Just finished watching this podcast. An yes, you guys make many valid points that are very positive. So much of the Negative feelings are 💯 due to Tanner handling of Jim Curtin. Marketing disaster.
Thanks for listening, @hury0328! The whole firing of Curtin could’ve and should’ve been handled differently publicly. I’m sure the club knew push back would come from fans once you move on from a manager of 10 years, but all of the negativity goes away once you start winning.
Ciao , qui a Parma( ITALIA) si dice di un possibile arrivo di Wagner...sai qualcosa a riguardo? grazie Auguri 2025 Luca
Fun episode Todd #doop
Tanner, interview as disappointing as season. Union need a press officer Tanner shouldn't ever be the face club.
Say "howdy" to Dave for me! Feed him well.
Did you just call me a sicko?
Ernst said none of the 10 coaches on the list were from Asia.
Thanks for clearing that up about Union in Leagues Cup. I thought I must've misheard him!
Martinez/Wagner MVP.
Sali or whatever, should have had two yellows. First half was a clear yellow that was ignored.
What a kick in the balls to Jim it would be if they finally decide to spend money once Jim is gone. (Lol, of course they won't)
Fitting way to end this season 😅with our own goal. I’ll just say to Glesnes a tie wouldn’t have been enough anyway. Oh well, I’m sure changes are coming now. Blunder of the week will be pretty easy to guess.
great breakdown as always - look forward to your future streams
To be honest, I find it hard to believe they couldn’t bring on someone on level with Cucho or Rossi to Philly. I know we aren’t exotic like Miami or LA but It sounds way more appealing then way out in Columbus Ohio 😂
EXACTLY! And you’re not that far away if you want to take a trip up to NYC like so many of the current players do…
Mbaizo and Bedoya do pair well, but I think against a team as aggressive as Orlando we had to match that. Curtain also should take advantage of subbing out during half time… it was clearly and issue the first half and he refuses to sub at half time. I was so worried not seeing Quinn and Nate starting.
Biggest change was bringing Luis Muriel on at half, changed the game completely for Orlando.
Oh no way, I watch the podcast for the stats don’t stop! Keep them coming!
THIS IS WHAT I LIKE TO HEAR! Need more people to have the same endorsement as you, Michael.
Its pretty much attention to details. Just miss timing the runs into the box or not spreading out Atlanta to get those shots inside the box our just outside. Its been like this all season with not finishing it and putting it in the back of the net.
Yeet or get yeeted.
Really good game for Sullivan. In my opinion he needs to be starting for us majority of the games and into the playoffs if we make it. If he keeps this decision making up he will be finding himself on the score sheet a whole lot more, which he knows. Off topic but I am done seeing adeniran play.
Also really like how Cavan is playing. Can’t wait for the day him snd Quinn link up.
Agree about Sullivan starting from here on out! Fun fact, he's played the fourth most minutes with 2961 minutes played in all comps. He's also tied with Kai Wagner for most apps in all comps with 41.
@@FreeKickPod yup! No hate to bedoya but he cannot be starting at his age he just looks gassed after 30 minutes. Mcglynn should be first to come out of the starting 11 between Sullivan and mcglynn if curtin wants a “defensive” 8 in like flach. Sullivan doesn’t get enough credit in this teams success in my opinion at least. His errors are there, sure, maybe more than we would like and they get their fair share of time talked about. But I think we forget he is the youngest Union player who gets regular minutes (I think) at 20 years old and does not get enough of his success highlighted, always his little brother getting all the headlines.
Yep, you're correct, Quinn is the youngest of the homegrowns to get consistent playing time, and I've been critical of him plenty on the podcast. Him not having a consistent position when he plays doesn't help, but playing as the 8 on the right has looked like his best spot. Assuming everyone stays healthy the rest of the year, having McGlynn/Flach & Sullivan/Bedoya isn't bad depth to have as your 8's. Bueno is also more than capable of playing there as well of course. You then hope that the front three can continue to stay hot and this team could make serious noise in the playoffs.
@@FreeKickPod yup. As we all keep saying no one wants to play us in the playoffs when we are on our a game. I would love to see some more Bueno, and also not opposed to seeing Danley get a few minutes at the 8 just to see what he looks like in what people are saying may be his more natural position. Really hope adeniran can either get it going or Donovan (I know it’s a long shot) or really anyone up there because uhre cannot go a full 90 and right now our best option might be Sullivan although is not a great option.
I have been looking for this kind of film breakdown! Instant subscribe, great video!
Thank you so much!! I’m honestly surprised there is not more of it tbh.
Was glad to finally see, everything that would go against us earlier in the year, finally go in our favor. Well done performance by the whole team.
It’s crazy when you think about all the mistakes early on. José Martínez with giveaways, not tracking players. Jakob Glesnes getting beat 1v1 multiple times. Andre Blake being injured. Finally, luck is going the Union’s way.
@@FreeKickPod yup.
Bueno sure delivered but wow, I’m amazed at how open Gazdag was on the last goal.
Adeniran definitely got fortunate on that play…
@@FreeKickPodhopefully he’s watching a whole lotta film, his decision making has not been great and his touch is awful for a professional soccer player.
Yeah, I’ve not been impressed with his performances since he came over from St. Louis…
@@FreeKickPod me neither.
I like his speed and ability to win back the ball from advancing players. But in an offensive transition he flubs the balls he is given quite often. Too many technical errors, I see him heavily criticized anytime they sub him in but I think he will probably land us a late game goal soon. He has a hell of a foot on him, once he is able to hold onto the ball.
Soccer on a baseball field. Confuses me every time I see it.
The camera angles are SO WEIRD! I’ll be so glad once they have their own stadium!
Sorry I missed the live feed, but damn what a game! I gained so much more confidence with Rick in goal now after seeing what he can do. Plus Kai Wagner 50th assist proving why he is so important to the starting lineup. Unreal game, wish they bought Cavan out a little bit earlier! Jim must have a deal he can only play when we get 4 points above the opposing team this season.
I appreciate you checking out the episode whether it be live or not! Yeah, what a confidence boosting game by Andrew Rick, not only for himself, but teammates, coaching staff and fans alike! As for Kai, he’s clearly cemented himself in the top five best Philadelphia Union players ever.
Predictions for Wednesday (tonight’s game)? Likely down Blake, not sure how much time Danley will play and Elliot is out! I still think we have a solid chance to win though.
Todd, Excellent breakdown. 🫡
Thanks for watching! Appreciate you!
Good job Todd ... great insights
Thanks for watching!
Is the hope still alive? I don't know how to feel right now.
I believe it is. Last night's game didn't really matter if they lost because you still have games that are winnable on the road (NYCFC or Orlando). That said, the pressure is on to win their last three home games.
good breakdown. - thanks
Thanks for watching!
found you through Battered Fans .. Inter Miami fan but also now a fan of your good work ...keep it up
Love to hear that! Kris and Danny have a great thing going over at their MLS and Inter Miami show. Really appreciate whenever they have me on, and seeing how dedicated all you listeners are!
No Baribo or Danley would be awful 😩
And Jim Curtin announced at his press conference today that Andre Blake picked up a groin injury away with Jamaica. He's listed as day-day...
Here, from battered herons to support The Todd.
Thank you for the support, Steven!
Also that run by mcglynn after he passes the ball is amazing to draw the one defender away from uhre and create a little confusion.
Starting to consistently see these great passes by DJJ. His ligue 1 experience is showing. Really excited to continue seeing him and also excited to see if/when he plays in his more natural position at the 8 and what he can do there.
I was super impressed by DJJ this match, watching him open up so many opportunities is exactly the type of midfielder we need.
Danley was FANTASIC! I put out a highlight video on Twitter and Instagram of all his key plays if you want to check it out. Would've added to the goals breakdown video, but didn't want to make it longer then what it already is.
Couldn't tune in live, but giving it a listen now. Sad we have no CCC next season but those penalties were terrible.
Even though we won Saturday... Union didn't have the best game, so i was a bit concerned going into the Weds game. Especially without Baribo and having to adjust without Martinez. I would also love to see more Adeniran, but I think he wasn't synergizing with his teamates. Danley for only being out 20 or so minutes I felt looked the most promising.
Couldnt tune in live this time but hope I can one time soon. Love the pod Todd. ❤
Thanks for checking it out either way! Live streaming is definitely a work in progress, but it’ll be better with time! I appreciate you listening to the pod. Have a great day :)
Andre Blake 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Nice work on the analysis, keep it coming! Subscribed!
Thanks so much for checking out the video and subscribing, Michael!
I haven't felt these feelings in what feels like a very long time!
great breakdown! good chances for both teams, at least we did not lose ig.
I appreciate you checking out the video, Paisley! I know 0-0 games aren’t always the most exciting, nor do you get a lot of action to breakdown at times.
@@FreeKickPod yeah i couldn’t watch the game and did not want to rewatch a 0-0 game😂 we definitely should have scored a goal between quinn’s chance and gazdag but whatever
What is going wrong?!
I personally think it's fatigue. Lot's of silly mistakes because the defenders never get a rest, and that's because Jim doesn't trust the bench options. Which falls on Ernst for the way he's constructed this roster...
I have been unimpressed by Semmle multiple times now. Any news on when Blake is back?
Jim Curtin mentioned yesterday at his press conference that Blake is "still a couple weeks before he’s out on the field training.”
How many goal keeping blunders in this game?
Definitely wasn’t a great game for both Semmle or Celentano that’s for sure!
Man, what a disappointment! I was so angry following this match!
So many different emotions, seeing Tai score TWICE, the team fighting back THREE times just to lose it in the 100th minute…
Did you stay up all night lmao, great breakdown
Haha, I stayed up until 12! Had a lot of energy after the game so I figured why not record the video afterwards. Thanks for watching!
What a difficult one to lose!
So difficult! The Gazdag miss from the second penalty was such a huge blow, but they still had a chance to score with the last kick of the game with Harriel’s header off the corner kick. Shouldn’t have been a game they lost.
Unfortunately Apple made me cut out the Raul Ruidiaz penalty kick, so if you want to see that you can head to substack to see the full video without the edit. thefreekick.substack.com/p/goals-breakdown-philadelphia-union-1e4
I just LOVED how Quinn handled the ball after a collision with the Nashville player, falling to his knees and than popping right back up still in control!
Agreed! Great job by Quinn to keep the play alive, and then find Julian Carranza making that run!
