Im recently diagnosed AuADHD. I have been recommended Lisdexamphetamine 30mg, but cos of a 2 yr wait to initiate medication, ive decided to titrate privately, cos at 63, im tired of my life, and what ive been through cos of difficulty fitting in anywhere, and bullying right through my life. I can't work now cos of the crippling anxiety and depression, been trying to get into digital marketing, but suffer from terrible procrastination, lack of motivation and focus. So im hoping the meds will help with these problems, also with my irritability, a shed load of other ADHD symptoms i never knew i had until now.

Jan how do you cope with the daily pills or gummies I fear that I will have take these for life

Hi. Ive just started 20mg. Poor sleep, hope that subsides. I may take days off after ive done a solid month if for example i have 3 days off work so the work pressure is off?

I’m just collecting my first prescription for this medication. I’m almost 53 and I’m scared of the side affects but I’m also so fed up with feeling the way I have for 50 odd years!

Our journeys are very similar. I've never enjoyed alcohol, but the other struggles you've spoken on are very much like mine. I've been off meds for a few years and deciding whether to start them again. I remember how the "effect" would taper off, just as we think we've found our miracle. Lol

Yeah I hate my phone calendar I have to look at a real one on paper with big squares lol

I'm just getting to know you- not even sure what country you're in... but, if you have opportunity, try cannabis. It's a comforting medication that leaves you feeling thoughtful and philosophical instead of dizzy and ill..... At least for me it's always been very helpful.... Although, similar to alcohol, it's not great for productivity lol

I start each day with a bath. Trouble is I dont wash. I just sit in the hot water, for an hour, drinking coffee, check RUclips, and maybe message a friend. Then I get out and sit wrapped in a towel on the floor, do my planner...no one disturbs me in the bathroom. Its my safe place. But then I look at the clock and feel worthless, unwashed, and ridiculous.

It’s been an on going issue but onwards and upwards 👆🏻 hope you are still kicking the shit out of C xxxxx

Thank you for posting about this. I’ve followed your weight loss, I’ve had a bypass and I’ve suspected I’ve got ADHD for a while. Im interested in watching how you get on. I’ve now booked a doctors appointment to chat to them as I can’t afford a private assessment unfortunately. Looking forward to the next one x

Oh, Jan! It's so nice to see you back on here!!!! I've been following since we had our gastric bypass (we had them a day apart!). I don't have my WLS Instagram anymore, haven't for years. I often wonder where life has taken you 😊

I’ve been with you since your Gastric Bypass. I will be following your ADHD journey with intense interest. I discovered I have ADHD when my now 32 years old daughter was diagnosed at age 8. It was a revelation! I finally understood why my behavior was so erratic! Why I hesitated to positively respond to the question, “Do you consider yourself a success?” I have been married to the same man,since 1975. I have 2 adult daughters that are remarkable humans, a Masters Degree, and 2 professional positions over a span of 30+ years, although my ADHD was a factor in resigning from both employers. Why did I hesitate? My father told me that I could do anything I put my mind to it, but I still feel like a failure. Currently I am battling hoarding. I often “lose” things that have put away in their proper place! I wish you success in learning to manage your ADHD!

I take morning walks so I’ll be listening to you on my walks. 11 months VSG post op and can’t get the last 15lbs down.

It's so good to see you! I'm 10 months post op (sleeve). I have 18lbs to goal for a normal BMI and can't seem to get there so it's been discouraging. I've walked 20 miles a week for the past 2 months but still the scale is not moving. Would love to hear about the dating world. I'm 61 and wonder how that would be, how the older guys are. Hope you post more, you've been missed.
