Building #2 Mods
Добавлен 3 апр 2022
Building #2 Mods is all about creating the lightest, most extreme mountain snowmobile. A ground up sled built with 3D printed and forged Caron Fiber. Narrow bodywork, easy access maintenance. Along with a ground up sled, see all the parts we create for 907 Films.

Start of videos following my mod sled build. This is a ground up chassis design with the goal of 300lbs dry weight, streamline body panels, and centralized mass. Facebook bldg2mods Check out 907 Films ruclips.net/channel/UCXopuEHrK32fC3BNhGAS5Vwfeatured
How is this build coming along or is it finished?
Keep the content going! Next level stuff!
This is great content, I want to see the love child of a snowmobile and snowbike I love them both @snowderby
When new video?
Cool
Looking forward to the driveshaft video!
3 min in and the same thought came to me ….to simplify maybe off the shelf cables like marine outboard steering / controls
What happened 😢no more videos?
Sorry just don’t have the time anymore to make them. The sled is close to being finalized and then I’ll be able to release more content.
@@kadecooper246Sure hope you do, this is so awsome 🤩🤘🏼
just found this series, excited to see the finished project.
Any more progress? Would be cool to see finished product!🤩
Just found this on you tube, love it! Keep it up!
If you wanted to go fast should've use a 1100T...... sorry just realized you don't care about speed your building a mountain sled.
Awesome man! Your doing my dream! Building on the fly is so hard and watching your changes is encouraging me in my builds. It's a labor of love, keep it up!
Awesome video man! I was wondering about strength between aluminum and the carbon fiber you’re using and this answered my questions!
Are you going to see cats new sled at haydays?
Unfortunately no. I am in Alaska so to much of a hassle to get down there.
3M 5200
So sick man🤘🏼 love seeing the progress and can’t wait to see it on the snow
I would like to see how skis sving when you turn.
I probably wont film that till the sled is off the stand. The geometry is setup so the skis rotate the same amount as stock with 30% less handlebar input.
@@building2mods72 I Think you want more steering to be able to go up on sidehill or you can bowtie it but i like to have options.
Will you be using a ctec2 for the new motor?
Most likely. I may stay with the old Suzuki 800 as the base engine. It has less parts and and requires a simpler wire harness. I would like to get to the point of making my own engines.
@@building2mods72 If you get to that point, check out "2stroke stuffing" on here, he has been working that for a while now. Smaller engines, but he's doing some really interesting stuff over there.
He is awesome! I have been watching his videos for a long time.
love what your doing
Right back at you man. Been following your builds for a long time!
Another awesome video!
Maybe I can get to the point of "Todays video sponsored by Amsoil!"
Following! This is awesome, I wish I had the tools I have now with the time I had 10 years ago. I love that you’re tying the steering to the tank, that was one of cats biggest downfalls. Also if I you’re not already planning it, a little extra swing in the steering goes a long ways. Looking forward to the next one!
Time and Tools is a huge factor on why I'm doing this. For the steering I am changing the ratio so there will be less swing in the bar and more turn to the skis. Going to be doing a whole video on the steering system pretty soon.
I would also like to know how strong that 3d printed carbon fiber is? In terms of like steel and or aluminum. Also in the square/rectangular design in some of the over structure is it comparable to the old tube structure that was there? This is a super cool mod sled!
The 3D printed carbon fiber is comparable to billet aluminum in most cases. All the prints on the sled are all test parts, so very weak. The X-Brace (over structure) is stronger than the stock one. It was printed in a triangle profile style because it is faster to do test prints in that fashion. I like the looks of it though so I will probably stick with it.
On the pipe you are fabricating is there any way you'll know it will be the right shape and size in the right places, or is it kind of a guess?
So the profile of the cones/exhaust is the same as stock, I just changed the path. It is actually more accurate than it looks but final version will be made from a press mold.
This is awesome, I've seen it on Instagram and its cool to see a more in depth video about it. What are your plans for the tunnel? You mentioned carbon fiber parts, would you make the tunnel carbon fiber too or not since its probably too big to 3d print?
Tunnel and Gas tank will be made with standard carbon fiber layup with some molded in 3D printed parts. I was looking into doing an aluminum version for lower priced sleds but it doesn't come out much cheaper and loses most strength benefits.
very nice. Good to see people in Alaska building innovative designs.
Love the build progress, and that fuel tank cap is awesome!! Can’t wait to see it get some testing by Warren! Gonna be sick. If I get a stretch of time off I’m going to have to come down and see it in person. Plus your shop needs some swag in the background 😉.
Cool build, check out Arctic Cats patent files and there is something similar there using 600cc single cylinder. Using a CVTech clutch or new Adapt clutch would narrow your clutch side even further. Will follow your build as it goes. Great to see innovation.
Love the fact you are using the Suzuki as well. Easier electronics and engine is so reliable. The abilty to run premix is a weight saver as well.
The engine is centered based on the Adapt clutch. just using the old broken one for mock up.
