Welding Iseki TU318F gearbox housing
Welding up a crack in the aluminium gearbox housing on the Electric Tractor.
Detailed welding segments: 4:40, 5:20.
Watch the transition from 8:55 to 8:56 to see the amount of cooling contraction. This definitely helped tighten up the bearing mount, as it had splayed out quite a bit when it cracked.

Electric rotary hoe field test.
Просмотров 3,3 тыс.4 года назад
Testing a 48v rotary hoe. The motor is a 1.2kW BLDC motor from Cutler MAC. The power pack are 14 53Ah NMC cells. Estimated runtime between charges is 5-6 beds. The gearbox is quite noisy. We've yet to diagnose the cause (could be the centrifugal clutch or a problem with the oil/gearbox itself).

First test of a hoe conversion to electric, after an upgrade. Upgraded from 16x 15Ah Headway LiFePo4 cells to 14x 53Ah NMC cells. 2020-01-14
LiFePo4 Pack Cycle test.
Просмотров 664 года назад
Cycle testing 56 old LiFePo4 cells. Cells 1-8 are used for the PowerLab 8 source pack (A). Cells 9-16 are used for the iCharger x6 source pack (B). Readings are taken every 2 seconds. Both voltage (milli-volts) and temperature (Celsius) are recorded, as well as if a cell's (balance) load is active. JSON data is stored locally, processed and sent to a graphite server as individual metrics. Graph...

Electric tractor: Chipping part two (1/2 motor revs)
Просмотров 2217 лет назад
Here's a short clip of Thea and myself chipping some more branches with Bleuie, our electric tractor.. I'm trying out the PTO on 1000 RPM with 1/2 the max revs of the motor. The 540RPM setting is the correct one but it's got an awful knock every revolution, so don't want to use it like that. The electric motor can handle it pretty well. It's sitting at about 75A 'idle'; 200A is the constant rat...
Electric Tractor - using the PTO driven chipper.
Просмотров 9407 лет назад
We're slowly chipping away at the debris (from getting the shelterbelt cut). It'll take a few more full days. We've used approximately 17kWh so far over the course of about 3 days. Double-carbon-win! Not burning the debris (and so not releasing carbon into the atmosphere) plus using non-fossil-fuel to power the PTO (the tractor was charged using mostly PV with a bit of Hydro). #LoxleyFarmlet #E...

Chipping branches with the Electric Tractor. We spent about an hour (and ~3kWh) chipping branches that were recently removed from our pine shelter-belt. #LoxleyFarmlet #ElectricTractor

Testing out the newly converted rotary hoe. It's using a 1kw BLDC motor on a 48v nominal pack (16S Heaway 15Ah LiFePo4). #LoxleyFarmlet #FossilFuelFreeFarming
Rotary hoeing with an Electric Tractor.
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.7 лет назад
Taking the little electric tractor through its paces. Running at just over the continuous rating of 200A (but with forced air cooling), the tractor performed reasonably well when rotary hoeing. This is quite a demanding task (probably the most demanding), so I'm reasonably happy with the performance. Upgrading the pack from 48v to 72v nominal will definitely help (50% more power and runtime ftw...
Adjusting the pressure relief valve on the 3-point hitch hydraulic pump.
Просмотров 15 тыс.7 лет назад
I was having difficulty lifting heavy implements with Bleuie, the electric tractor. I recently upgraded the cables fom 6mm^2 to 25mm^2 (a bit overkill, but there we are), but the system was still having trouble lifting a heavy rotary hoe. In this video I adjust the pressure relief valve on the pump to try and get a higher pressure. There is also a pressure relief valve on the internal hydraulic...
Solar powered flail mower
Просмотров 9027 лет назад
Testing mowing performance on Bleuie, our 48v electric tractor. Using a Trimax flail (mulching) mower. Draws ~200A (approx 10kW) when mowing relatively thick material. Goes up to 250 - 300A when going through thicker patches. There is a bit of knocking of the flails during mowing - not sure if this is normal (and just masked by a diesel engine normally) or if there's a bearing or flail loose......

Where is the rest of the video? I want to see the part where you actually hook the deck up to the two levers hanging down. That is the part that I struggled with when I put my deck on the mower. Therefore, it would be really nice to see how someone else does that part of the installation. I had a second person helping me and we still struggled with it. The rest of the video was good, it just seems as if you skipped some of the most critical parts.

Thanks so much! Never can remember which way that hanger in the front goes after I've taken it down. Always get it wrong! It's the only thing in the manual that they left out. They put in a little side note that it is "different" than the larger models. Nice!

As far as I can tell, it's symmetric, so shouldn't make a difference which way around it goes.

Hi Jesse, I'm not too sure, but from your description I'm inclined to say "Not as you've described". The LT1042 I'm using has an electric clutch for deck belt engagement.

Between 30 and 45 minutes, depending on what thickness of grass you're cutting. With the blades engaged, not moving/mowing, it uses about 6kW of power. The pack is approx 5kWh.
