Oh my goodness❤❤❤ I'm sleep-deprived too but I'm now sew ridiculously excited😁😁😁 Thank you Sam and Jassie😍🌟💓
Hey Sam! 🎉
i’m doing the directional exterior bottom and did i hear correctly that the seam allowance is 1-inch when topstitching the base (at ~7:26 mark)? i want to make sure before i start stitching.
That should be 1/8" Seam allowance for Top stitching ❤️ Thank you for picking that up! Sorry it took so long to respond, youtube didn't notify me of a new comment 🙈
@@SamanthaErillantThank you for confirming that it should be 1/8” instead of 1”.
I can hear you but not see you
Sorry susi 🙈🙈 We fixed it now ❤️
Super hilarious 😅😂😱
🤣🤣🤣 genuinely was so confused when you said you couldn't see you 🙈🤣🤣
What a great video! I cannot stress enough how refreshing it was to see you sewing on a vintage machine 🤩 what model do you have? Does it handle thick layers well? I’ve been really bouncing back and forth between a vintage machine or taking forever to save for a new age semi industrial
Thank you so much ❤️🙏 Mine is a Singer 201K, she's a 1953 model, I also have a newer 201P (I couldn't find the age, but most of the ones made in Australia were newer). I originally got this machine to tie me over until I can afford an industrial, and now I'm hooked and don't think I'd bother with an industrial anymore 🙈🤣 That being said, I don't sew leather and I don't mind not being able to go super fast like industrials can. The 201 is an absolute beast! I've thrown layers and layers at her, fully expecting her to not be able to do it, but everytime she manages to pull through unharmed. Just yesterday I made her sew through 3 layers of Vinyl and 5 layers of lining fabrics, she didn't miss a beat, so I made her top stitch it (so because of the top stitching on the seam allowance, thay would double the thickness, so that's 6 layers of Vinyl and 10 layers of lining fabric), I fully expected her to not sew through it, but she managed (wasn't happy and I had to coax her by hand cranking a little), but the stitches were gorgeous and perfect as always ❤️🙏 I know some people have even been able to sew leather on it, but I've not been game enough to try yet ❤️ Sorry that was an essay 🤣 I just love my old girl ❤️
@@SamanthaErillant oh wow that’s amazing! That makes me even more eager to get my hands on a vintage beauty! I don’t sew with real leather, the heaviest I go is vinyl and WPC. I’ve had a domestic brother that I bought 4 years ago has been doing its best but it struggles on some of my projects. It just doesn’t have quite enough power. Also I can’t adjust the presser foot pressure and that drives me NUTS 😂
@@SamanthaErillant came back to update, I’m now the proud owner of a 15-91 🩷 love her!
@jessm2413 yayyyyyyy congratulations ❤️🎉🎉 You won't regret it! These vintage machines are amazing!! I've been eyeing off an industrial vintage Singer with a Cylinder arm but I just haven't made the jump yet 🙈🤣
That’s hilarious 🤣
Thanks for watching and laughing along with us ❤️🤣🤣
Absolutely fantastic! I always enjoy watching your tutorials!
Thank you ❤️🙏 and thank you for another amazing pattern ❤️🎉
Vibrant vu…? I have never heard of that, or the twill. I thought twill was like a soft loose fabric..like a twill jacket, pants or hat..I’m guessing I would be wrong lol
VibrantVue and Sewfisticated Twill is a specialty fabric that Sewfisticated Supplies stock. It's so different than what I would consider normal Twill too! Sewfisticated Supplies is based in Singapore, but they ship worldwide and have a deal with UPS for discounted shipping too ❤️ Here's the link if you'd like to have a look: sewfisticatedsupplies.com/products/sewfisticated-twill?ref=SamH
I watched this live last night. I love it! Will you be doing this regularly? Las Vegas, Nevada here!
Awww Thank you so much! I'm definitely going to try and do them more regularly ❤️ I get Fridays home alone without the kids (so Thursday night in the US), and would definitely be able to make it a regular thing ❤️
Great!
I use a vintage Singer 15-91, it blows my mind how thick of material it can sew. Are you sewing on a 99k?.
Mine is a 201K, I absolutely love it! Would love to get my hands on a 15-91!!! They are gorgeous machines ❤️😍
It love to sit and sew with someone, even with you-tube. It's like being at a sewing Bee.. Thank you ❤.. Oh Indiana - USA here
Awww Thank you ❤️🙏 It does make sewing so much more fun ❤️
Thanks from Montreal for the free pattern and excellent tutorial! Going to start making some Christmas bags !
Thank you for watching my video and I'm so glad you liked it ❤️❤️
Great job Sam. Big 👍🏼🤩💚
Thank you so much ❤️🙏🙏
I absolutely love and appreciate your tutorials! I would love to see one from you of the Posh bag and Sassy bag since your videos are so good 😍
Thank you so much ❤️🙏🙏 I'll add that to the list ❤️🎉 The Sassy was actually the first bag I ever tested, so doing a tutorial for it would be pretty amazing ❤️🙏
43:03 where do we get the templates?
There's currently 2 approved vendors for Sewfisticated Craft Designs patterns :) They both do ship worldwide as well, but depending on where you are, Brymaxx is in Australia (www.brymaxxprecision.com.au/sewfisticated-craft-designs/p/travelniser-sewfisticated-craft-designs-acrylic-templates?ref=SamH) And for the US, there's ARC Expressions (www.etsy.com/au/listing/1727992099/sewfisticated-travelnizer-acrylic?click_key=b0130089bdcfde752b6e0f3ae6e444a0cbbc327f%3A1727992099&click_sum=c2b94a3c&ga_search_query=Travelnizer&ref=shop_items_search_1&pro=1&sts=1)
7:26 I love that idea of a hook!
The hook is such a game changer!!! It's honestly worth the effort to find them because it can pretty much hang on anything 🎉🙏
You're on fire, girl! I absolutely love watching your videos! Your energy is seriously contagious!❤ Keep it up!
Thank you so much!!
Hi Sam, I'm unable to find the recommended width of the fold over elastic for the binding for the Pandora Allure? I feel it maybe 3/4"? Thanks
It is! Sorry I do normally say it (or at least think it 🙈🤣). So this is 3/4" width which is perfect for the materials I used with the Pandora Allure and this seam allowance ❤️
You nailed it, Sam😁😁😁 Brilliant video and couldn't agree more on so many points! Always a joy to watch you❤ I shall be sharing this video with my friends🙏 And getting them to subscribe😘
Awwwww thank you ❤️🙏 and thank you for always being so supportive ❤️❤️🙏
I love how you talk about exclusively Australia and how certain supplies are so EXPENSIVE and hard to find. Makes my life easier knowing what to use 😊
Thank you so much for watching and so glad this will help a bit ❤️❤️🙏
I have had a problem choosing stabilizers myself! Good info!
Thank you!!! I have to admit, I tend to overstabilise because I know I love structure 🙈🤣
Very helpful and informative! Wish I had known this when I started too! :)
Thank you!!! I know right!! Sooo much money wasted trying so many different things 🙈🤣
I do love that you make the bag on a vintage machine! Myself, I have a Singer 201 treadle for bag making. Absolutely love it!
Thank you ❤️❤️ I looove my vintage! It's such a workhorse! Mine is a 1953 201K, my backup is a 201P ❤️ I've been searching for a treadle machine for ages! Mine is a knee operated machine which has hard to learn at first, but now that I'm used to it, I can't even imagine using a foot pedal again🙈
This is done beautifully. Thank you for keeping this so real. I thought I’m the only person that would get skip stitches, wiggly seams and etc etc. Your color selections are pro too.
Thank you so much ❤️🙏 skip stitches get me every time 🤣 I KNOW I need to use my hump jumper, but I always chance it and hate myself for it later 🙈🤣
trying to get into sewfisticated webpage from your links and it says "opening soon" which is confusing because I think I have seen you doing an unboxing from them??
I love your techniques and how you demonstrate them. ❤
Thank you so much!
Great tutorial ;-) thank you. I bought the pattern and am exited to try it to. Question: How do you call that supply that you use instead of the lighter? Thank you for your answer. Have a nice day.
Thank you ❤️🙏 It's a Dual arc electric lighter ❤️ I got mine from Amazon in Australia, I know Amazon US has them too if that helps ❤️❤️
Thanks for the excellent tutorial! I'm looking forward to your next video too!
Thank you so much ❤️🙏
Oh that Ice cream one is so cute!!
Thank you ❤️❤️ I'm obsessed with the I've cream one!! I was worried I was going too overboard with it when choosing fabrics, but I think it worked out perfect ❤️🙏
Thank you for the clarification in sizing! I'm glad your tutorial was available because I was having such a hard time deciding.
My pleasure and thank you for watching ❤️🙏 truth be told I'm one of those people who get confused by measurements so I need to see a finished bag to understand the size ❤️🤣
Another Great Video Sam 🤩👍
Thank you so much Bea ❤️❤️🙏
You look awesome and thank you for such an entertaining sew along! 😍
Thank you for letting me do the tutorial ❤️🙏 it was so much fun ❤️
Thank you for being so real and sharing this! 🥰
Always ❤️🤣
New to your channel, so excited I found you, such a breath of fresh air love your style ❤
Thank you so much ❤️🎉 so glad to have you here ❤️❤️
LOL at losing the words and simply gesturing. Can 100% relate.
🤣🤣🤣 hands words, same thing 🤣🤣
I always laugh looking back but while filming you think aaaargh English. Where are you? 😂
🤣🤣 always right 🙈🤣🤣 I've learnt to pause, breathe and say the line again without pausing the video now, editing time is more effort, but it doesn't disrupt the flow as much ❤️
Sorry I lost it at “and we’re topstitching…. Or not”
🤣🤣🤣 that clip was a pure insight into my at my sewing table 🤣🤣
Another great tutorial! I bought the pattern last night and am excited to try it! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much ❤️🙏
Where in the world did you get that Dr. Who fabric/vinyl? That is AMAZING and it totally fits this big with all the room inside!
Thank you so much ❤️ Isn't the Dr Who vinyl glorious 😍❤️ I got it from Fizgig and Fezziks in Australia (they're only available through Facebook at the moment, so go check out their Facebook page and Facebook group too), but they've also just announced that their next preorder round is going to have more of the Doctor ❤️🎉 I'm soo excited 🤣🤣
Fell inlove with the Travelnizer, made two so far and already thinking about my third! 😂 This one is really beautiful, love how its made! 😍 My next make for sure and I'm definitely gonna follow your tutorial on this bag to! 😍😄👍
Awwww thank you ❤️🙏🙏 I love the travelnizer! It's my most used travel bag (and my best seller during cruise season ❤️).
I've bet! 👍 It's a amazing bag for sure! So happy I found your youtube channel, very well made and informative videos, really! 🥰👏 @@SamanthaErillant
Your explanation was very helpful and your video actually showed what you were doing. How you held the fold over elastic and the way you told how the elastic kind of went right into place was encouraging. Thank you! I’ve been looking for this type of video.
Thank you so much for taking the time and leaving a comment ❤️❤️🙏 happy sewing and I hope foldover elastic works for you too! It's honestly the best thing I've done for my binding game ❤️
I finished my bag and it looks terrific. I am having a problem deciding how long to make the adjustable strap. Jassie's cutting instructions say 31 inches but on the instructional page 27 she says 45"-60". I am giving this bag away and the person is a normal sized individual. What do you suggest?
Omg I'm so sorry! I didn't get any notifications for comments 🙈 I think it would depend on how they intend to wear it as the end user, I like to wear mine across my front or back across my chest, so I tend to make my straps 60" adjustable. For me, that's too long if I were to wear it as a bum bag though, so if you're not sure how they would choose to wear it, 50" might be a safer bet ❤️
Thank you sew much!
I have been messaging Jassie on her website but she's not replying. Is she on holiday?
Sorry my notifications haven't been coming through 🙈 Jassie had a few days off last week, but should still be responding to messages, let me send her a message in case she didn't see the messages ❤️
Thank you!
I am left handed as well and I have a preferred side to stitch on. When I HAVE to stitch in another way, I have a slightly difficult time doing it. Can't understand why but I'm glad to know there are others out there like me!
This is the first time I'm seeing your tutorial and it is amazing! I wanted to find out which fabric is the twill (yellow?) and which is the reddish orange fabric (Vibrant Vue?). I will subscribe!
Sew much love and this is really a huge order! Thank you! 🎉❤
Thank you for all the beautiful products you have!
Thank you for sharing!!
Thanks for watching!
What do you use the twill fabric for the liner?
Yep :) I use Twill for lining and for cardslots ❤️ I love it because it's waterproof but also not thick and wipe cleanable. It's especially good for bags that can get bulky because it's a little more forgiving then waterproof canvas ❤️ you also don't need to interface it either which I love ❤️
@@SamanthaErillant thank you! I want to get some, but I went to the website and they’re all out of the colors that I would want. Hopefully they get some back in stock soon. I would really like to try it.
Using a smaller rotary cutter to cut around corners is much easier than using the 45mm.
Thank you! I've JUST received a 28mm one and it really is sooo much easier!!!
