Having to connect isn't ideal but being able to park 5 minutes from your gate is nice.

Number 6..... The overabundance of brainless idiots with those obnoxious, loud "boom cars" rattling your windows at all hours of the day and night.

I word of advice, which by the way has nothing to do with discrimination. I myself am of mixed race. Be very cautious with regards to who will be your neighbors. I am currently living near Indian computer engineering students. Ever since they moved in I have been having issues with my Wifi and computer network being hacked. Besides that, they like to save money and so they will fit about 4 people in a one bedroom apartment. Which causes excessive noise at all hours. Additionally they like having phone conversations outside which usually tends to be in front of other tenants apartments which can cause a disturbance. When they use the laundry room they leave the clothes in the machines over night and do not clean up after themselves once they are done. Additionally, They are not very clean in general. Once a cat must have taken a dump near their front door and they never cleaned it up. This attacted flies in my home. It was a mess.

Sorry I have to comment having read some terrible comments. I am a British Citizen who has worked and traveled the world since graduating university back in 2010. I settled in Kansas City 6 years ago. I would say that Johnson county is a perfect place to start a family and raise children. The school districts here are some of the best in the nation. Being British and seeing the amount of top grade facilities for sports blows me away! This state will produce some of the best US soccer players in the next 10 years! Also most neighborhoods have an HOA with a pool and club house. Is it expensive, yeah a little but you are getting a much better standard of living than most areas. Your children if you choose to have them will go to great schools. There are folks on the east and west coast that will sell their small 3 bedroom homes for 750k and spend 600k here for a 3500-5500 square foot home. Their standard of living will raise drastically! It’s a no brainer for them!

Overland Parking Lot is more like it... One of the most overrated places to live in the region by far. Johnson County people are notoriously very snobby, in their own bubble worlds most of the time, and think that their beige bland neighborhoods with tiny lots are somehow worth the inflated price of real estate. News flash, no its not! You can find far better places to live in the actual Midwest that have more reasonable housing prices as well as taxes. Taxes in Johnson County are very high in addition to a mind blowing sales tax rate. Nasty weather most of the year, generally unfriendly people, far from anything scenic or pleasant, high airfare to get anywhere decent, and awful for single people as well- even in Kansas City, MO area. Oh, terrible zoning as well, they basically put entire neighborhoods right on top of 8-10 lane highways. Overland Park is all about making as much money as possible if you have a good paying corporate job, as they certainly don't care as much about the quality of life for the residents that live there.

Where we currently live, people aren't used to seeing interracial relationships and there is a lot of racism. People aren't used to seeing mixed races. I guess my question is, in your experience, how have people reacted to interracial relationships and people of a different ethnicity in your area? I would love to visit the Midwest of the US one day. Gor me as an european I think its very fascinating how the life there is very similar but also totally different :) And Overland Park has a very good reputation when it comes to quality of life and infrastructure.
