This is such a good video to help students with well-chosen examples. When the command term "compare" is used, students should ONLY give similarities. (Compare: Give an account of the similarities between two (or more) items or situations, referring to both (all) of them throughout.). For compare AND contrast, students need to give similarities AND differences. Distinguish asks for differences. As an IB Biology examiner for HL paper 2, I see a lot of students missing out on marks for "compare" and "compare and contrast" because they are unaware about this or forget.
