Mid Ohio - 1:35.8 GR86 ClubTR - Gridlife 2024
Made solid pace improvements in each of the seven sessions of the weekend, but a mistake in T11 cost me a few more places in the standings. P6 out of 29 ClubTR competitors, with a relatively modest prep level so far.

Gridlife RevUp 2024 ClubTr 2850lb 255/40/r17 RT660 I only got a few solid laps this weekend due to fixing that car for the entirety of Day 1. This was my last lap of my last session, when I finally started to build pace with the car and setup. A cooler morning session would have yielded easy 39’s, but I still have some performance gaps to close the rest of the season.

Why are you starting to lift at 128 MPH? To stay off the rev limiter? If so, that seems low to me, on 225 45r17s I think I was well over 130 when my tach started turning yellow.
Yeah it was early to lift, def had a few more mph left in it. The wind buffeting pressure oscillations were so bad with the gutted interior that it was hard to hear the car, so I was just being conservative and not wanting a big weight shift from rev limiter before the bus stop
That's super fast!!!, would you mind share your build?
The ole girl is headed back to RA this Saturday. Really happy to have this video as my reference lap!
So glad she is still living her best life! RAtl is my favorite track I’ve been to, but it’s a tricky one… stay safe!!
Wing and splitter?! Are you still running autocross? If so, what class did you decide to jump to? Or just time attack/time trials these days?
Mostly building for ClubTR, codrives for autocross
Killer rolling lap!
Thanks! Yeah SCCA TT runs start/finish after Deception
Very nice driving. I really enjoyed watching you drive this car well. I recently purchased a gr86 and looking to running SCCA TT events in stock class. What brales are you using. BTW you are a monster on the brakes.
Hey thanks! This event was with stock brakes, Ferodo DS1.11 pads, and SRF fluid. I liked the DS1.11 but have since switched the fronts to CSG C2 pads for a bit higher friction and similar modulation
@@timeattack_lyle thanks for the reply. Hopefully will get to meet you at a track event this year. I am torn between buying coilovers or springs or just running the stock suspension. I will appreciate any advice from someone like you that knows this platform well and can drive. Dod you notice any significant improvement in handling over stock suspension? What do you think will be the difference in lap time stock vs a good set of coilovers on a track like VIR
@@patrickhingston the stock dampers are surprisingly good, I’d like to try a set with some mild 0.75” lowering springs, sway bars, and I bet it would be very good, especially on bumpy surfaces. VIR is a power track mostly, but always get the best tires for your class before any other mods I’d say
@@timeattack_lyle i will keep you posted. I might get the Eibach pro kit and call it a day. Thank you again for your response. I am looking forward to learning this car and become a better driver.
@@timeattack_lyle like you previous comment. Only the fastest drivers will recommend getting the best/fastest tires allowed. The average driver will tell you to get the tire that last the longest like a RS4. Haha
The monster is not the car, but the driver!
Flying!
Thanks!
What kind of modification did you do?!
Lyle... man.... holy crap! Absolutely incredible lap. I see you claimed another class record... WELL DESERVED! Congrats!
What mount are you using, and tablet for solo storm?
It’s a RAM Mount and fire tablet
"promosm" 🙋
Holy cow!! Awesome!!!
Promo>SM
Crazy fast! What’s your suspension and how much power on wheel?
It’s Redshift motorsports coilovers and about ~230whp from Stratified
Love this Lyle! Can't wait to catch up with you again.
Curious, what's the alignment of the car? Has it done any weight reduction? Is it on any aero package? Thanks bunch!
This video was the car's first event over a year ago. It only had coilovers, camber plates, wheels/A052's. No weight reduction or aero at the time. First time at this track for me. -4.5 front camber, stock rear camber. slight rear toe in. Pretty standard baseline setup for these cars.
Found you through Jackie Ding’s video. Apparently you went faster than a GR Supra 😂 gives me hope for when I start tracking my BRZ
These cars have a lot of potential! WGI is a very high commitment track, so I might not have taken as many risks in a $$$ car like a Supra 😅
Good shit through the bus stop. Makes me wanna get better there
~90mph through the inner loop, over the curbs.... that's about how fast I'm going through the banking at WWT. Must be one of the scariest parts of the track. Nice driving though :)
Yeah the bustop is pretty violent!
Damn, is that the best you can do?
Good form around the corners 👍
I dont like driving in fast cars because you have less control.
Pushing it to the very edge on this lap! Nice couple saves there
That two off snagged the rear fender and cut the tire though…
@@timeattack_lyle ouch! That sucks 😞. I didn't catch that two of the tires went off in my first watch through
go lyle!
I can def relate with the argh moment when I mess things up 😅
Wild! I've not heard of nor seen this track before, but I love it! Sure looked like a fun lap too 😉
Years ago it was half the length and called BeaveRun, then some people connected with VIR bought it and put a lot of investment in. Very nice facilities
What do you have done too the car?
Stock drivetrain, Koni dampers, eibach springs and bars, 225 Falken RT660’s, camber bolts
Nice run man! Any idea if Gingerman is a NASA track? I live in east Michigan but couldn’t find much info of the nearest NASA track near me.
I don’t usually run with NASA, but the local region there is a good one. Here is a link to their event page www.motorsportreg.com/orgs/nasa
Great run!
some great driving!
Thanks dude!!
Well a 1st gen is hitting the track this weekend for HPDE. I love this track and this gives me some ideas on the line/gear to be in. Thank you. I also own a bone stock 2022 BRZ daily. Good lap, a bit squirrelly on the last corner, good save!
Yeah I botched the 4-2 skip shift and locked the rear
looks fun! no solostorm?
Ironically I uploaded this directly from Solostorm and must not have checked the data overlay! Ha
@@timeattack_lyle too funny! I didn't know you could upload direct from solostorm. I'll have to look into that
looks great, and definitely a healthy bit faster than first gen!
It’s a good bit faster on track, but overall feels very similar. I think the difference on the street is much more dramatic due to the torque
Love how the g meter sits around 1.3 for half the corners...
Looks like a lot of fun, getting me excited to pick mine up in 2 days! Do you mind sharing what modifications you’ve done and what you’re using for data logging? How do you feel it compares to your last gen?
It has 17x9 rpf1s, 245 A052, Redshift Coilovers, ds1.11 pads. Data logging is through a RaceCapture Track MKII on a cheap tablet and Solostorm software. It’s a much better balanced car with the extra power and torque than my first gen. They can really punch above their weight/power ratings it seems
Damn thats quick! Is your setup on E85?
No! Completely stock drivetrain
Hi Lyle! Looking good! New car? A lot of guys will be jealous. Wishing you the best! Chris
Yes new GR86! It’s pretty awesome, stop out in the Midwest sometime!
That showed me why i was 20 seconds slower in the class. Great job!
Wow. You are FLYING. Thanks for posting.
Killer lap
Good vid Lyle!
Fantastic video Lyle!
Awesome driving! What are you using to get the brake and throttle data onto your videos?
Thanks! It’s a race capture track connected to OBD and CAN to capture data and overlaid in racerender
Nice video Lyle!
fantastic driving! i hope to run with you all someday.
Nice Lyle!
Great video! Talk soon!
