I like listening to you guys as a podcast for everything. I listen to you talking good or bad about any book, washing the dishes, drawing, etc.
Glad to hear it! I love a good podcast while Im going about my day
First video I'm watching of you guys and you just got yourselves a new fan! Keep up the reading updates.
Thanks, glad to have you with us!
I'm looking forward to the 2024 book ranking. That would be fun! I'm also really looking forward to reading all the Christmas books. I have a few christmas mysteries on my list, but i'm also looking forward to reading ACOFAS, The Christmas Tree Farm by Laurie Gilmore and Holiday Romance by Catherine Walsh.
Lots of holiday books! We love it!
I'm looking forward to seeing the 2024 book ranking, it's going to be really interesting lol
yea it should be fun to see how the books from this year all shake out!
also, where can i suggest a book for lizz??? to not spoil de potential surprise?
@@xLaz21 you can leave it here! I’ll tell her to stay out of the comments of this video
@bookwormcouple the inmortal rules by julie kagawa, its a vampire/zombie dystopia with a kickass female MC with a good romance in it, great plot, great characters, very underrated, since she loves sarah j maas she will love this book (its a trilogy tho)
@ awesome recommendation! I love that concept
good to see you guys again! Roby what are your plans for Wind and Truth? its 530k words long btw love your content guys! cant wait to see the WaT review!
@@xLaz21 530k? God im gonna be reading that for a while. I’m hoping to start when it drops tomorrow, hopefully I can finish it in a week or 2 and maybe I’ll be able to get a video up before the end of the month!
Books to read in December: Daisy Jones and the Six I really hope that one day at least Lizzy reads it because she will love it.
@@lucasoliver2571 it’s on the TBR, I’m sure we will get to it!
I was thinking that The Kane Chronicles would be in December but that's okay. If you're planning to start reading it only in January/February then I'll patiently wait. All the books you mentioned are great recommendations for me lol
As mainly a sci-fi/fantasy reader and not a typical romance reader. I can definitely recommend the Emily Henry books. She has become an auto buy author for me and I look forward to her release every year.
love to hear it! Looking forward to the next one
Best book of the series imo. I deeply love Kingdoms of Death but this has just got to top it. Chapter 40 is maybe the best thing I’ve ever read in sci fi.
Chapter 40 is insane, I couldn't believe what I was reading, one of the coolest things I've read in a very long time. It's hard to pick a favorite when so many books in the series are so high quality, a very good problem to have
2025 will be interesting ❤
I love Pillars of the Earth. I hope you like it too. If you want more historical fiction recs, i also recommend Dreaming the Eagle by Manda Scott. I've only read the first book so far, so i can't vouch for the rest of the series, but i think you could like it. Once Upon a Broken Heart! Such a fun series.
@@thefairylibrarian3282 awesome, thanks for the suggestion!
Would love reading vlogs! those are my favorite to watch.
@@ashleywright8713 good to know! We will try and do some in the future
I'm really looking forward to you reading The Kane Chronicles and The Poppy War.
@@lucasoliver2571 thanks, we can’t wait!
A classic, I love it so much!
Wow, the beginning of it all! How intriguing
This is going to be fun to follow
This is a gigantic book! I don't even know if I would have the patience to read a book like that lol I prefer my books medium sized even though they are quick to read depending on the book, great video as always
@@lucasoliver2571 thanks! Yea it took a bit longer than I expected, but was still a fun ride!
I agree on a lot of things. Especially the pacing at the end was really rough for me. I struggle with connecting emotionally if books get very fast-paced, so the emotional moments just really didn't hit for me. It felt chaotic, but not in the good "this is an accurate reflection of what war is like" type of way, but just messy. My ranking so far is ACOMAF > ACOWAR > ACOTAR. I feel the complete opposite way about Nesta and Elain. I really like Nesta, but i don't like Elain (i think that could be a very unpopular opinion). And i don't have a good reason for it. Just every time Elain is mentioned, my brain goes ugh
I think with the benefit of a little hindsight now my ranking of the books is the same as yours. Glad to hear you like Nesta though, you will probably love the next book which is great!
I read ACOMAF in October which was great. I loved it. I'm currently reading ACOWAR and i'm having the best time. I also read The Blood Stones by Tori Tecken. I think Robbie might really enjoy it
Sounds like a fun reading month! And I've heard of The Blood Stones, glad to hear you're enjoying it. On to the TBR it goes.
I'm looking forward to this month, I heard you guys want to read The Poppy War and I'll love it if that's the case.
@@MariaOzienedeOliveiraOliveira yes! I (Robby) will probably have it be the next series I read once I finish the Powder Mage trilogy
not surprised, tho very happy to see u again! <3
@@xLaz21 happy to be back!
I'm rereading The Diary of Anne Frank, it's going to be quite a journey. As much as I love the Riordanverse videos, I'm not upset about this month-long break, I can wait until you guys start The Kane Chronicles ^^ If you have no idea what to read this month, you could check out the book "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" and then we could get Robby's reaction to the book since Liz has already read it.
@@lucasoliver2571 o wow I haven’t read the Diary of Anne Frank since I was a kid. A powerful story
What a fun video, you can see how passionate you guys are about Percy Jackson
❤❤❤❤
What a great video as always, I can't wait to see what books are next for the channel
Coming soon!
I really don't understand books like this gaining fame when there are better books out there that deserve the fame of this book.
I agree, this book had some serious flaws. I hope the author manages to turn it back around in the next one, or if not that something new comes along of higher quality that people can latch on to.
Commenting here to help the algorithm
Great video ❤❤ I never miss a video
Thank you!
This is one of my favourite books. But mostly the Rand scenes. Or Rand and Min. Or Rand and Cadsuane. I would never include this book as part of the slog. A tip to those fans who read and reread the story and still complain about the slog: There is no rule or law in reading that says you have to read the parts that don’t interest you! ESPECIALLY on a reread! The slog disappeared for me the minute I finished the series, because now I only read the pages I want to. So now, none of the books are bad. Just shorter. 😉
I really like this take, definitely started skimming parts while reading WoT myself.
If you want, there are short stories that crossover between The Kane Chronicles and Percy Jackson that you can read after finishing TKC.
O cool! I didn't know those existed, thanks for the heads up.
What a long journey, and we're not even halfway through lol Next up in the timeline is The Kane Chronicles, just to be clear (this new trilogy that's currently being released is set before The Trials of Apollo, so don't worry about spoilers). PJO > HoO > TKC > MC > The new trilogy > ToA > The Sun and the Star
I know, it's wild how many of these there are. I think we may take a little break from the Riordan verse for a minute, but I know we'll be back to continue on. It's too good to pass up
I loved this book so much! Part 1 is just so heartbreaking with Tamlin and everything. And then part two with the cozyness and the found family and Velaris 🥰🥰. And then the end got intense. It just worked for me and it was exactly what my brain needed right now and i love it
Yea, a HUGE step up from the last book IMO. Really enjoyed this one.
I love you guys’s vibes and this video idea is so good !! Happy to have discovered you as creators !!
So glad you found us! Welcome!
Saying she really likes a character that most people probably don’t like: names the character many many many many manymanymany people rate as the best character of the entire series. 😂
Holy #&@$! Found your reactions this morning, interesting to hear your perspective, but I actually had a “WTF?!!” Stopped my work cleaning, had to go over to my phone to comment when you said Rand and Nynaeve are “pompous brats”. Are. You. Serious?!!! Rand is the furthest thing you can get from pompous at this point in the story!! Which is why I DON’T find his relationship with Aviendha fun or balanced. She is mean. He tries to be kind to her, tried to understand her and she constantly cuts him down and calls him ignorant. Which is the big issue with most the women around him. Rand is so filled with self-doubt, scrambling to APPEAR as a tough, knowledgeable leader, but his inner thoughts tell us he is pretending as hard as he can. Elayne, Aviendha, and especially Egwene keep trying to take him down a peg, when he’s already at the bottom of the pegboard. And even if he was self-assured, he IS the Dragon Reborn, a ruler of the nations (nations he tries hard to help), and a powerful channeler. The way they treat him is beyond disrespectful. I love these books, and am impressed with character like Nynaeve, Min, Birgitte. Well written female characters written by a man are rare. Too often men, (and women) write women like Elayne, Aviendha, and Egwene.
Right after watching this video, i ran to the attic to grab one of my childhood favorites and i just reread it. It's a series called Martine. It's a Belgian children's book series about this little girl who has very ordinary, slice of life little adventures and i loved them. My two favorites were the one where she is invited to a dress-up party and has to find a costume (that's the one i just reread) and the one where she goes to ballet class. That second one is the whole reason i did ballet as a child. I loved them so much and rereading one of them was just wonderful
That sounds beautiful! I always love hearing about the books people loved when they were younger
This was so beautiful and it made me want to reread all of my favorites. Happy anniversary!!!!!!!
@@thefairylibrarian3282 ❤️
This was nice! I’m a rare fantasy-loving millennial who never read Harry Potter, but I’m watching the movies now and realizing how great it is.
@@tayking1256 o my god you’re a unicorn, truly the rarest of fantasy fans
It wasn't a book but an author who encouraged me to read more was Jane Austen, she helped me get into reading and she shaped my taste for books.
@@MariaOzienedeOliveiraOliveira you have very good taste, Liz loves Jane Austen
That was really beautiful!
@@cozydayzandnightz thanks!
The book that encouraged me to read more was Coraline, I already loved the film and when I discovered the existence of the book I had to have it right away. Today we are in a strange situation where the author of Coraline is surrounded by controversy and we don't know the truth of everything, but I am grateful that one of his books pushed me into the world of books. Honorable mention: Percy Jackson, that's my "Harry Potter" 😂😂
@@lucasoliver2571 absolutely, you can still be grateful for the work. I feel like there is a whole generation of readers who would say Percy Jackson is their Harry Potter and I love that
Happy birthday to your channel ❤
Thank you!
Happy anniversary! 🎉
Thank you!
I really need to continue with Heroes of Olympus. I was doing a reread of Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus so i could read Trials of Apollo, but i fell off and i really need to get back to it. I'm currently reading ACOMAF. I'm really enjoying it, but the subject matter is intense
@@thefairylibrarian3282 yea ACOMAF is very intense a ton happens. Interested to see your thoughts!
There is a trilogy that I would like to recommend, but these books are quite heavy. The first book is called "The Poppy War" by R. F. Kuang and it takes a lot of courage to face the heavy themes in it.
@@lucasoliver2571 the Poppy War is pretty high on my (Robby) TBR. I think I will probably start it sometime in the next few months
It's Halloween month! I hope this month is more productive than September. I'm looking forward to the next books.
@@lucasoliver2571 Happy Halloween month!
❤❤🎉🎉
Great video, you guys are really hard working
I loved this book! But I am also annoyed with Nesta and don’t care about her much. I care more about Elaine
Yes!
Completely agree, her being mean to Elaine is where I draw the line
