I've been a car enthusiast for most of my life, but in my choice of car, common sense has always prevailed. I've run big engined saloons / estate diesels but they've always been a family car compromise.

As a big fan of British sportscars I toyed with the idea of a Lotus Exige S3 and came close to buying an LF1 special edition. Common sense prevailed once more and the idea of folding my ample 6'2" frame into the car as I got older put me off. A long term adoration for Morgan had me looking at Plus 8's and Aero 8's, but again it wasn't to be.
As age marched on, I turned 50 and a few close friends had health-scares, or worse. I decided to do something, and after much procrastination I started looking at building a Cobra. I wanted to say "I did that."

I looked at various marques, but Gardner Douglas impressed the most. So here we are, building a GD mk4 427.
