I can definitely see why they changed it to make it sound much more grand and otherworldly in a climactic way...but honestly, this is quite awesome as well! This ost wouldn't fit in the Grand Searchlights encounter compared to the current one, but I can see this one being used before we actually have to deal with the Searchlight when repairing those machines. The ost here sounds much lower without the climactic feel, much sinister and secretive as if we feel something watching us in the dark...something that isn't like the other entities that we encountered...something that isn't even an entity at all and instead a real Lifeform without any experiments done to it. Picture this: After all that stress from dodging entities after entities, we are suddenly postponing our main goal to instead fix some machines. Obviously we, the player aka a convict, are frustrated at having to slow down a step from our freedom yet we have to do it anyways for this shady company. Onces these two machines were finished, we are heading down the stairs to continue our mundane little side job, the boredom and frustration within us making us deaf from the water pressure noise deep down outside of the stairs. But then...an orange glowing light beam shines through the damaged walls to us, us being confused at what just locked on to us. We don't think much of it considering all the crazy things that happened here so we descend further down, thinking it may be a machine of some srot yet also having this internal gut feeling that were being *watched*. Suppressing that feeling in order to get over with this side job is our only current option, however another orange light shines at us through the cracks of the walls...killing our annoyance to replace it confusion and fear. This Ost kicks in as we can only go further down, yet still feel *something* is moving down with us and realise something very bad is about to happen in this unassuming little mission, the dread of this unknown thing making us guess countless of possibilities yet never give a true satisfying answer. This mission was supposed to be our freedom, yet it feels like another cage that we are unable to do anything but go along with it, despite being out of the prison we are still hunted. The ost ends for a moment as we let out a sigh of relief from this nerve-wracking walk that felt like ages, waiting in front of the slowly opening gate to have a break-when suddenly the real Ost kicks as were greeted by a organic orange monster that looks too real to be scientifically made, yet out of this world to be here in reality. The being detects a corpse with that same orange light beam we thought were nothing serious, only to see it focus with it on the corpse to launch a harpoon on it and sent it straight to their devilish mouth. And now...we have to face the unknown that was watching us in a calculative way the moment we changed plans from our main goal.
