Kevin Stuart Builds
Великобритания
Добавлен 29 янв 2020
Follow me as I embark on building Part work scale models of various interesting vehicles from movie cars like the Back to the Future Delorean and the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 to Super cars like the Iconic Ferrari F40 Competizione, and even the Battle of Britain's legendary Supermarine Spitfire Mk1A.
I will be bringing these vehicles to life in week by week installments from some of the best names in scale model part builds, names like Eaglemoss, Hachette and Centauria.
Follow the highs and the lows of the weekly part build model builder. The frustration when the parts just won't go together as easily as they show in the magazine. The joy when I finally get the electrics to work. The awesome end results.

After Eaglemoss stopped trading we were never going to get the case that a lot of us paid for, but a company in the UK is now producing an acrylic case. In this video I assemble and fit this case to the original base that Eaglemoss did provide. The quality of this case is amazing and the easy of assembly is also very good.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Trying to find this one it's a hard one😡 but love your work 💯
Many thanks for the comment, I must admit I am really enjoying this build, it can be a bit frustrating at times, but well worth it in the end. Stick with it. Thanks so much for the continued support.
I found once I got the roof on the roof pillars wouldn't line up
Hi and thanks for the comment, I think you can see that I had the same issue, it took a lot of fettling to get the roof lined up, a bit of very gentle bending. Good luck and hope you get it sorted and fitted eventually. It can be a very difficult build this one.
I'm building mine following the books, it makes sense if you follow instructions, came here to find out what I'm missing for the instructions in issue 91 as it hasn't been delivered yet and you skipped the instructions and did a whole 4min video on the lens which is installed later Btw the engine cradle attaches to the body in issue 92, if you're gonna do a video series, do it properly
Hi and thanks for watching, and for the feedback, all I can say is that I gave up using the magazine instructions a good few issues ago, (about issue 10) and so did the makers of the car, because they produced construction videos and they are what I use as my reference for these videos, and my car went together OK and everything worked on it. I do feel your frustration with having different sets of instructions, if you want to see issue 91's actual instructions, you can see them at the end of my issue 90 video, but they are all about assembling parts onto the engine framing, and in the video builds the car is together by now. Anyway good luck with the build, however you choose to do it.
Beautiful car. I really want one but have not found one currently being offered for the US.
Sorry to hear that
Hello, do you know where the other end of the plug of cable part number 13 is attached?
Hi and thanks for the question, I will look over the video myself and see if I can remember, it has been a while since I did this issue and to be honest I am trying to forget it. It is a nightmare issue.
Hi I have looked over all my videos, and I can't see where I talk about cable 13, but I have looked at this video (issue 29) again and at 32:30 you see me talk about this pipe going to nothing, you do see me just tuck the end of the pipe into one of the holes under the inlet manifold in the middle of the engine. and I think that is what I did, as the magazine instructions never tell you what to do with the free end of this pipe, so that is all I can tell you, sorry but I just fed it down into the engine through one of the holes in the engine block. Hope that helps.
I'm glad I am not the only one who has 17 attempts at these things before getting it assembled. I would be a bit lost without these videos!!!! I have been putting issue 29 off for nearly a year. It's a monster.
It was/is an absolute nightmare of an issue. Even tough I finished this build a while ago I can still remember the pain of it. Good luck, just take your time and have lots of breaks. Thanks for the nice comment about the videos.
Nice Video Dude. And I Just Subscribed To You. 😃👍.
Awesome thank you!
Hey Kev. That bike really looks great. Looks really good when it is done. Take care Sir
Many Thanks, It has been a good build to be fair. All the best for your builds.
@@kevinstuartbuilds3792 Thanks Kev
I’m building one and your video has been invaluable thanks 🙏
Thank you for the comment, I am glad that my videos have helped. It defiantly wasn't the easiest build, but I do think it look great now it is done, and everyone who sees it is very impressed with the flying display. I hope that yours worked out good in the end. Many thanks for watching, your support really means a lot.
Amazing well done
Thank you so much 😀
Hey Kevin. This is my first time seeing your channel. I am building this Charger. But I am only at 21-25 stages. I like it so far. Just having a lot of fun with this build. My next one will be the 1966 Batmobile. I see you are on the Valentino rossie bike. I think it's all cool. Great build man take care
Hi, Thanks a lot for the comment, sorry I haven't replied sooner, RUclips, has a funny way of hiding comments from me! Glad you are enjoying the dodge charger. After this I think I am doing the Fast & Furious Nissan SkyLine. The Batmobile looks like it is going to be very nice so good luck with that build. Thank you very much for watching, and I hope you enjoy the rest of this build.
@@kevinstuartbuilds3792 That Nissan will be fun and a very nice build. I will subscribe to your channel so that I don't miss anything. Good luck buddy. Take care
@@jamesmaroon6161 thank you very much, your support means a lot to me. I hope the Nissan is a good build, it looks awesome from the promotional stuff on FanHomes website. But I will wait and see when I get into the build. Hope your future and current builds go well.
@@kevinstuartbuilds3792 Thanks. Take care
Nice work Kevin!
Thanks! Its been a long journey, but really glad that it's turned out so nice.
Thank you Kevin for the videos! Glad you’re happy! Your Ecto is looking stunning! 🤩👍
And thank you for all your amazing work. Your attention to detail is outstanding. Both my Ecto and Delorean wouldn't be the showstoppers they are without your mods.
Hiya I liked your video, I just bought I complete model of the delorean, but I don't know where to put batteries or how to turn in on? Please help thankyou?
Hi Sorry for the late reply, RUclips didn't flag it for me. However the battery panel is under the car and is just back from the front wheels, its in the middle of a triangle panel, which also has the on/off switch. hope this helps. My car doesn't use batteries as it uses a lot of power, there are some power mods out there for Delorean, but it would mean taking the car apart again, which is not easy.
Merry Christmas Kevin. Still been watching since F40 days !
Thanks for the comment and for watching. I loved the F40 (even the frustrating bits) enjoying the motorbike at the moment. Hope you are having a great Christmas, and all the best for the New Year. Cheers.
That is a very nice modelkit. What brand is that?
It’s a part build kit. It’s available on the DeAgostini website.
Aup, got a deagostini build the lamborghini countach if you or any viewers from the UK 🇬🇧 are interested, partly built but I no longer have the desire or passion for these 18th scale builds or any builds for that matter, has the original unopened display case and il chuck in the F40 display case as I had 1 to many, price wise £650 - 700, postage needs to be paid though, cheers 👍
Thanks for the offer, but I am currently doing the two builds and that is defiantly enough for me. I will leave the comment on the page in case anyone else fancies it. Also I don't know if you are on Facebook, but there is a partworks exchange group on there that is a good place to advertise builds that you don't want to continue with. Sorry to hear that you are no longer interested in these builds, but defiantly know that it can happen, I know that I do sometimes struggle to get the motivation to get the builds out and filmed etc. Many thanks for watching.
WoW! that is a big one.
😆😆
@@kevinstuartbuilds3792 But where do yoiu get those big ones and how much is it?
Hi stuart good build on the Dodge charger Dose the light work on issue 51 build the Dodge charger
Hi and thanks for the comment and for watching. Yeah all the lights work so far on this build. The only problem I have had with the electrical system on this car has been the connectors on the micro switches that I have had to cut down. Cheers.
@@kevinstuartbuilds3792 Hi kevin I have problem with issue 51 build the Dodge charger it is the brake pedal switch I Do not no any body how can help me I will cover the postage
@@DavidSummerfield-d1r I would look at removing the unused connectors on the micro switch. I show this on the video. Also try bending the connectors with the wires flat. It’s all shown in the videos. I am sorry though I can’t except parts from your model to try and fix. You ca. also try and watch other RUclips channels to see if there are any other fixes out there. Hope you get it working. However I wouldn’t be too bothered about the electrical systems on an of these builds, you won’t use them much, if at all after it’s built.
Australia, im just putting the finishing touches on my F40, and the window wiper keeps falling off and also the rear view mirror has now come off, just enough pain 😂😂 enjoyed your build, now starting the Titanic 🦘🇦🇺👍❤️
Hi and many thanks for watching, I am so glad you enjoyed it. It was a frustrating build in places and yeah I had things falling off right up until the end. I also slightly damaged the windscreen when I fitted it to the car and ordered and paid for a new one, however it never showed up, so after several emails with no response I gave up. However and much to my amazement the replacement screen turned up about a week ago, over a year since I finished the build. Hope you really enjoy the Titanic build and hope it is a lot less stress than this one was. Cheers.
£1,000 Toy aircraft without weathering, why would anyone pay that for this❓
Firstly not a toy! Next why would someone pay £1000 for a golf club membership? Or £1000 to go to an over crowded Spanish beach to eat crap food. But more importantly why would someone comment on how other people spend their money!!!!£
@@kevinstuartbuilds3792 When you spend 1000 quid you expect quality. That thing is an expensive toy. The panel fit is terrible. The amount of detail is bettered by the Tamiya 1/32 kit for a FIFTH the cost. Hachette support is pathetic. The R & D has been done by the customer. Also there is the saying 'A fool is easily parted with his money'. It's the same with the Lancaster.
@@ekspatriat Whilst I would definitely agree that there are some issues with the model, (panel gaps are awful) I am overall happy with the Spitfire, the cockpit and the Merlin engine are both very well detailed and look good. Once again it’s not a toy, you don’t ‘play’ with it, it’s no more a toy than a plastic model, and I agree that they can be much better for a lot less money, personally I like the look of the 1/24 Airfix Spitfire, but they take a lot of skill to make look good, and of course don’t have working lights and undercarriage etc. personally I love that saying, used mainly by idiots who are jealous of other people’s money, because as I said it’s what you consider foolish, is spending £1000’s on a season ticket to see your team lose most of their games foolish? So I don’t generally comment on how other people spend their money, and just let people enjoy whatever they choose to do. Thanks for the comment.
Whether it yourself like a normal model. Have you seen the deagostini millennium falcon and the paint jobs guys have done on that? phenominal.
Nice work! I see a set for sale on eBay for $3100 😅 I am considering building one myself. 😊
It is a great model when built. The build itself is a bit frustrating in places and the magazine instructions are terrible. But overall I would recommend it. Not sure if that is a good price, I think all in it probably cost me around £1,250. ($1,600) but it is now not available to buy from the part works build company, but they do occasionally rerelease builds. Good luck.
is that the actual sound of the engine or is it just the electronics there kevin and are you in the UK or AUS?
Hi and thanks for the question, and for watching. The sound on the video is the sound that the model makes, so it’s from the standard installed electronics. It’s not very good and the speaker is very poor quality, but I never really bother too much about the electronics on these models they are usually poor and can be very easily damaged so they don’t work. They are mainly static models and I very rarely show off the electronics, it is nice though to have it all working. I am in the UK. Thanks again.
Hi Kevin not messaged for a while since you / we finished the F40. Just to let you know that I've just started the deagostini lotus 97T and I strongly recommend it. Way better quality than the others I've done and a truly beautiful machine. Look at some of the other RUclipsrs vids of it... anyway hope your well, enjoying your current builds etc
Many thanks for the comment and glad you have found another build that you are enjoying. Also really good to hear that it’s good quality. I will definitely have a look at it. Great to hear from you again, and thanks for your support. Take care. Cheers.
What issue is that
Hi the other end of the brake line goes on the rear axel, and that gets fitted in issue 41
In Australia I'm coming up to this stage next few issues but I think I will try a dot of glue then chill the metal spoiler in the fridge because it should contract ? 🤔
Hi and thanks for the comment. It’s a very difficult issue as getting the spoiler end plates in place both at the same time is very hard. I definitely think the super glue is a good idea, but be very careful and only use a very small amount as you don’t want it to be seen after it’s fitted. I didn’t think about the cooling idea, but it might help to just get it in place as it’s a bit tight. To be honest it’s fiddly and you need a few hands to get it in, but patience and persistence is probably the best way. Best of luck.
@@kevinstuartbuilds3792 Thanks Kevin 🦘🇦🇺❤️
Hi kevin stuart good build on the radiator for the Dodge charger good video can I ask a Question my radiator pipe keeps falling off what can I do
Hi and thanks for the comment and for the question. So for the radiator pipe the first thing I would check is that its attached to the correct pins on the water pump and the radiator, as mine seams to be held on fairly tight and isn't really moving much at all, if they are correctly attached the next thing would be to just try a very small amount of superglue. Hope this helps and hope the build goes well. Thanks again for watching.
@@kevinstuartbuilds3792 Hi I have a problem with issue 29 build the Dodge charger it is the radiator it is not fitting properly can you help me please so you can fixs it for me
Hi kevin Did you receive my message about the Dodge charger let me no please
@@Kauye1 hi sorry didn’t get a notification about the first message but did for this one!! What is the problem with the radiator? I can have a look at mine later, I don’t think I had a problem with it fitting and I think it went on OK.
@@kevinstuartbuilds3792 Hi issue 29 build the Dodge charger if I sent it to your address so you can fixs it for me
Did you get that odd metallic fork replaced as they were taken from the japanese version. The uk versions ship with the non metallic mustard coloured fork although I prefer the metallic ones! Got mine coming soon!
Hi and thanks for the comment, yeah I got a replacement fork sent out after I called them about the difference in colour. TBH they just sent out another metallic one as it’s hole for the fork brace is on the wrong side so I just glued it. But yeah I now have two forks the same colour (the metallic.)
Left you a comment regarding the front hood on the ferrari f40 competizione, need some help and advice, mine doesn't close flush at all, thinking it's the head lights wiring, yes still building the effing thing, just need sort this one problem out and it's done.
Hi mate. I did have the same issue and it was down to the headlight cables. I didn’t wrap them round the arms as it shows as it prevented it from closing. So I think I just routed them round the sides. Hope you get it sorted. Cheers.
Long time no speak, this build is about to get smashed! Right everything is pretty much done, got all the parts unfortunately I had to pay a premium on ebay, but got a refund coming for the missing issues. Here's my problem and ive spent a day trying figure out how, right the bonnet which you've just worked on well I'd say just but anyway, mine won't fully close on the passenger side, is it down to the cables? I'm struggling and need help or its hammer time 😂
Thanks for the comment. Glad you are nearly there, sorry that you had to pay eBay prices though. I had to do the same with a couple of issues for the Spitfire ground crew, but if a pain but I got them all in the end. I have replied to the problem with the bonnet on the other video comments. But yeah I couldn’t get mine to close when I wrapped the cables round the arms as it shows in the magazine videos, so I just routed them round the sides. Hope you get it sorted. Cheers.
Where does the other end of the pipe fitted in pt 63 go to
Hi and thanks for the question and for watching. The other end of the pipe fitted in 63 goes onto the bumper detail part, you can see this fitted in my issue 65 video. Hope this helps.
@@kevinstuartbuilds3792 Hi there, the pipe I am talking about is still lose in your issue 67 assembly, there is nowhere for the pipe to fix to
@@hew109 hi, if it’s the random one coming from the underside of the engine? Then it might be the one that I had real trouble finding the fitting point for, I looked through all the magazine instructions and the video tutorials, but I couldn’t find it being attached in any of them. However when I looked over the engine bay there is a pin under the oil tank that I think it fits onto. I show this in my issue 69 video I think it’s about half way into the video. Once again hope this helps.
@@kevinstuartbuilds3792 Hi, no this one has a blue end with a pin on the end so should go into a hole somewhere. The one that is fitted to oil tank is supposed to be fitted later on but I fitted it earlier. Don't know where the pipe with pin goes to
@@hew109 hi sorry if it’s part number 4 from issue 63, on the list it’s called Wiring then the blue pipe end goes onto the detail part of the rear bumper, it is part number 3 from issue 62. But it’s fitted to that part in issue 65. You can send me a picture on messenger if that would be easier.
which issues do you show construction of the l/w doors?
Hi and thanks for the call question. Not 100% sure what you mean by I/w doors, but if it’s the car doors then they are constructed in issues 71 and 72. Thanks for watching.
Keep making these types of videos, very nice work! You need to research "promo sm"!!!
Thank you! Will do!
Had to also file a down the drivers door a tad . I removed it from the door pst on the body where the hinge crosses as it closes. didn't have to remove much at all boy 1.5 millimetres 2 tops door now spot on. Lets hope it stays that way when it comes to fit it for good.Lol Small tip should have mentioned long ago. in all metal screw holes and moving metal parts like hinges suspension I have put a small drop of of very light oil. I used singer sewing machine oil. its very light and does the trick screws go in easier. Apply it with a cocktail stick put a small amount in an old plastic bottle cap jobs a good un. lol
I think I had to do the same on the door, I think I also took some off the hinge itself but yeah now fits perfectly. I did the oil trick on the metal screws for the Ecto 1 as they were really tough to go in, but I found the oil left strains and smelled a bit, so maybe I was using too thick oil. I will have to try the oil you recommend as it does help with metal screws. Thanks a lot for the comment and for watching. It’s very much appreciated.
@@kevinstuartbuilds3792 I use the oil on my guns superb stuff works great on these models too. I do old west re enactments. Hence the guns lol
Is it the one from vanishing point?
Pit it’s not just seen it the vanishing point one is white the engine is under the hood.
Got to be honest, I have never seen the film. But when I googled it, I might have to watch it at some point. But yeah it’s a Dodge Challenger in vanishing point and a Dodge Charger in the fast and the furious. Just love the look and sound of American Muscle cars.
@@kevinstuartbuilds3792 well worth watching vanishing point.
Yes a right bar steward little bit of uhu glue to stick the wings in place and hold the middle bit a gentle push she said and positioning screws either end ready did the job a right fiddle some job now re assembling right hand rear light wich fell to bits during prior operation a spot or two of glue to help convince it to STAY BLOODY PUT did the other side but not this side as it seemed ok. Well I should have done both. The call at the time from down stairs for tea and biscuits was too appealing at the time. ah well live and learn.I shall install a dumb waiter from kitchen to loft. I can then send orders down for tea coffee biscuits etc as required. hmmmm wife has just said something not very nice about that idea. She'll come round. What! Says no she won't .
Yeah many many hours spent on this build, and yeah many many cups of tea as well. Well worth it all though as it’s a great model when finished. Good luck with the rest of the build.
yes a bit of a bar steward to say the least had similar problems. Turbo's not lining up all needed convincing that they were going to go where they were supposed to. Come close to screaming a few times on this . Am building it for a relative. Nearly given it back a few times I can tell you. But just walk away pray to who ever you consider to be your God and then hit it with large hammer. No I jest. Just try again. I actually undone the suspension at the tops and it gave me enough room to shall we say get it to play the game few profanities helped its compliance but there you go Job done. On to the next impossible bit.
Yeah the most frustrating build I have done. Lost count of the amount of times I needed to take a time out from the build, also lost count of the amount of times the whole car nearly became airborne, 😆😆😆. Strangely though one of the best completed builds I have done, the completed car looks fantastic, and I am more than happy that all the electronics worked as well. Good luck for the rest of the build, and many thanks for watching.
Hello Kevin just wondering if you could help me please would you know what issue the brass bit on top of the rudder was in many thanks Simon
Hi Simon. The parts for the aerials including the small brass securing fitting was supplied in issue 93 and fitted in issue 98. Hope this helps.
Who y gonna call? MIKE LANESTERS! Glad your going to finish it mate 👍
Don’t know if this will help anyone but, I did have the same issue with a tough screw. What I did was I got a cocktail stick and just put a little oil in the screw hole and it went in, no problems. I think it is a type V screw that we’re supposed to use as these are the screws supplied.
I wouldn't bother with anything from Hachette ever again. Several years ago, they launched their "Build the Red Baron's Fokker Triplane" for the public, there were even ads on the TV for it. So I bought their magazines, which included parts for the kit. After a few months, the publications just stopped, no explanation given, nothing. I had no choice but to bin these part-completed sub-assemblies. Go to hell, Hachette!
Sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience with Hachette, not had the problem of them not finishing the build with this model, but I have heard of others that have had it happen to them with other builds. The Ecto-1 that I am building had that problem, with only 7 issues left the company went bust, so having to wait now on other companies picking up the build.
So I’m guessing this is going to cost the best part of a grand to complete if there are 91 issues?
It’s a good question, as they now have to let you know how many issues and how much they will cost. So total cost for premium subscribers I have worked out at £1190 and the standard subscription at £1062. So not a cheap kit. In fact it is why I am still not 100% committed to doing this bike yet. The Dodge Charger I am also doing is also not cheap but not as expensive per issue as this bike, the Dodge is just over £1300 for the premium subscription but it is 110 issues. I will make a call on this build soon.
@@kevinstuartbuilds3792 Hi Kevin, thanks for the detailed reply. Yes not cheap indeed, it looks like it’s going to be an amazing model however. I shall subscribe to your channel and watch with interest.
Hi Kev, lovely car, just wondering where you got the glass case from, I can’t find a suitable one for it. Thanks.
Thanks for the comment, the base and acrylic cover came as part of the subscription offer. So it was sent out as part of build, I think I received it towards the end of the build.
@@kevinstuartbuilds3792 Thanks for the reply. I got the base from them and to be honest I haven’t finished the build as yet, do you get the acrylic cover at the end of the subscription? Thanks.
@@slomofs I did, I can’t remember exactly which shipment it came with, but it was definitely one of the last few. As you can see it’s not a one piece cover so you do have to put it together, but it’s pretty good and hopefully keeps the car looking great for the future. Hope you enjoy the rest of your build. Cheers for watching and for the nice comment. Yeah
@@kevinstuartbuilds3792 I gotta say your videos make so much more sense than the instructions, this car I’m sure will be a very nice car when complete, I means yours is lovely. The build ha been so frustrating what with having to keep parts locked away to be used 20 stages later. Then for me they ran out of stock on issue 44 which meant my subscription was on hold for six months until it came back in stock. Nice car, poor instructions and customer service.
What did you have to file down on the passenger door? mine the window part doesn't line up at all, and I'm still. waiting for issue 66 and 73, they sent me the display case...it was for small model airplanes 🙄
Yeah I had to file down the passenger side window frame a little bit to make it fit, then just touched up the frame with some black paint. I am still waiting for 74 as I could do with a new windscreen as there is some very small marks on the one fitted to the car. To be honest if I don’t get one the one fitted to the car would be OK. Hope you get everything you need soon mate.
Looking good,Where are you getting your issues from?I got an email from them last week. But it's either that or the Hachette Lancaster which I've just subscribed to. Phoned Hachette up and spoke to an advisor this is going ahead if there's enough interest. Are you considering the Lancaster?
Thanks for the comment and for watching. I am getting this build from Deagostini but it is also on the FanHome site. Unfortunately I don’t think I will be doing the Lancaster, not after the issues I have had with the Spitfire, but having said that I might get the first few issues if I see them in the newsagents. Loving this motorbike build though so will probably be doing this.
Considering what happened to your ECTO-1, it must be a bit of a leap of faith to commit yourself to a 110-issue project, where the rug can be pulled at any time? Though hopefully not!
Yeah I did think long and hard about committing to another build. But as you say hopefully this one will be OK and I will get a completed car at the end. FanHome is part of the De Agostini publishing group and they are a big publishing group. 🤞
Ah! So having said I wouldn't do another part work I did look at this one when it launched. I concluded that I WOULD have built this one silly if it was orange not black, didn't have a big dumb supercharger sticking out of the bonnet, and had a confederate flag on the roof. And 01 on the non opening doors too of course! If they'd done THAT instead I would have been all over it! Hope it goes well mate, I will be watching!
Thanks for the comment mate. Yeah I think that would have been a fantastic car to build, (especially if it came with a free poster of Daisy in her hot pants!!!) I always say I am never doing another one and then I always do!😆😆. This one looks good so far mate, but early days so plenty of time to get frustrated with it. Cheers.
Been a pleasure watching your vids on this Kevin, I'm still messing around with mine trying to finish my additions. Probably the only partwork I will do as I've found it stressful and frustrating. Great result but balance of detail is very inconsistent and some alarming things missing entirely. The best detail is completely hidden once the engine is installed and th rear end of the engine is dominated by some of the kits lowest quality parts - intercoolers, oil catch tank, and wastegate ducting. Still can't believe the build has no battery, washer bottle or rear anti roll bar connection. But hey ho, good build of amazing car. Yours looks great by the way! All the best
Many thanks for watching and commenting, I really do appreciate it so much. 🙏🙏🙏. I know what you mean about the best detail on the engine being hidden, a bit disappointed by that. I really like the cockpit but the electrics are also a bit disappointing as the engine noise is not that good at all, and you have to have it running to get the lights to work, so batteries out now and don’t think they will be going back in anytime soon! Over all though I really think it’s a good model and does look good. I said after my Delorean build that I would never do another, now moving onto the Fast and Furious car and maybe the Valentino Rossi motorbike. Take care and once again thanks for watching.
