Fralin SP43 Tele pickup with Fender Nocaster neck pickup
Просмотров 5025 месяцев назад
Not too many clips of this great Tele bridge pickup so I thought I’d make one, doing traditional Tele stuff. The pickup has a lot of mids and is very thick but still clear , plenty of twang. It balances well with a nocaster neck , which is a superb neck pickup . Very clear. The combo works well in this MJT thin line ash body

Twank
Tommy Emmaunel says you cant Travis pick using hybrid picking. But this proving opposite. Good job.
wow thats chord is brilliant
That was awesome!
Thank you!
Now that was a JAM!
Great job. We back to practice for me after seeing you chicken picking awesomeness
Good one love that twang
Thank you!
Beautifully done. Guitars sound so fantastic when they are played with a clean tone or very little overdrive.
How did this compare to your 6120 smoke? I’m considering both and unsure which to get. Love the 6120 for the classic gretsch thing but see the Penguin as a more versatile guitar overall
Honestly they couldnt be more differnt guitars. The Penguin is an absolute muscular beast that is a rocknroll machine. It's amazing how rthe same pickups sound so different in each guitar
Swing touch tone feel, not forgetting fantastic playing you’ve got the lot. Those pickups sound sweet !
Thank you !
Cheers mate, so difficult to find any clips where LP's are fitted with fiter'trons, I've got a set on the way now. Cheers.
You call that crunch!?
Well I guess it’s all relative , but for cleaner rockabilly and vintage rocknroll styles, it definitely crunches
Good tone, cool picking
Thank you !
Might literally be the best ad for these pickups lol
Beautiful
so many goddamn killer musicians on one tiny stage
There's so many top notch musicians living in that town. Sounds great, love that club too!
Thanks TK!
Supertron wasn't used a whole lot
Awesome
The guitar for sale?
Great guys!!that Greco sounds amazing.by the way, what string gauge are you using? thanks in advance
Thank you ! It’s a ‘91 w fralin noiseless p90s, pure nickel 11s
Love the idea of the tone pot mod, how difficult was it?
I repair amps and guitars for a living so it wasn't too difficult for me, still a PITA tho
What amp were you using here? Is it completely clean?
It's been a while but likely my Princeton I built , that's my go-to small amp for this guitar. It's a clean amp, but I must have had it pretty loud as it's just starting to break up. The pickups have a wonderful roundness to them, so when they do break an amp up(even though they're really low output, 3.5K or something), there's this nice ring of fuzz around the notes
@@jeremyslemenda4669 thank you!
Full moon now!
Finally someone that can play guitar, I seriously just watched 40 videos in a row to get here, for the fralins
Haha thank you glad I could help!!
Thanks for putting up one of the only demos of these pickups in the bridge position! Out of curiosity, are you using 500k pots here?
You're welcome! Yep 500K pots. I find most "noiseless" p90s def need 500K, as they are really humbucking pickups
@@jeremyslemenda4669 glad to hear that, I'm looking to put one of these into an LPJ-style guitar and wasn't sure if the stock 500k pots would be too bright with the alnico rods. Thanks again!
Is this your new band? She’s a talent
Marti’s an amazing talent ! I’ve started playing with her lately
Go dog go!
That's a beauty, and you play it so pretty!
How do you like yours?
I love it! I put an aluminum bridge on it recently for more twang
This is by far the best demo of this guitar.
Nice..mellow❤
Thanks !!
This is the style of "shredding " i actually find impressive very much enjoyed your playing!
Thank you very much!😃
Absolutely Lovely
That Bass Player rocks! Slaps it with the best of them.
Nice playing Jeremy!
Thank you TK!
Killer playing and nice shirt!
Such joy in your licks. Love that ax. If you’re gigging in NYC we gotta jam.
I still need to call and catch up!!
Good idea on the switch. I wire my Gretsches the “old way” by wiring the pickups to the switch directly. So the signal chain is: pickups -> switch -> volumes -> master -> output The tone switch is only in the chain if engaged but I have one guitar where I omitted it altogether. You’re only talking a couple hundred millivolts in an electric guitar so it does make a difference. Great sound!! Oh yeah, I tried the Ray Butts pickup and like you, put the Setzers back in. Way better pickups IMHO. Nice playing man!!
Thank you John! Yep the early ones were definitely wired that way...my 59 annie goes to the switch first then the pots and master. This also puts the 3 volume pots in parallel, instead of 2 pots in parallel. It amazes me everyone seems to ignore this! I also have my modern 6128 wired the old way, with the dual ganged tone pot and 1M pots
Love your playing!!! I got a smoke as well. Don’t get on with the butts. Thinking about swapping them for Setzer Pickups as you did!!!! Would Love to hear your opinion on the setzers in the smoke! Anyway have a good one😊Cheers from switzerland
Thanks man!! I though the setzers were a big improvement over the butts, for just straight ahead rockin and rockabilly. They do kinda have a mid hump/bump, that can sound a bit odd when playing at home, but cut through a live mix nicely. I have since put the butts back and am am going to sell the smoke, as I just don't play it as much as my other other Gretsches, even though it's the prettiest!
@@jeremyslemenda4669 thanks man!!!!!!really appreciate your answer😊!
@@jeremyslemenda4669your 1959 with the Original Filters Sounds so good!!!!!!!! No way the butts sound like that😉😉
@@benjaminschneider6395 They really don't! I never understood why people say the butts are "that" sound. The setzers have more character imo
Mashup!! Dance with one eye closed...
Alright dawg!
Man, where to begin: the git, the sound, man, the background of the room . . . ..
Jeremy Mr.Mega chops. I Love you Brother. You are the best! Peace Bear
Miss you dude ! Hope to see you soon !
Nice tones me bucko! I’m still in the weeds with my es135 upgrade. Gimme a call this weekend and talk me through it. Would love to catch up. Be well
Tone pot mod is really the business. I have it on my 6120 with T90s.
Alright brozeen ❤
Seymour Duncan makes Humbucker sized Filtertrons.
Thank you ! Ah heck I don’t know what I’m doing haha 😂 I tend to mix up all of my influences . The A section is more in the style of a 40s Western Swing Progression , and the B section is rhythm changes . I tend to call it Country Jazz , or hillbilly jazz . I like players like Tiny Moore , Junior Barnard , Dave Biller , TK Smith , Hank Garland , jimmy Wyble , Grady Martin ….
@@cburgess2805 yes it is! I studied GJ years ago so there is certainly some Django embedded in me somewhere!
Hi Jeremy! Sounding great! Chad here from SC, I’m in NY now. Great to see you and hear you. Let’s catch up soon. I still have my 135 from 1992. I am considering a set of those same pickups for it after all these years. I put a set in an old Firebird and man does it sing. Hope you are well.
CHAD! Great to hear from you man. You certainly were a huge influence on me back in SC...I remember you were the first one to show me any sort of countryish type stuff back in the day. The regular Fralin noisless P90s are great too. I have a set in a 175 that is my favorite archtop. Yes let's catch up soon! I was just in SC last weekend visiting my folks!
