Roof Dry Verge Caps Installation - Time Laps by Roof Done Right Limited
Felt was incorrectly installed. Felt was must have been folded on the corners. Rubbish work
How much does it cost?
I am Romanian, and can say this is the first roof I see it built properly not empty shits like many others..we'll done...
Thanks soo much for that tip of using the wood to hammer the lead onto the tiles!, I used a mallet today directly on the flashing today over the tile and it cracked the tile 😢. I was struggling to think how I would use enough force to press it flat so that the driving rain doesn’t go underneath but not so much force as to crack the tile. 👍🏻
What's the point of that extra bit of wall on the front, if they close it off (see 1:40) so it doesn't lead to any extra space on the inside?

good work👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
nemoj te ga slusat vara ljude
good
they have no idea on how to lay valley tiles, first start with intersecting battens, and what they fixed for chimney flashings
Great job ,a question if you don’t mind me asking how come battens on the rafters then battens again and counter battening on those
Good work but u should have put felt on top of counter batten with overfasica vent.
Roof done right ltd? Don’t understand the end cap on the bottom of the hip.
Did building control sign it off as a warm or cold roof?
Thats not a roof thats a fortress lol with so much insulation not even america could invade through that roof
I could fart that roof off bruh
Never seen a end cap on bottom of hip 😂
Hi jack pause video @ 5m51 and see the black end cap go on the end of hip, dry ridge system, all I was asking as smith builders never put one on our 400m2 extension, so all the end hips have exposed tile battens and wind and rain blows up through the hip tile gap, cheers Ian
Made a nice job of that
Hi excellent transformation, with the hip roof, may I ask what is the black end cap on the hip,end called , on the dry ridge system , as builders who done our dry ridge last year left the battern exposed under the hip,end so all wind rain bugs birds ect can get under into , and I’ve told them it needs end cap kind regards Ian
That’s just what it is, an “end cap”. However, they’re not typically used on a hip, they’re for main ridge. Hips are usually finished with mortar or a hip end (a hip that has a built in end finish to it) which look neater than mortar.
There’s a pig in the valley No good if your finished with bonnets
No change out of 20 thousand pounds but very good job .
The battern you put on is 25 mill that still leaves 13 mill your putting 50 mill on , plus the roofs your doing aren't fully supported ie fully boarded they have individual roof spars , pretty sure even when the roofs are fully boarded you counter battern on top of the board then roll the felt anyway, hey I'm not calling your work, just there is no need to create extra work , you may as well just double battern it if that's what you want to do cause that's all your doing
I'm pretty sure you don't understand what counter-battens are for. Double batten would only create more space horizontally - counter-battens make ventilation space verticly (that's how ventilation works - air goes in under felt support eves and goes our through dry ridge).
@@LukaszHajdiuk Your felt sits on top of the eave tray so the air flow is directed into the attic Plus you need over fascia vents on top of your fascia then a roll out rafter roll then eave trays , you slightly drape your felt between the rafters for any condensation, from the felt to your tiles , but if you do that what I said plus slice your felt on top the the air flow in the attic shouldn't cause any 🤷🏼♂️
@@deanamends1278 you are confusing attic ventilation with ventilation between membrane and tiles - that's what counter-battens are for, plus counter-battens secure membrane in case of any strong wind
@@LukaszHajdiuk I'm not confusing anything what do you need ventilation between the tiles for ? It literally tells you on the items you buy to do the roof , how to fit them The felt The 3 in 1 vent boxes The ridge boxes Just read them I always wondered why they came with instructions now I know why , if you think your doing it right just carry on I'm just trying to help u The felt on the inside with out proper ventilation will just sweat , il leave u to it
@@deanamends1278 if you don't know why you need ventilation between tile and membrane then you should read instructions yourself before advising anything to anyone.
Top job👍🏆
Why u counter battern
Because every manufacturer of breathable membrane recommends using minimum 12mm counter-batten to provide enough ventilation space between battens and membrane.
I hope that old timber wasn’t thrown away in the tip! Would’ve been perfect to re-use at the allotment :) Great job though!
very beautiful❤❤❤
Dry ridges are becoming increasingly popular
Ridge is the highest point of roof so its the best point of ventilation outlet
I love how the tango man made an appearance with hands in pockets earlier on 🤣🤣🤣
Well, that man is owner of this house 😅
@@LukaszHajdiuk 😱lovely, bloody customers climbing scaffolding and all 🫣👍🏼
Wheres the roll out rafter tray, that insulation at the eaves touching the breather felt, gonna get sweaty that
How come you counter batterned it
Because you always need ventilation between membrane and tiles. Membrane manufacturer recommends at least 12mm counter-battens. Lukasz - Roof Done Right Ltd
😂
Reginald tile design was best these new concrete tiles are eyesore. If thdts whdt home owner wants fair enough preferred smaller originals
These new tile were chosen by homeowners so we had to put them on - Lukasz. RDR LTD
That fills me with wonder (and if it were my home dread😄😲😳🥴🤣). The layers looked superb, great workmanship (quality materials are hard to source these days - I don't envy you that), but I have to say I preferred the existing tiles. Fantastic film and SNA is a great track too✌️😉👍😊
Do you nail down every tile or just each third row? What's your view on that.
Lukasz Roof Done Right Ltd- in my opinion every third row is enough.
The eaves trays are on upside down.😂😂😂
Second trays are. If you knew how to do roof European way, you would know why.
@@LukaszHajdiukouch 😂
Nice job lads
Did you get a good price for the old delta tiles?
We've saved most of them for future projects. Lukasz - Roof Done Right Ltd
@@LukaszHajdiuk I'm from Bristol and if I kept them I would never use them do you work with those tiles often? I don't tbh
@@chrisharris7752yes, we are quite often replacing broken ones.
@@LukaszHajdiuk around here I probably do a roof with those tiles once a year ,well done though you did a decent job all the best buddy
World class job!
That cladding looks good!
Is that insulation not going to sweat with no airflow between it and the chipboard sarking?
And also the membrane looks to be none breathable, would be surprised if these rafters don't rot out quickly!
@@techmoney5829 you're right, it's not breathable but you don't put breathable membrane on moist resist 18mm boards. Besides roof is sealed from both sides and venting tiles are installed to take all moist air out .
@user-tf6ql9tk2e but that wouldn't vent the underside would it??
@@LukaszHajdiuk you would need a very well installed VCL internally but even then moisture is going to get into the roof with no where to go. This design is not suitable for a habitable room.
@@techmoney5829please, tell me how moist is going between rafters when from top roof is sealed with t&g moist resist boards and self adhesive felt underlay and from under there are celotex boards, again 18 mm t&g moist resist boards, vapour resist foil and plasterboards. With such sealed of roof how the f any moisture is going to damage rafters or wool insulation?
Would you come out to slough in Berkshire for a big job?
Please, sent details through the form on our website tamworthroofing.com
Where’s the gutters? Where’s the drip edge? When it rains where does the water go? I don’t see a scupper or drip edge or rain gutter or downspout or flashing or step flashing or counter flashing? What’s missing from your video. I’m impressed with the installation and the insulation and details of fire resistant rock wool insulation and then foam board and closed cell foam edges. The sticky under lament grace? Okay so water handled and the support of the roof tile bang up job! But I’m confused about the finish how does the water get off the roof without pouring in the window frame’s?
If you look closely you will see that there is a gutter. Whole guttering and fascias were changed 2 years ago so we didn't change it again.
What's the wire looking stuff?
Radiant heat, to melt snow pack
@@scottohms2799 thanks
The wire looking stuff is 10mm pipe. We wanted to test our theory and find out how hot can running water get in sunny day.
Inexpensive way of heating water for garden pool. Water from about 8 degrees, on sunny day heats up to about 50. Next stage is to install heat exchanger. We will update project once results are good.
Why are all roofs not done like this? I'm referring to the battens. I see some roofs done with just horizontal battens.
In whole Europe besides UK roofs are done with battens and counter-battens when installing any type of membrane. This is to allow ventilation between tiles and membrane.
Spot on
Looks a good job but a bit overkill. Ripping out all the old roof timbers was that really neccesary?
Investors are going to do additional room there so they needed additional insulation, new 170mm floor and 150mm roof rafters according to architects specification.
How can something be over kill , the problem with today is things are thrown up this job is a proper job how things should be .
@@Davidhughes9467 I dunno it's not standard practice to replace perfectly good roof spas if they don't need it, most re roofs will be new batons felt etc even if the ridge isn't up to current regs. Things can be overkill sometimes but this job was specified up as the vids shows so that's what was done.
Neighbour houses have red roofs and this owner choose black tiles 🤦
lol that true but let's wait 2 years and old neighbour red will turn to the neighbour black. It's almost like a real life psychological experiment that's worth watching
Mate, it's not 19th century anymore - even if quite a lot of people here still think it is - and there is wide range of tiles (not just rosemary) do you can put whatever tiles you like on your roof as long as you ask local council for permission - they usually give you one.
@@andrewsommerville6023 Investors have contacted local council and they provided plans from architect to gain permission for such changes. Plus inspector form council have seen it during our work. Besides this wasn't just roof change but loft conversion for living space as well.
@@roofdonerightlimited-tamwo2046that's defo done with no permission or structural calculations.
quite right looks out of place my honest opinion.8 would choose red tiles so it blends in .lol😂
Don't you use MDF for the roof? Kronoply or dhd 16mm? 😅😅😅
Using T&G moist resist boards is so much easier then using other types
