belgium ;-)

+Terminator From what I have seen others do to their Viragos, and what I have learnt from mine, the engine is sturdy, tough... almost bullet proof... but certainly no high performance machine that requires absolute exact tweaking. I think you will be fine so long as you get the ratio tuned correctly. Make it purr smoothly. I doubt you will notice any real difference with jetting unless you go all out and do a full upgrade like I did. Even with mine, I was told any further tweaking would only make a difference on the Dyno printout, you would never feel it during the actual ride.. and I just remembered, I had a K&N air filter put in with the Stage-1 inside a slightly modified-stock airbox too (that actually is something that would need re-jetting). Being carbureted, it will not stay perfectly tuned forever. You will eventually have to retune it anyway. The more balanced/smoother the tune, the longer it will stay in tune.
