    Greg I’m flying at Villa Grove the end of this month. I recently purchased an oxygen system from MHOxygen, I’m not sure how or where to place components. Please tell where you place the controller. It should be set and forget but what if you feel you need more. Please advise, thanks And btw GREAT VIDEO! I am very excited can’t wait to get there.

    • @saiboogu
      @saiboogu 7 месяцев назад

      If you start on the ground under the lines, it's pretty much impossible to hit the lines on takeoff. If his only launch field has power lines, launching from under them is safer than launching from the other side of the field where you would need to climb above them in time.

    Drop dead easy design! I may build one soon! Im sure the acrylic was pretty pricey. You could also easily add a PH probe and add a cheap PH controller wo it to get an idea of what is going on inside of it.

      I've gotten used to the helmet, and prefer the protection it provides that hopefully I'll never need. It's carbon fiber, so not as heavy as you'd think. I've had a 4:30 flight with it. I've integrated the helmet with my phone, vario, and radio, so everything comes through the headphones..

    What is the max altitude over the launch you can attain (with no thermal)? What conditions do you need to attain that?

    • @GregHiller1
      @GregHiller1 10 месяцев назад

      Good question, hard to say exactly. I had a recent flight in Indiana and got to 8,200 ft without really pushing super hard, but it was a buoyant day, lots of lift around. A buddy of mine said he got to 10,000 once. The problem I believe becomes that the engine is not very efficient at the higher altitudes, also it's harder to climb in thin air.

    Great video Greg! Fellow Mosquito Pilot and NEW subscriber! Question: you mentioned you had a slight loss of power on take-off. Do you still have the shoulder choke on your harness? If so, remove it asap...I have a a couple videos up on my channel where my Mosquito almost stalled completely nearly resulting in a hard landing. This only happened when I first put my feet back into prone position. The shoulder choke line was getting caught inside the harness as a adjusted myself into prone which pulled slightly on the choke line inside the harness cause it to hesitate/lose power and almost stall. I removed the shoulder choke and my harness has never ran better...just a lesson learned from my experiences. Safe flying my friend!

    • @GregHiller1
      @GregHiller1 Год назад

      Yes, I still have the shoulder choke in place. The power loss for me usually occurs due to bubbles in the fuel line that I sometimes don't successfully completely work out before launch. Those bubbles usually become a problem just as the harness is starting to angle down in the back, just as I'm becoming airborne. I use the choke to kill the motor if I decide to thermal; then I can restart easily. I also always come into land without the motor running/idling. How do you stop the motor if not with the choke?
