2024 SRAM RED AXS Hoods - REAL One-finger Braking!
No joke... you can one-finger brake when stopping from the highest speeds or down the steepest pitches. The new lever design delivers a new standard in braking comfort and power and also eliminates the finger-pinching when fully-compressed.

2024 SRAM Red AXS Hoods - Brake and Shift Lever Reach Adjustment
Просмотров 5754 месяца назад
With the newest SRAM Red AXS, it's easier than ever to adjust the lever and shifter reach. A simple port exposes a 2.5mm hex bolt that allows easy adjustment inward or outward. This is particularly important as the new hoods feature a longer reach than the previous-generation, which makes the lever reach adjustment more common. It's super easy to do and makes a huge difference in how easy it is...

With all the batteries on modern road and gravel bikes, it's not a matter of "if" you'll encounter a dead battery on a ride, but "when" you will. In this video, I share a pro tip as a workaround when m SRAM Rival XPLR shifter battery died on a ride. It's pretty funny watching all the sram fanboys discovering you can brake with one finger with hydro and talking about it like it's some new innovation when I've been doing it on shimano for years and years, and I'm only on 105 not dura-ace

      I too have and have had all the levers from every brand. Campy has had this dialed for years. Shimano is solid for sure, but I'm confident you'll notice that little bit extra the new RED provides. It's definitely noticeable.

    nice! have you tried the newest generation sram force levers? Or are you just comparing to the previous gen sram Red?

    Why is there a battery in your left shifter if you are running 1x?

    • @JasonMitchell0
      @JasonMitchell0 4 месяца назад

      SRAM AXS shifters are paddle shifting, so you need both shifters to up/downshift.

    I put a set of these on my CheckPoint and really like them. They are very speedy on the road and great for hardpack gravel. I had to replace a pair of Pirelli Gravel H and thought I would give these a shot. I appreciate the small amount of additional width, going from the 40 to the 42.

    I’ve just been stranded for the second time with my AXS system. Batteries don’t last more than two rides. If I had it to do over, I’d get Shimano with cables.

  • @edhill8568
    @edhill8568 7 месяцев назад

    Did you check the shifter battery before your rides? If the light is solid green you're battery is fine. But if not solid green, for example flashing green I'd change the battery. You should never have a dead battery since it's so easy to check.

    • @JasonMitchell0
      @JasonMitchell0 4 месяца назад

      I always check the derailleur batteries, but neglected to check the shifter batteries. And, I actually wanted to see what would happen and how I could best make my way home with only one functional shifter. You know, for science.

    Good video, I've seen it in the manuel but never on a video. Tip, carry a 2032 battery, they are so tiny that it's almost stupid not to take one with you all the time.

  • @Stevehatesgravel
    @Stevehatesgravel 11 месяцев назад

    If you didn’t use the stupid 1x and used 2x you could just swap the batteries round 🤣

    • @JasonMitchell0
      @JasonMitchell0 11 месяцев назад

      Actually... this was a dead shifter battery, not a derailleur battery. You can't swap them quite as easily.

    • @slowmigo

    I hear ya man... We were all freezing and anxious to get things rolling. When DV had the unexpected mechanical issue, we were frustrated to say the least. But, when everyone started hiking back out, every one of us was like "what the heck are those people thinking?" I know when you're faced with losing valuable ski time at DV where the lift ticket isn't cheap, you likely said "Hey, lets ski somewhere else because this is a joke."

    I'd honestly have to go with the 575 and that's what I said was the best IMO. However, there are several other bikes out there that are less expensive that will do you well: 2008 Specialized Pitch Pro 2008 Transition Covert But, if you want the best trailbike, I'd definitely say the Yeti 575.
