Today we needed to do some example gears for our #bambulabs #x1carbon and the #anycubic #vyper 3d printers. We printed off some gears that were designed using #fusion360 sliced with the Bambu Labs #slicer as well as the #cura slicer and printed. These gears were then added to a series of 5v DC motors which were powered by AA battery packs.

the printer stops when runout of filament?
Yup! The filament run out sensor detects that we are out of filament. Which stops the machine and allows us to replace the spool.

We’ve got a local Hyperball Setup that we play at here in TN! My roots are from when XBall first kicked off (many years ago), and it’s been hard finding anyone running it locally. Hows the performance of bambu lab x1e
I’ve really enjoyed the X1C but it isn’t perfect. I still have issues just like any other printer but it ultimately performs pretty good. I love the speed and multi-color capabilities, its overall quality is really good, and it’s a reasonable price point for what you’re getting.
I want to make a special cup for my dog so he can drink water, is this material good enough or will it leak through it?
Hey! I wouldn’t recommend PLA for this application due to its hydrophilic nature. You can absolutely make water right prints with it, however it will degrade it quality as the material absorbs water over time. @@Meowinater3000 yup! That is the way I usually do it. This was a bit of an experiment. Doing it as the entire support is pretty wasteful.

Hey! I actually just used the standard PLA profile on this one in Cura. What issues are you running into? Maybe we can get you dialed in so you can get it printed!

@@Greasecookies no worries! There are a few things I’ll recommend. First, clean your build plate with isopropyl alcohol and a lint free cloth, if your build plate is worn out then go ahead and get a new one. When you are slicing your models, try adding a brim to the print. This will add a single layer of lines (as many as you set in the slicer) around your model. This gives a lot more surface area to try and keep the print from warping or coming unstuck. Another option you can try is by using the Raft feature in your slicer. A raft is exactly what it sounds like, you are printing a raft beneath your 3D print (like a Lilly pad with a frog on it. The Lilly is the raft and the frog would be your 3D print). These are a few starting points, if this doesn’t help solve your issue let me know. We can get it figured out! Happy 3D printing and thanks for the questions!
