Hi @coffee2302, you can substitute the Bacon and Sausage for more Vegetables. In the end its about what you like. See it more like a guideline rather than a strict recipe. Hope that helps :)
Moin Jan! I made an interesting Eintopf. I use sauerkraut that is rinsed and drained, potatoes, onion, Brat and Knackwurst, Frozen creamed spinach, frozen mixed vegetables, Cloves, cinnamon, ginger, cracked pepper and allspice. I also add some wine and sour cream and onion potato chips. Came out amazing and reminds me of Germany when I visited.
Is there a version of this with eggs? When I lived in Germany five years ago, I had something similar to this but had something creamy that looked like eggs. It was delicious but I never found out what it was called.

The only thing different I'd do, because I'm American, is add a flour wash to thicken the broth... We Americans like a stew to look like a stew!

Hi Dennis, yes of course you can substitute the water with stock I wouldn't recommend wine. Chicken stock works just fine. I do however advise not to use the instant chicken cubes or powder. Let me know how it turns out. Best Jan

Hi All Glory to the Father, I wouldn't be to specific with the exact amounts of ingredients as this dish is a stew and the beauty of it is to add whatever you mind find in your fridge or cupboard. Personally I always cook a little too much so I can have some for the next day. It always taste better the next day because the Potatoes, Lentils and Vegetables have more time to absorb the flavor. How much doest your pasta cost per serving?
Can you please post me measurements? I need them for a history project of mine I want to make eintopf but I’m American and no idea where to start and so many recipes this one looked the best
Hi _ Glam_the_solider_ , Thank you for the kind words! Glad you found our video. To answer your question - Eintopf doesn't need a specific recipe you can feel free to substitute or change items according to season. It was actually considered as a poor people dish for a very long time as you can feed many people with very few inexpensive ingredients. As for this specific Eintopf recipe, we used 1x Celery, 5x Carrots, 4x White Onions, 3x medium size Potatoes, 30g of Parsley, 30g Garlic peeled, 300g Bacon, 500g Lentils, 500g Sausages and give and take 4L of Water Salt and Pepper to taste. This would serve 4-6 people. Hope this helps, and good luck! :)

This looks very good! I just had an unrelated question about German food. In terms of consumption is seems Germans use far more pork than other meats. Would you happen to know why the preference?
If I may,. Most Europeans, especially eastern European use pork. I believe it's because pigs are easier to raise and require much less land to raise.

I just made Rouladen today for the first time! It was similar to this recipe! I will have to look for your potato dumpling recipe. They are my husband’s favorite! I am glad I found this channel! I am trying to learn make more food my husband grew up eating! It’s been a fun adventure!

Hi Dannie, around 5 to 10 min. It depends what you prefer, if you want them a little softer I would go for 10 min.
