I feel sorry for everyone who was in this town, especially people who had graduation or a birthday or some kind of big event that would’ve lasted a core memory but this beast of a rain wrap tornado absolutely tore through the town so yet again I’m sorry

My Birthday had a tragedy

Camera was pointing the wrong way. They are looking north. The main destruction was 1.3 miles SOUTH.

We had an EF1 hit my hometown back in April, and even now I still get nervous thinking about it. I can’t even imagine how terrifying the Joplin tornado must’ve been for those involved.

people make fun of them looking the doors but i feel that they had good reason to. sure it wouldnt have stopped the ef5 tornado that would have atomized the building had it been hit, but the not-so-ef5 winds still could have forcefully opened the doors, allowing the wind, rain, and other things in the air to freely enter the building. it wouldnt stop a missile-like 2x4, but it could stop smaller bits of debris, the rain, and the weaker winds that the store experienced.

We had to take cover in the bathroom at work, in a factory, probably about 40 of us... it smelled like feet and ass so bad I walked out and said I'll take my chances with the tornado

Interesting info: I know a structural engineer who went to Joplin days after the tornado to inspect buildings to say whether they were write-offs or could be repaired. To my surprise he said that even with an EF 5 tornado there was a difference between a well-built house and a poorly-built house. The kind of building that fared best was an old-fashioned stone structure.

That poor lady looked in shock. But I bet she'll never forget being let inside. I only heard about this tornado a few months ago via Swegle Studios channel. A true horror story.

I might be wrong but I think I would have left the doors unlocked. The wind opening them was releasing the pressure inside & the pressure on the windows.

I grew up in Joplin for almost 20 years, graduation 2010 JHS. We all grew accustomed to the sirens due to decades of cry wolf,till that horrifying day. The wolf finally came,buddies and me were downtown Joplin on a day off watching this monster go into Joplin like watching a Godzilla movie.

Im amazed that they still had power as the lights were still on ......

I was in bham in April 27th 2011 working in a restaurant. It was one of the scariest days of my life and this video brought back some memories. The sky was a pea green and I stepped outside before it hit and it was so quiet. Awful.

So after all the devastation in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma, you thought it was a good idea to put this on from 13 years ago. Come on.

Never shut all your windows or doors. Your house is less likely to explode from the tornado. Most people don't know this but it's not the wind that destroys your home but the pressure. The pressure is a tornado is extremely low so when it hits your home the pressure is much higher in the home causing it to explode.💥💥💥 but if you're winders are open the pressure is released like a fart

I've been to Joplin a couple times for work. It's sad seeing half the town with new buildings (the ones that got hit in 2011) and the other half of town with old buildings. It's a really hard not to notice, reminder of what happened in Joplin.

This is an bad example when you get tornado warning, dont go out and check on the tornado, seek shelter asap, you might get hurt.

April 27 2011 in my hometown Ringgold a EF4 destroyed the city booth and my school got destroyed rip everyone that has died ur awesome and I hope u had a great life and ur having a great afterlife I hope this EF5 wasn't as destructive but reality sucks

Why the heck would you just record the rain where the hell is the tornado at y'all are acting like this was a video about the tornado hitting this building. Essentially you just got a thunderstorm on video step your game up and you didn't get hit by the tornado you were next to it it's not the same thing
