Thanks for the video PartFinder. I was mainly watching this just to get the size of the oil plug bolt (which was provided). I saw a few small things I do differently, like opening the cap on the crankcase to allow the oil to drain better from the pan (creates more of a vacuum). He did have a reference to a washer for the oil plug, that's important; and you may very well need an oil filter wrench to remove that oil filter. I also use ramps with jack stands, but his way works too. Again, appreciate the video.

the location of the filter makes it a bit tough - with the low profile of the car you definitely need the jack stands. I suggest putting an old grocery bag (recycle/reuse) over the filter when taking it off to avoid drips. Also do this with cardboard under the car to avoid oil stains on the cement. Oil weight is on the engine cap 5W30. I suggest synthetic (as any Matrix still on the road is likely an older model). You may need an oil filter grip/wrench . The oil pan nut is (as I've heard) 14mm.

great video ! looking for some advice on my 2000 ford 2.5l. i have a lean code, checked for vacuum leaks with a smoke machine. there was smoke coming out of the idle air control valve's(IAC) top/breaher cap/vent (not sure want its called), and on the Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR valve) vents holes . wanted to know if that was normal?

Hi, I’m about to purchase an 07 matrix M in a few hours… The service engine light is on but the seller said it’s been like that for over a year and drives like a dream…. Any common reasons why the check engine light is on?

I’m glad it worked out and I found this video very helpful because I’m having the same issue with my 2000 Ford Mustang however I don’t think I would’ve put it all back together before testing odometer out first. Lol

Step one should be to clean the bottom of the grill so the new fins don’t get bent when they get hung up on the old grease. Besides that, great video. Nice color grill too.

Always a good idea to put penetrating oil on the big bolts hours ahead of time. Myself if it's an option, this type project is gonna leave dirt everywhere. Pressure washer underneath real thoroughly, let it dry fully, bring it inside, apply penetrating oil, remove battery. Always remove battery and take ground cable to a good ground, do the same on + cable. This will dissipate any static spark likely. Working on gas lines or near them/the tank, you could cause sparks with that bolt so tight or torn wire snagged on the bed when removing if you don't remove the battery and dissipate residual current to ground. Not the kind of surprise you want. Then it's less clean up later, and clean parts are always easier to work with. His bed wasn't bad so probably not the norm. Typically driven trucks are going to accumulate all types of debris. Maybe he had done so. It looks possible. Yours won't be that clean most likely. But please think about electrical wires near gas tank and lines. Eliminate the risk. Very easy to do.

after my ranger warms up when i come to a stop the idle drops to 400 rpm's where i need to give the gas pedal a nudge to keep what feels like it's going to die. if instead i put the car in neutral the idle elevates to a smooth 700 rpm's. I cleaned my IAC valve but there's no improvement. No engine light or codes. any thoughts? Tx!

My air is only blowing through the defrost after I had replaced the evaporator core. How do I get it to blow back out of the vents?

Good video amigo! Been working on my 2001 Ranger as well. U-Joints are my next project to keep er' running good.

Very good IAC removal and cleaning video. From my experience owning a Ranger for 22 years is the IAC's either work or the continually fail after cleaning, its not worth the headache of a failure on the way to work or a road trip. I bought a brand new one on EBAT for 29.00 dollars.

I just fixed my 2001 F-150 overhead console TODAY 7/2022. Those are "chip resistors." One of my 510 resistors actually fell off, and was lost. I had to research the "chip resistors" to find that 510 is actually a 51 ohm resistor (51 followed by zero zeros, for 51) and the 181s are 180 ohm resistors (18 followed by one zero, for 180). I popped off the remaining 510 resistor and measured it, to be sure, and it measured 50.8 ohms. I replaced both 510 chip resistors with two 1/4 watt, 51 ohm discrete resistors (Green (5) Brown (1) Black (0 zeros) Gold stripes (5% tolerance)). I soldered the leads of the two new resistors onto the little pads where the chip resistors were (tedious, and not pretty). Put it all back together and it worked, eeee haaa! Not sure how long it will last, since apparently it somehow got hot enough to melt the solder on the original chip resistors, with one falling completely off. Also, I found that the original chip resistors were rated at 1 watt and my two regular resistors are rated at 1/4 watt. We will see.... And thanks for the GREAT video!!!

Hey, you helped me. Was afraid there were screws I would have to undo to replace the screen. Pretty much same situation. Picked up a 3ds at a pawn shop for $35, had a broken right shoulder button and a scratched to hell screen. Got a new shoulder button set off eBay and installed, this screen is supposed to arrive today. Now I just have to get some rubber things to prevent the screen from hitting the touch screen when you close it. Thinking about getting the rubber screw covers for a 3dsxl to put on the screen to act as the bumpers.
