Bachata from Instagram - My learning Process
In Box step(quadrado) how do you lead the follow to go to different directions? By frame, left hand or right hand? Is there a signal to sow the follow in which direction she needs to move? If no, how she can move without a delay?
It depends on the frame you are talking about. If we concentrate on the semi-open/social frame, the connection from the leaders perspective is made primarily on the right elbow and its extension by the palm at the ladies left shoulder. Primarily this is where the leading happens. If you want to show the lady to not continue doing the typical basic on the 2 count you can also rotate your upper body diagonally to the right. Let’s say your 2 o clock. So you are indirectly “blocking” the follower to move more to her right. Breathing plays also a role, but this is something you start controlling and registering at a later level. Nevertheless, on 2 you can also breath up more intensely. The follower should feel a change in the leading if the frame is right. There will always be a slight delay. A secret among the pros is that they cheat a bit by dancing slightly “faster” than the actual counts :) I already made an explicit video about the basic steps where I talk more about the quadrado and one about the frame.
@@georgiossalon I washed that video but you didn't mention anything about leading
Hi georgios , in the closed position, either front or shadow, shouldn't the bodies touch at hip/waist level?
In the shadow position, you have the open and the semi-open frame. I think the semi-open is the one you mean, where you have 6 points of contact, when the follower is in the front. One of the contact points is at the hip/waist. I will record an extra video about it since it is more of a complex topic :)
transfering weight is really difficult at the beginning but it's really important. Maybe you could make another video to discuss more details how to do it naturally while mentioning common mistakes.
I understand your frustration. I will do this 🤝
could you elebortate more on transfering weight? before 1 and after 8 how do you shift your weght smoothly on the right while it looks natural and smooth withought being like a sudden or awkward move? also on 3 and 5, it seems first you transfer the woght completely and get back to neutral on tap. is it coorect? When we are walking, we naturally shift our weight. Where is the difference with dancing when it comes to transfering weights?
Absolutely, weight transfer is a key aspect of bachata basics. To keep it short, yes walking and dancing the basic share similar biomechanics. Our goal is to make our dancing as smooth as possible. Ball to Heel change, control and pushing to the ground is what makes a lot. Exercise (very slowly): - Stay on the same spot and try to shift (<- to ->) your hip from one leg to the other (boat movement). - Start steping on the spot from one leg to the other with ball to heel change. The better you can control the transition the smoother it will get. Your brain needs to do these movements thousands of times so they get written in your nervous system. Then you wont need to think about it. Boom now you can dance smoooothly.
Hey man, can you tell me which were the Top Festivals for you regarding especially the level in social dancing?
Poland and Spain have currently the best festivals. I don’t think you will do anything wrong with going to any of them. If you want more of a vacation experience, try Kos in Greece (Bachata King).
@@georgiossalon I know Bachaturo so many advanced dancers there! BK is also on my list. After your video about BSWC I will also think about it attending it. What do you think about Geneva? And do you have further 2-3 specific recommendations especially in or near to Germany?
@JokerMV12 Oh wow. I almost forgot Geneva 🤭 This festival is one of the best. If there were 3 festivals for the upcoming year that you should definitely attend, then it would be Geneva, Bachaturo and Kos. The BCN Sensual got moved somewhere near Sevilla. No idea why… I can recommend the Munich Bachata fest in January. The organiser is great 😎 Otherwise have a look at the festivals in Cologne.
@@georgiossalon Haha I knew it. Can you tell me what makes Geneva and Bachata King special? Thank you btw for your answers they are really helpful
@JokerMV12 Geneva has one of the most prestigious Jack & Jill competitions. Meaning top social dancers will be there. Kos has a vacation feeling with great dancing. It goes throughout the week. A lot of professional dancers go there and stay for a while at the socials. Sure, any time 👍
Very helpful for learning the basics. Thank you!
My pleasure! What would you like to learn next?
Great stuff
Thank you 🙌

Es sieht so cool aus man denkt es ist greenscreen ❤
Ist mir auch aufgefallen 😂
Just out of curiosity, when did you start dancing Bachata Sensual?
Uff good question. I started dancing bachata about 5 years ago via RUclips. Since 1,5 years I got introduced to the concept of Sensual Bachata by Aitor Barredo. Last year I visited the Korke and Judith school (BS Dance Center) and took multiple hours of class there. What about you?
@@georgiossalon I see. So you are pretty much a self-taught dancer up to the point where you went to BS Dance Center (when one neglects workshops and private classes)? About one year. Btw. I really did enjoy your other clips about the dance scene in Barcelona and the review on the Jack and Jill competition - kudos for the great work!
Thank you for the kind feedback. Self taught, kinda yeah :) But I did take online privates from Aitor previously to going to the BS Dance Center which helped me a lot to understand the concepts. Of course joining to local regular hip hop classes helped a lot too.
@@georgiossalon Sure :). I (a guy who has two left feet) am always fascinated by how good some people can get by only attending socials, a few workshops and RUclips or online training. I also thought about getting into hip hop to spice things up, but I think I will focus on traditional Bachata footwork for now (to incorporate that into my style).
@rolphD hahaaa. There are a lot of variables playing into your development. I think the most important part is consistency and feedback. Try to dance every day for a month two songs and record yourself. Then, review the video of the two songs. This will do magic for you :) I myself love hip hop, so getting into understanding the fundamentas and applying them to my bachata was great. I think you found your own path and this is great! Looking forward to your updates :)

hip hop 😮
yes, parts of it :)
I am pretty sure that this foundation step is not called "reverse triangle" but what are you going to do about it? I'll correct the title once I find its real name.
Very good video. Amazing Light and everything 🤩
