Installing NEW Plumbing on our 1978 SAILBOAT | BOAT Life Ep. 10
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.2 года назад
In our ongoing sailboat renovation project, we tackled a crucial area that had been neglected for too long: the plumbing. We knew we needed to overhaul the entire system to ensure a safe and comfortable living space on board. This involved removing all the old plumbing and installing a bra...

Why we're NOT SAILING YET | Boat Life Ep. 08

In this episode, we explain that in order for us to finish our Islander Freeport, we still need to do some more repairs, plug leaks, and accept that not everything can go according to schedule. Kelsi also breaks her foot... delaying work even further. SV Blue Planet is a 1978 Islander Freeport in need of ALOT of work. To date, she was gutted (Ep. 4) had her tanks removed (Ep. 6), was tented for...

In June 2021 we bought a Blue Planet, a 1978 Islander Freeport 41 moored in Honolulu Hawaii! We knew the moment we stepped on board that this was the perfect boat to begin chasing our dream to sail away! But first, there's plenty of work to be done. Follow along while we renovate the interior to be just as magical as her exterior, with plans to launch in 2023 for epic sailing charters and elope...
Awesome work. You have an amazing boat and worth the refit and all the hard work.
I love your channel! Currently in the middle of planning a boat refit on a 25' Catalina here in NYC. Did the tile stay adhered to the fiberglass wall since installation? This looks like a heavier tile choice, and I was wondering how that adhesive did over time. Thanks!
@@megrobertson Thank you! The tile is holding just like new. That flexible grout is designed for high vibration applications such as RVs and boats. It's also fully waterproof and used in pools and spas!
Maybe you’ll a see this before the sea “trial”. You did a great job getting her ready. Kelsey, when I Saw the interior design that did, I was charmed! Less wood, and more contemporary esthetic. I hope to meet you two soon. Parker will be in touch after the Holiday.
On solar panels you really need about at least a thousand Watts of solar I got a motorhome that I got 2000 watts on because you do not get on a solar panel what the ad says you only get oh during the day about 4 hours are real solar
I will never get rid of my diesel battery power is not there yet it's not a real good way to go keep the diesel
So gorgeous all your choices! How have things held up and what would you change if anything? Also are the gold medal plates on the drawers for decoration or do they act as a pull handle? Thank you for sharing
I think the paint job looks great! We're thinking of doing the same on our Colvic Victor 41. What paint did you use for the interior?

Thanks so much for the sub! New videos have been on a hiatus so let us know if there's anything in particular you're interested in hearing more about!
Have watched all 13 of your videos 3 times now. Congrats on your remaking of this boat. Am looking to purchase a Freeport 41 this week, hope I can do as well as you both did with the restoration. Good luck with your charter business, with your dedication you will do well.
Thanks so much, that means the world! If you do end up with a Freeport please tag us- we would love to see what you do!
Look awesome, congratulations 🎉👏
Thanks so much!
Learning process is live time, even with sailing.
Looks great with the letters and I like the name. Did you put new windows on the boat?
Thanks! She came with her name and windows! Thankfully we've only had to replace a small through-hull in the hallway.
We like your project and your boat. Looks awesome your refit. I saw yesterday the first time this kind of boat and felt in love. Thanks for your videos.
I started to watch & went into shock. Painting teak not in it self a bad thing especially in the tropics like Hawaii. It's just standard practice to varnish it first several coats. Why? Because if at some point you or someone else mite want to bring it back. A heat gun and then some scraping it brings it back to wood. When painted without the varnish step it's really hard to get the paint out of the pours. Teak is a very naturally oily wood. Varnish and paint typically bubble after time in the heat. Teak is an incredible wood especially in the marine environment just turns gray and very easily can be brought back to it's glory. Anyway love your desire to cruise on a Freeport 41. Good luck!!! Cheers from Northern California!!!
Thanks for watching! We love how the boat looks all painted (and quite a bit of what we did paint wasn't teak). If someone was looking to buy a boat with a wood interior ours wouldn't be the right fit anyways. We'll do a full reveal soon and I think we'll convince you that we made the right call!
👏🏻🤩😉👊🏻
Tell your seasick partner, get the Scopalomine patches, put them behind your ear ahead of going offshore, and he'll be fine. Little Jesus lives in those patches and he'll protect you from mal d'mer!
If you have a Lowe's or Home Depot near they have pipe insulation (foam) that might fit those wooden posts that separate your dishes. Might make for an easy permanent solution to the dish rattle.
I fancy sailing around the world solo I have never done anything alone and the experience I have is tiny on boats I used to go around Oz alone and I am used to very long trips alone so I have some bow strings
If anything comes up a boat which needs work as I am broke please let me know I'm a great alloy and stainless steel welder I have skills to trade
I love this boat. Is the color palette too dark? Can there be CC subtitles? Whether there is a map to indicate the location and the route of the voyage, and to introduce the historical story of the voyage location. thanks
Good for you guys. I’m curious how people who do sailing adventure life make their money to do all this traveling
Thanks! I think most of them work remotely or rank in RUclips money from views (we wish lol). For us, we have a photography business and Patrick makes a tiny amount as a PhD student. Plus, our boat will be for commercial charters, so all the renovations and costs are a business expense!
