Tekton is just as good as snap on
@stevensko9153 value for what you pay I'd say it is better. But snap on is a better tool when comparing apples to apples
Nice set. Thanks for showing.
@@remfj40 thanks
The majority of "weird name" brands from Amazon get their tools from the same manufacturers as big names. There's only so many in mainland China
exactly. the only real differance you are getting with the name brands is customer support and warranty
@@RyldUpLtda lot of times you can get very good quality off brand tools if you make sure they're made in Taiwan
its literally luck of the draw in my opinion. ive snapped gearwrench, craftsman, no name china, walmart, harbor freight. Just depends if your using them right annd what ur doing. most of mine were from doing something stupid, not the tools fault
@Beast12369 ya i feel ya. The 1/2-3/8 adapter was because I didn't have a 21mm 1/2 so was using a 3/8 socket to take off rusted luggage nuts on a power stroke lol. I can't blame China for that one
Great review! I use an Amazon 3/8 impact socket set for work as a diesel mechanic in the oilfield and have yet to run into something I couldn't do with them. I've had the set for two years and use it daily.
@agentmike45 i totally agree. I have individual snap on sockets of the common sizes i use for engine work. But other than that cheap sockets are the way to go
Maybe the piece of paper?
He did it for demonstration man
@@FrankHannigan-h8s if only I thought of that sooner lol
I use casoman, wett, mix power daily impact use and they worth great. No reason to buy expensive sockets anymore when you really think about it Twain is a really small island..
@@robertomilanecky the only thing worth paying for is the "warranty" brand new means almost north anymore because it all comes from TWN or CHN
@ true, but I’ve had cheap big above 1” impact sockets for over 13 years and haven’t had to warranty any. But there are definitely things I will buy because of warranty.
I uase the casoman impact sockets too, the best cheapest socket set that is rolled and laser stamped.
I do not think people realize how inexpensive it is to manufacture certain tools. I believe you are correct; I see the same in the States as far as tools. Gearwrench is no different than Husky with a lot of their tools. Although Gearwrench does have shallow broaching in their higher end sockets, honestly, when you can get an extensive starter kit like your Apex Canadian counter part for 200 - 300 USD, that is a fantastic way for a new tech to start off with and build upon. Icon and Carlyle are premium at any level without the outrageous price. When I first started working professionally in the trades no one, specifically professional techs, wanted or purchased Taiwan or Chinese made tools. I even snubbed my nose at those ubiquitous USA made Craftsman raised panel wrenches and ratchets everyone raves about these days. When I heard that Matco and MAC were selling Taiwan tools, I thought I needed to clean my ears out. That said: both China and Taiwan are putting out premium tools these days, there is no denying it.
@ihavethedocuments2580 that's just it, when 90% of what you buy on the tool trucks is rebranded off shore tools, there isn't much point buying them for the premium price
Are you dumb u can see the paper fall out
It was to demonstrate.
Snap on blows , total rip off , they do not care about their consumers.
Very true
@Seraphim.of.the.desert for a lot of stuff i agree the price is way out of line, but the are without a doubt the company with the best tools. And somethings aren't to bad, like this demo screwdriver is only $10 more than a most other usa brands like Klein
@@RyldUpLtd nice
@@RyldUpLtd recently the icon stuff has been treating me well seeing as it has a lifetime warranty
@Seraphim.of.the.desert I have a lot of icon too. Only thing them sell that is really worth it are the pliers I think. Still not as good of feel as snap on. but next to snap on and knipex, they are my favorite. One thing I will give icon over snap on is they don't rust!
Hubby started working for his dad at the age of 9. He was buying snap on tools when he could and consistantly bought snap on until he got married at 21. After that it was still snap on, but less consistent. Now that he's a grandpa, some of those snap on have with out, and the local owners, exchange for very different styles, so the set is now mismatch if colors and handles, or WON'T warranty them at all!
@capaeo5532 I've had that problem too with screw drivers from Mac. No I found matching ones used on ebay and sold the new ones I was given as warranty
All you Milwaukee fan boys say you prefer to buy American, but Milwaukee is not American it's a Chinese company out of Hong Kong ITT, if you want support American companies then buy Dewalt it is a American owned and makes the same amount of things in America as Milwaukee keep sending your money to China guys
@MrBostonBilly i agree. All my main power tools are the Dewalt 20v. And I definitely noticed a difference between the usa made and the ones that aren't. I have a few select m12 tools just for how tiny they are
Film it horizontally and it'll be a better watch, awesome video though man
@devint2310 thanks I appreciate it. I will keep that in mind for my next video!
I'm just using a ratchet in that situation
Same 😂its gonna step you into a corner
Still cant soin the bolt out though...🤷
@skylardever8234 was the nut side luckily
How are you liking the torque wrenches after some use
@chuggalueroifan i haven't had a chance to really use them yet, but I have a few head gasket jobs coming up so I'll get a good feel for them. I did just throw nut nuts and bolts in the vise to check the angle setting and it worked pretty good
Good stuff. I believe the Irwin extractors are still 100% USA. Guessing the socket adapter is Taiwan, which is still a nice adapter.
@asmautollc ya irwin/Hanson is who makes the extractor for snap on. If you can live without the logo and having a blue case instead of red they are way cheaper straight from irwin
5/8 fits real good on 16mm, just a little tighter by .005 Yeah, that is definitely a good kit to start with for sure 👍
@ihavethedocuments2580 i got other sets so if I really need the less common stuff I can grab em from the truck, but ya definitely a cheap way to outfit my cart
Beauty sockets👌 That rachtet looks like its excelling in the backdrag department lol. Us Snow Mexicans love to undo fasteners as we tighten for the overtime purposes.
@cblack1863 ya it's not a delicate ratchet, but for rusty or seized bolts I will be able to put some crazy torque on this thing before ever skipping a tooth
hell yea cuh
Hey, just curious what you think about Canada joining the US and becoming the 51st state?
@allaboutroofing2 I would rather just see Canada split is half. Alberta, Saskatchewan and B.C. would be a power house. But I wouldn't want to join the US. The government/deep state corruption runs to deep, our government up north it just stupid so it can still be fixed lol
@@RyldUpLtdas an American I feel you. But from our perspective we also think their just dumb 😂😂😂
@andrewbui5136 the problem is that anyone who is actually smart enough to run a country is also smart enough not to get involved in politics lol
I picked up a couple sets in both SAE and Metric for $34.99 U.S. Great deal and a extremely well designed carry case. Break in those ratchets and they are butter smooth.
Harbor freight sells tiwaneese knockoff tools for half the price
@Jaybird913 we don't have harbor freight in Canada sadly. every time I visit the US it is always a stop I make, great value for the money
I find that a bad thing, they should all be consistent and you shouldn’t have to find the best feeling none at the store.
@zook_291 ya inconsistency is a big problem for any brand. Hopefully the V series clearance is because they are re-vamping and fixing the issues
Does it come on the rails??
No he said he got them off Amazon
@samsautoanddiy the brand is Aloanes on Amazon. I got 30 socket rails different sizes and colours for $100. They do sell different size and colour options
Master Craft is worst garbage ever
@Nordman555 the maximum line isn't bad, and it gets the job done
Temu
Also, if you base the price on the first one you showed at $27 then they work out to be around $189 so not even close to half price
@excessivecabbage7350 the cutters cost the most, the other 2 3pc sets cost $30-40 ish. You can get them all for around $100.
They are not made by titan. Titan is rebranding the same set from the Chinese manufacturer, don't remember the name of the company.
@andrestnt fair point. "Made by the same people as titan" would've been a better way of saying it
What’s Mac part #?
@joshuaseer SBT59800. 16mm is the hex size of the bits. It's to bad they didn't make them and the ratchet 17mm so it would work with most dual drive and stubby 3/8 like astro and olso sockets
@ have you found any other sockets that would work as well?
@joshuaseer no. Any other hex drive pass through or nano sockets I have found are 17mm and the dewalt head is 16mm. I'm honestly surprised dewalt hasn't come out with a set
Dewalt or Milwaukee lets settle it
i Have owned full line ups of dewalt 20v, M18, m12 and snap on 14.4v. i like my dewalt 20v ALOT more that the m18, but dewalt 12v suck because they are the same size as the 20v so there is no point. so i got the snap on 14.4 line up for the low profile and size, they sucked and were way over priced so i sold them and used the money to buy a line up of m12. no one brand is the best for everything, and as much as i love 20v dewalt, as a blanket milwaukee in the best cordless brand(gen 2 m12 stubby impact won me over big time)
The pawl springs are too strong. Lube will only help so much. You could cut the springs down if you could open it.
Tried them out I’m sticking with icon
They are junk i tried them out and whoever machines the gears should be fired
i saw a video on someone cutting one open and the problem seems to be the oring for sealing the anvil is way to tight and they dont come lubed. not very good R&D or design from a major company and their "pro" line of tools
@@RyldUpLtd they went for the "toothcout". They have a much better ratchet under Facom, same sealed design, but just a normal 72t gear. Much better and smoother. Not sure why even bother in changing the gear to a dual pawl stack. They made the ratchet to fat and huge backdrag.
@andrestnt agreed. these ratchets are probably going to collect dust until I higher a apprentice, then they will be their problem lol
That single ratchet probably killed the brand. Kind of sad, as all their other tools are pretty epic.
ya they really dropped the ball on the ratchet, i just got some of the wrenches of sale and they are really nice
How? 😅, the ratchets weren't available in store and very hard to find. But it did the opposite actually, many also bought the other tools and liked them. Also the exposure they got from these sales is quite good. They just need to fix the issues and reduce the price.
@@andrestnt personally i think the ratchet is the most critiqued tool ever, and myself and I'm sure a lot of other mechanics judge a tool line based on the ratchets. the ratchet is the anchor of a good tool line. that being said craftsman really dropped the ball BAD with the V series ratchet. but hopefully they make a come back
@@RyldUpLtd mechanic judges tools multiple things, not just ratchets. It's why we owned multiple ratchets 😂. This line was non-existent for consumers until they decided to do a sale. They made mistakes for sure. But they can correct them in version 2.0. You know like those icon ratchets that hf decided to redo. The other tools are quite good, so I'm content with the price paid.
Apply lube under the selector switch, and it will work its way into the head and smooth out the mechanism. There is no seal there. I use WD-40 Specialist Silicone lubricant.
ya i soaked the heads in a cup of silicone lube for a few days and they spun them with a impact to break them in, they are ok now but still not even close to other mid range brands like GW
the inside measurement for the dewalt hex is 16mm which is the same I believe for the milwaukee insider sockets. Has anyone tested if they will fit? I do see that the socket retention on milwaukee is part of the ratchet which is different from the dewalt so even if they did work, they would fall out without some retention work around.
they don't fit sadly
Very good advice. I've always figured, its worth finding out if the cheapest option is at least viable at all. Then, you also won't ever use a tool unless you actually have it around, so without investing much you'll find out if it's really worth having at all. 2 birds with one stone Some stuff though seems to just break no matter what and its not really worth getting the high end but its a crapshoot either way if cheap or mid will last or not
true. and there is a lot of cheap stuff i have get that turned out great. so no reason to pay for a better one
You could have all the tools in the world and still be missing something out of that toolbox tools are the coolest man and anything to help a mechanic out because some of the vehicles y'all work on nowadays blows my mind man nothing like the old school
i agree. i love it though because it gives me an excuse to fuel my tool addiction
@RyldUp-uo3pc 🤣😂🤣 yeah that's the best excuse ever we can never have enough that's for sure
Best advice for learners💥
C clamps work well to
80% of the time i agree, where this tool really steps up in dual piston calipers and speed
Newbie here, what does it do?
The name of the tool is a "break caliper press"
@ ohh okay so it’s just for rework on calipers pistons
@@jaketedderr you put it in the caliper after you take it off and as you ratchet it, it spreads and pushed the piston/pistons back in to give you the space foe new pads/rotors
@@RyldUpLtd ohh okay i see now, thank you for the response. Must be a lil different for brembo brakes cause i didn’t need one to change my pads
@@jaketedderr ya for bike calipers this tool is a little big lol
Amen.
When they had the three ratchets for $60 on Clarence, even though I only buy snap on ratchet I was pretty impressed until I felt the back drag on the ratchets I wouldn’t give them $30 for three
Yeah, same, the ratchets aren't great. The V series ratcheting wrenches are fantastic and the XL ratcheting flex head double box end set is great too, some skips though
i am in the same boat. i got them to try them and glad i only spent $40cad on them
You don’t even know what the fuck you’re talking about I can just hear how many times it clicks for how short of a distance it turns it has a high tooth count on the gear inside of it which makes them a lot more expensive and better of a tool because you don’t have toSwing the ratchet as far to get that next click to engage
i wonder if the astro nano sockicts work
They do not however the 3/8” nano sockets do fit the Apex tools 3/8” pass through ratchets branded Sata, gearwrench, crescent and others
Thanks for sharing the tip man. I think the dcf510 is a phenomenal tool for my needs and the most torquey lil ratchet I’ve used. The swap-able anvil really is a game changer, the m12 Nsider was a bit of a letdown in a sense, the anvil comes out with the sockets every time you use it and the 510 that’s only happened a couple times and the m12 has a bit of a stutter sometimes, obviously form factor is far superior on the m12 but also I see these as very different tools I literally use the 510 on the underside of the car and the m12 being smaller and less powerful it does much better topside imo, after some refinement the insiders gonna be hard to beat tho
They do not sadly. i believe they are 17mm. but the dewalt sealed head is 16mm
Just drill the back of the socket out so it is a pass-thru socket
Fun fact delwalt makes Mac's electric tools
Stanley black and decker owns both of the company’s so it makes sense
There isn't a single person who doesn't know that😂
Fun fact the batteries say powered by DeWalt BC it's the same batteries
