@@GregorOutdoors I agree with you, plus the air is very clean there. While fishing on the lower Owen’s and looking up at Mammoth it felt like being in a postcard. I hope you do get back there. The natural trout that I ate there were like salmon. The flesh was orange and red and tasted so good.

I’ve never been to castaic, during the summer pyramid does get pretty busy. I try and hit it on a Friday when I’m not working and it’s not too bad.

I know I’m not sure what it is about that area but I love it. I wish I had known about the lake and kernville area prior to buying my house!!

@@GregorOutdoors for years I had a trailer that I was just up there the river nook accommodates people that have trailers that want to leave them there.

Haha I can second that about the crappie, but I love how the lake and area has been able to rebound! The fish the wildlife it’s incredible to see the amount of change water can bring.

No boat inspections but you are required to purchase a permit for the lake. You can get a permit at any of the surrounding gas stations in the valley!

Not that I could see, the water levels have been rising quick. The fish are starting to spread out, bass are moving shallow though!

To my knowledge I don’t think there are any boat rentals. But, you can search Reds Marina or French Gulch marina to see if they offer rentals.

Yes sir they were sitting in about 4-6 ft of water. I went out today and the lake has risen about 6’ they weren’t biting very good either

I have, it’s not very stable. If you’re looking for something to use as a fishing kayak I don’t recommend this Kayak. I’m actually looking at getting rid of mine for something more suitable to fish from

You sure can, you can kayak and float tube year round. They close it for motor boats from October through April

Hey man sorry just seeing this. You can get minnows in Bakersfield at Copes Rod and Tackle or you can get them in Lake Isabella at the liquor store and in South Lake at the Gas Station.
