    Wind direction will be important for this set up. That should be pointed out. And when setting up in a wind, the upwind peg should probably be the first peg driven. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

    Another light source that you can easily craft in a post-SHTF world is a rushlight. Just take a length of rush and dip it into some animal fat. It will last virtually forever once you light it; and you can use a rushlight indoors, too. Medieval peasants made and used rushlights all the time. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rushlight

    How do you store the tarp? I see, you just pulled it out of the sack not being folded, just stuffed in. Is that the correct way or should the tarp be folded or rolled?

    • @thedanimalchannel1
      @thedanimalchannel1 3 месяца назад

      Great question how do you store your tarp? I store my tarp stuffed in the stuff sack because it will help make it last longer. With folding you fold down the same way which over time will create weaknesses along the fold.

    Wow this looks amazing, I'm thinking of doing this while motocamping. I can use my motorbike instead of a pole, or just find a stick in the bush. Just one question, do you peg the 2 corners and then ⅓ in from one end? Seems right, but I thought I'd jusy check. I'm sure I'll have a play around with this in my backyard first anyway

    All these tarp videos are so ridiculous. I have/had an MSR Reflex 1 that offers far more protection, with less weight and less space than this thing. I'd rather a y pole configuration but compared to a plain tarp, still better.

    That's not a tautline, which is a good thing. It is an adjustable grip hitch, which is actually better. The cow hitch is not very reliable and may slip depending on how hard-laid or soft-laid the various materials are. The pole size is about half the width of the tarp, so 1.5 meters or 4'11" in this case. Excellent setup for open/warm or closed down for bad weather.
