      Providing two excerpts here with links for further info. One article indicates it should go away on its own, but some may need medical help: "An overactive vagus nerve can result in fainting. Energy balancing can be used as a treatment of under- and overactive vagus nerve disorders." SOURCE: www.drannedeatly.com/blog/stress-and-the-vagus-nerve/ And: "Most people will experience a vasovagal response due to a stressor or overstimulation of the vagus nerve at some point. Blood pressure lowers, heart rate slows, and the blood vessels in your legs widen, which can cause nausea or fainting. This is a generally harmless response which goes away on its own, however, some people who experience it more chronically may need to seek medical help." SOURCE: zenfounder.com/managing-stress/hacking-the-system-what-you-need-to-know-about-the-vagus-nerve/ Hope this helps give you some direction, and possibly seeking the help of practitioners in energy work, breathing techniques and emotional health are implied to be helpful for both under-active or over-active vagus nerve.

    i AM LIVING WITH CUSSION SYNDROME BUT HAVE NOT HAD ANY TREATMENT AND DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS ANY PLACE LIKE THIS. NOW I AM LEARNING SO MUCH. I HAVE HAD PROBABLY OVER 15 CONCUSSIONS IN ONE YEAR. DUE TO THE FIRST 3 CUNCUSSIONS THEY HAVE CAUSED THE REST OF OF THE CUNCUSSIONS. I AM HAVING SO MANY EFFECTS THAT I AM BASICALLY NON FUNCTIONING AND FEEL TOTALLY HOPELESS. THIS IS WONDERFUL TO FIND BUT UNFORTUNATELY I CANNOT AFFORD TO GO TO COGNITIVE FX AND THAT HAS LEFT ME FEELING LIKE THERE NEVER WILL BE ANY HOPE OF ME HAVING ANY KIND OF LIFE AGAIN.TRAPED INSIDE OF MY OWN DISFUNCTIONING BODY WITH NO HOPE FOR LOVE OR LIFE. I LIVE IN ILLINOIS AND WILL PRAY FOR A MIRACLE SO AS TO BE ABLE TO VISIT COGNITIVE FX IN UTAH MY ONLY HOPE FOR ANY POSSIBILITY OF FINDING ME AGAIN.

      Dear Catherine, am so terribly sorry to hear that you have not rec'd any treatment for your concussions. And yes, you are correct - the prior concussions (especially without acknowledgement or diagnosis) has indeed set you up for further concussions. This is due to the ongoing symptoms such as vision issues, balance issues, etc. There is hope though - and knowledge is the first step. Next, it is important to have your concussion history documented with your family physician, then check to see what concussion / traumatic brain injury diagnosis is available through them. And most importantly to see if possible to obtain occupational therapy to help you cope with the ongoing symptoms you still contend with. If you are on Facebook, there are several brain injury support groups - start searching & start joining. You will find others also going through what you are experiencing and many people (especially in your area) will have suggestions on what doctors you have access to. You can also check to see what brain injury associations are in your area and seeing what programs you may have access to. For many how are contending with undiagnosed brain injuries, we are also faced with the financial burden of obtaining the best therapies & healing modalities that will enable us to keep going. In that case, then as you become your best advocate, it is important to further educate yourself about the complexities of brain injuries, as well as learning better coping strategies to help you navigate your day-to-day functioning. Please be sure to review the other videos we have posted, especially the 3-part series on learning better coping strategies. We wish you well on your continuing journey to wellness. Never give up, there is always hope, and learning better ways to manage this highly misunderstood, highly undiagnosed injury.

    Hi! Is the information in this video for vagus nerve stimulation solely for help to regulate an underactive vagus nerve? Or is it helpful for an overactive one, as well? Thanks!

    • @calgaryconcussionawareness5944
      @calgaryconcussionawareness5944 4 года назад

      Please be sure to refer to the references provided in the description section above for your own research & general knowledge specific to your situation. AND AS MENTIONED IN OUR PRESENTATION, IT IS ALWAYS WISE TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. What is presented here is our interpretation of the research advising on how to stimulate an underactive vagus nerve and specifically as it relates to those contending with a concussive injury.

      @@calgaryconcussionawareness5944 Thanks! I understand, and did read and acknowledge all info you provided. My question was in regard to what is mentioned in the video. While the info does initially mention signs and symptoms of overactive vagus nerve, the rest of the video seems to pertain only to underactive, including the results of the research. So, I'm not asking you to diagnose me and give me a prognosis. I'm aware that is my responsibility to seek out. My question is to clarify what is not mentioned in the video: did the research find that vagus nerve stimulation helps both overactive and underactive? Or simply underactive, as more specifically focused on in this video? Thanks!

    • @calgaryconcussionawareness5944
      @calgaryconcussionawareness5944 4 года назад

      @@ToniAnnBarandon Yes, that is correct---all the research we came across refers to an underactive vagus nerve. Very little info about overactive (other than what was mentioned in our presentation). However, after some digging, came across this info you may find helpful: "Vagus nerve disorders arise when the nerve is either under- or overactive. An underactive vagus nerve results in a drop in the heart rate and severe gastrointestinal problems, nausea, heartburn, stomach pains, stomach spasms and weight loss because the digestive system lacks the chemicals it needs to break down food. An overactive vagus nerve can result in fainting. Energy balancing can be used as a treatment of under- and overactive vagus nerve disorders. SOURCE: www.drannedeatly.com/blog/stress-and-the-vagus-nerve/ And this: "Most people will experience a vasovagal response due to a stressor or overstimulation of the vagus nerve at some point. Blood pressure lowers, heart rate slows, and the blood vessels in your legs widen, which can cause nausea or fainting. This is a generally harmless response which goes away on its own, however, some people who experience it more chronically may need to seek medical help." SOURCE: zenfounder.com/managing-stress/hacking-the-system-what-you-need-to-know-about-the-vagus-nerve/ Hope this helps give you some direction, but clearly no definitive answer/proof if the methods used to stimulate an underactive vagus nerve is also useful for an overactive one. Other than seeking the help of practitioners in energy work, breathing techniques and emotional health are implied to be helpful for both.
