I’ve eaten at many restaurants on trips to NYC. This is the only establishment where I’ve experienced rude service by a staff member. I guess since they are so popular as a tourist trap, Katz’s feels that they can get away with it & have no consequences.
Their package that is supposed to make 8 sandwiches only made one to two. Totally misleading and my meat package had a hole and they didn’t replace it.
I got the birthday box that is supposed to make 8 sandwiches. You can make only one or two if you put the amount of meat it should have

When I lived in New York, I would travel from the north East Bronx, 233RD AND WHITE PLAINS RD, TO COME EAT AT KATZ"S WITH MY DAD AND BROTHER EVERY PAYDAY FOR 20 YRS MY DAD WORKED FOR TRANSIT SURFACE LINE BUSES HE WAS A DIESEL MECHANIC. WE LOVE YOU STILL, MY QUESTION IS DO YOU SHIP LONG DISTANCE? TO MARYLAND.

Everything looks incredibly delicious! I always wanted to experience Katz's Deli. This is real Jewish comfort food. This place is a real gem!
A simple Corned beef sandwich on rye with a little mustard is the food of the gods!
When I was a teen, we always went to Katz's when we raided the city for the Dead shows. I miss those days!

I never knew corned beef like this existed. I’ve only seen the canned stuff here in the UK.
There is usually corned beef and pastrami at grocery store meat counters. You can buy it by the pound. It isn't homemade like Katz's, its shipped to them plastic wrapped from a meat producer. I like Hillshire Farm's pastrami, sliced thin and sold in 8 oz. Packages. I make a mean pastrami reuben. Rye or pumpernickel bread is the best. Be sure to squeeze the juice out of the sourkraut or it will get soggy.👍

Im visiting ny soon and planning to go here. So i get the ticket go to the cutter tell him what i want and give the ticket to him and then i get it back and the sandwhich. Now if i want a drink to my sandwhich i need to go to the side/soda thing and have to wait in line again?
If that reuben is $75 it's worth every dime. I haven't been there in almost 50 years. Would love to go there again, but I wouldn't set one pinky toe in NYC now. I left NY in the early 1980s

Just got back from New York, went to Katz's twice. We went I'm the morning @ 9am and had pastrami sandwiches for breakfast. And it was amazing both times! And the staff were wicked nice! If you're worried about money you shouldn't be vacationing in NYC!
If you’re vacationing.. exactly my guy. Locals ain’t eating that overpriced shit, that’s a tourist trap fr. Customer service is absolute trash and you can find a sandwich just as good at a shop for a quarter of the price.

Ive been going to Katz deli for 30 years. The best corned beef and pastrami around. The texture and flavor of that corned beef is UNMATCHED. If you haven't had a Katz corned beef sandwich, you haven't had corned beef.
This is overcomplicated
This makes me think of a story Jacob Richler tells of being a kid in Montreal. His dad was the famous writer Mordecai Richler. Dad was also a fan of anything deli. He used to send one of the kids down to Schwartz's in Montreal by cab. He would have pre-ordered the food and the kid paid the guy and got the food. Mordecai always ordered two medium fat Montreal smoked meat sandwiches (similar to Schwartz's pastrami) and an order of pickles for himself. The lucky kid who did the cab run (this was long before Uber or Lyft) collected the loot and was rewarded with an extra sandwich for himself.
If only Frank Costanza (Seinfeld episode) had done this with the meat in his Korea days, and spiced it according to Katz's recipe, the men would have thrived on a taste of beef from back home in NYC.
Does anyone order a variation on the pastrami on rye sandwich? I heard of a guy doing half pastrami, half chicken liver.
