I do like making my drums extra spicy.

For the sake of clarity. I do all the audio media and J_blauv does all the visual media. So he creates something visual and I create something audio inspired by what he sends me. Then I create something audio and he creates something visual inspired by what I sent him. I suppose I could include who was the original submitter on every upload.

@@Skitz1o1 Ah, understood. This is a very cool way of working. Great musical vocabulary, man. Made sense in my head that TWO people were responsible for the music considering that it doesn't sound like you repeat yourself much.

Thanks for the encouraging words. It's nice to hear that someone is getting something out of these. This started as a creative outlet for a couple of dads. I've considered making a video on my process. I'll see what I can do to put that together.

To describe my process a bit: When I get a submission J_Blauv, I try to capture my initial reaction. For example, this image looked very alien to me when i first saw it so chose chords that reflect that. The song opens in a with an E7#5 which normally has a dreamlike quality but I find it can sound ethereal and groundless. Then, the chord goes to Emin7, back to E7#5, to Emaj7. This adds motion but keeps the song rooted in E which is the note the guitars stick to the most. I also employ the whole tone scale over the E7#5 which adds to the weirdness of it. And heavy 8 string guitars because I like heavy 8 string guitars.

@@Skitz1o1 Awesome! I'm an amateur musician myself, and I'm really impressed with your ability to rapidly comp ideas like this. I found your channel when I was exploring looking for strategies to more efficiently go from comping to producing to posting. So a video about your process would be really interesting.

@@spooqs Becoming more efficient with my time is a major goal with this project. I have two kids so when I do find time to work on music, I need it to be as efficient as possible. So far, it has definitely helped.

Thanks for the comment! Guitars are all performed by me, reamped using an Axe FX. I believe most of the synths are Dimesion Pro, a fairly cheap VST that came with Sonar Cakewalk back in the day. Drums are EZdrummer.
