Every one talking about how shocked they are seeing these gospel groups talking and acting like this. You all don't know the half of it. When JD Sumner was with Elvis…. JD took full advantage of all the groupies. There are pictures supporting this….along with Richard Sterban and the other members of the Stamps. The Isaacs…Sonja Isaacs really liked the men…and cheated numerous times on her husband back in the day. Just because someone sings gospel music doesn't make them a saint. They are no better than anyone else. Although they can be self righteous pricks.

London was a classic bass. I remember seeing him and the Rebels Quartet as well as the Apostles. Steve Warren was a most talented musician and tenor in southern gospel music. He had such a range. I have long wished he and Nic Val, an excellent bass singer who also had great range, had done a project called the Two Man Quartet. Steve would cover the lead and tenor and Nic the bass and baritone. That would have been a fabulous sound!

I saw The Masters V back in 1982 in Firrest City Arkansas. I was 19 years old. Very blessed.

This was a famous live album recoded in Long Beach, CA. If you listen closely when the Big Chief comes out and James says: “Well that’s rather something, one bass singer complementing another.” The Big Chief yells: “That was no congratulations.” Chief and JD, though ‘rivals’ were good friends!
