GeoNodes for 2D Animators
00:00 - intro
00:17 - look at Daniel Martínez Lara's demo instead
00:25 - new file, rotating gp object, changing drawing plane
01:05 - my setup
01:27 - setting up 'clay' geometry node
04:15 - adding a basic material
07:00 - setting up 'lineart' geometry node
09:03 - arranging objects in space
10:36 - setup complete, onto drawing
12:06 - (noise) modifiers
12:46 - adding lights
14:55 - basic export settings
this is how i worked on my short 'kick it';
i will caveat, i'm mostly a 2d artist! there's likely a few details i'm fuzzy on
the most valuable part of this video is walking you through a very basic geo nodes setup
it does not cover much of actually drawing in grease pencil;

gorgeous! i love cartoons!!!
thank you!

I absolutely love this. Blender will be the reason Ai won’t be able to take over.
very very lovely
This is one of those videos that will randomly get 60 million views 10 years after being posted for absolutelly no reason
thanks riley
you are welcome squibbian
was shocked when I saw view count was 1.8k and not 1.8M
it is now your duty to achieve this number. good luck
this is crazy good, so cool
thank you!
Yes, self-drive taxi will start the engine after full explosion. I like it 😂
i was not expecting the end but still awesome
best part of youtube is these little videos that eventually explode, cool cool cool stuff :)
Thank you for sharing!!
yw! i hope the quick loop behind the geonodes is helpful, i can't wait to get a better handle on them myself
This iss incredibly good, I'm surprised it does not have more views. Altough the action is somewhat abstract, I felt it was about long distance and separation very fast, this is conveying its sense very well.
thank you very much!
Truly good and unique art !
this is awesome
Can I kick it? Yes you can
omg ty for making this
yw! i look forward to seeing what you make w it!
YAAYY THANKS I havent cracked open blender yet but from a full watch thru everything is making total sense so far. can't wait to try it out- Ive messed with models and rigging here and there but animating them is still beyond my comprehension. now turning 2d into 3d is something I can get behind
If you can use the sculpt tool, it's actually pretty easy to animate this stuff in a 3d space as well! rigging and all that is not my favorite, so being able to capture the spirit of 2d drawn animation w 3d materials is such a cool addition
great tutorial, I'm really excited to try this out!
gl and have fun with it!
if you end up with any questions I'll do my best to answer 🌞
Commenting for exposure This is really good
thank you!
ok this video finally sold me i need to learn blender now
even grease pencil without geonodes is a great great tool for animators!
is this 2d, 3d, stop motion. i truley cant tell, though i do think its 3d. someone tell me if im right😭
it was all done with 2d drawings, which I'm able to generate 3d meshes based off of, so a little of everything?
I love this, thought it was Felix Colgrave at first
I bet this'll blow up like 10 years from now
i would prefer sooner
LOVE this! Though it wax real first, I need to learn these magic geo nodes huh
they're so good, now i need to learn more about blender's 3d shaders. even using these super simply to have your gp objects cast/receive accurate light and shadows is wild i'm gonna be making a brief tutorial on how i did this soon, but there's a demo file here that's probably much more elegant than the setup i hacked together ruclips.net/video/tx_dYeNxhQ0/видео.html
Here before 1k views, how do i find this
Its look's like an animation 11 years ago, and I love it... I think this animation will get 30 millions views or something...
Absolutely love the art style, amazing work!
Wait I wish my teacher made cool demos like this in class...
this is sweet nicolas cage approves
thank you nco (nicholas cage official)
this already looked awesome in line form but it goes CRAZAYY in geometry node form
geo nodes are SO COOL i will not be over the amount of stuff they allow as i continue to understand them + shaders
This animation style is really cool!!
thank you!
prenominal work 👏👏
awesome sauce
this is immaculate
Even the lighting is IMMACULATE
What the fuck I really enjoy this. Keep doing whatever this is, I'm here for it
🫡
Not the amogus car!!!
i didn't realize... ඞ
This is the type of video that will get recommended to like a million people on a random tuesday
one can only hope they are blessed by the whims of the machine
I have a good feeling about this video@@unibrawn
It was already randomly recommended to me on my homepage
got recced this by the youtube algo, and I have to say, this is one of the most unique art/animation styles I've ever seen, and it looks SUPER cool??? I love the way the shadows appear on everything, it's almost surreal. would love to see more like this
thank you! i'm hopeful to do more, i love the fake multiplane effect
dude, this is incredible
I like this
The explosion at the end saved the plot.
Adorei, muito fofinho😆
beautiful
Hehe
nice
omg i love this style!! crazy how its all with grease pencil
the 4.3 update giving geo nodes for gp is realllly a game changer
might aswell...
