Chris Difford did a little solo acoustic set after being interviewed for the Louder Than Words Festival in Manchester. This is the last song of three he played with a little bit of banter before. He was promoting his brilliant autobiography Some Fantastic Place that you can buy on Chris' website: chrisdifford.com/merch-books/

I was there.. totally off the scale , loved every second ❤️
Wow, what a find😎
To walk into knowing no band to play this is so sad
What do you mean?
❤❤❤
Hoooly shit that looks like a good show.
I did find the video This is just normal in our place. Crazy it is 😂 Hope you come again. Cheers
Haha, there it is! Crazy traffic. Crazy town. I loved it so much! Good luck with your studies!
Which venue was this in Brum?
It was at the Town Hall, in conversation with John Robb when he was promoting his book Set The Boy Free. Brilliant book, brilliant night. And who takes 87 guitars to a conversation. Johnny Effing Marr!
@@leevtharrison thanks I had a feeling it was the town hall. I saw Suzanne Vega there years ago. But 87 Marr guitars for a convo is just daft rock star behaviour.
Great evening , absolutely loved it ❤️
Bless the angel that recorded this.
🎉my fave track 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Is that John Robb in the other chair?
Yes
Exelente trabajo y músicos felicidades
Gotta say this version pales in comparison to Johnny Marrs
but this is morrisey singing it. I know exactly what you are saying though. both legends
100% Johnny Marr and his band would knock this into the middle of next week. Marr even sings it better than Morrisey now!
Ideally it needs to be them both but sadly , never to be
Great gig, he's like a fine wine, voice was better than when I seen him 7 years ago. Loads of early moz and smiths, and some superb new tracks too, Bonfire of teenagers was very powerful.
I was there too . I thought it was a special night all around . He was on top form as were the band . It’s one of the busiest I’ve ever seen it in there and the crowd were great
He was on top form , couldn't take my eyes off the man 😲😍🥰😍🥰
He's mesmerising. ❤🎉❤
Even fngvv
Dreamy
wtf is happening here why he just awkwardly standing there playing a song to hundreds of silent people and have two people sitting by him
Errr, it was an evening of conversation where Johnny and John Robb discussed his career and his new autobiography.
im sure he expected it as he knows they people want it. i mean he saw the setup and knew he was probably going to play before doing so.
I was there always great gig at Musician, he parks his Motorhome Outside
Aaah, it was a great gig!
Beautiful..... simply beautiful.
I thought I could play this the other day then watched this and EVERY TIME Marr plays things better and fuller sounding than I ever could! He's quite annoying!
Ain't he just!
He's playing the bass part at the same time on the E string. Oh, plus reverb and chorus help!
Oh no. That's exactly what I'm planning rn. ... Well, we'll see XDJDJ
Nice
zoomed out it looks like the guy in the blue chair is Morrisey I was like 'wtf is going on here'
It does! Haha. It's a guy called John Rob. Plays in a couple bands and had a log of knowledge on punk and post punk
OMG THANK YOU for posting this !!! what a fantastic night.
The next song was my favourite from the night - my kid got up and sang with Brandi (after missing three flights, missing the soundcheck and not sleeping for 48 hours!) ruclips.net/video/W4Aa6_zKhH4/видео.html
@@leevtharrison omg LMAO so FUNNY story .... I was buzze enough, that when Brandi was intorcing the young girl, and discussed Adele - my brain jumped to "omg Adele is here" and I started screaming hahahaha.
Iconic.
I knew that he’d met Matt Johnson before he formed the Smiths but I didn’t realise that he almost joined The The and the Smiths would never have happened
Crazy to think about. And who knows if The The would have actually ended up anything like they did if it was a band in 1981 or 1982? No Soul Mining, weird to think about. I didn't know that the line 'Me and my friend were walking....' from Love is Stronger Than Death is Matt talking about Johnny.
I can't decide which band is better or made a bigger impact.
@@arthousefilms The Smiths are much more famous, even though I don’t really like them. But I don’t know of any other band that have claimed The The as an influence. So probably the Smiths.
@@greva2904 Sorry. I meant to say "I can't decide which band is better or made a bigger impact TO ME"
For quality of music its The The - not even close really @@arthousefilms
John Robb doing the interview. The guy is a legend.
classic !!
Please keep playing - I could listen for much longer! Crystalline chords. Amazing guitarist.
Nobody even close these days to what Johnny Marr composed with these Smiths songs, and at such a young age, oh Manchester, so much to be thankful for!
I like the pun
Best song ever created by the human race. The studio recording on "Meat is Murder" is exceptional with backwards guitar decay and melancholic chord changes. Moz' voice is perfect. Johnny's playing is timeless. The host is mesmerized while he feels, live, what he feels when hearing the actual studio recording.... "It was dark as I drove the point home, and on cold leather seats, well, it suddenly struck me... I just might die with a smile on my face after all."
What a fantastic post spot on with all points. You my friend have an ear for tunes
@@tccompaq agreed. this man has spoke what I could not put into words. It is the greatest song of all time. The stars aligned here
Pearl.
I love 💕 this song. It’s epic.
Rickenbacker!
What’s the point of having an interpreter there, they can’t hear the music.
Because the evening was a two hour interview with some occasional guitar playing.
Fantastic. Song always gives me chills
Same here. . . . he's a melodic mastermind.
uh, I love this, but I can't really understand what he says after the guy asks him about Matt :/ er, help
Something good
I agree ! Its so hard to understand what he says after that that amazing riff from the the Can somebody translate Just a few sentences please
His playing is so clear.
Deathless.
did you mean immortal?
m3dicated I like both words though “deathless” is how I feel about Marr’s work with The Smiths and many other artists.
Night of the Riffs...
¡Magic!
Migical
is that director genius danny boyle hosting?! if so a room full of talent!!!
No, it's John Robb.
Pure soul music.
love the riff.
Genius 🎸
I love this man...
what a fucking riffffffffffffffffffffffffff.
