Hymn of The Week: Learning To Lean
Просмотров 56Месяц назад
My childhood Pastor used to sing this chorus pretty regular. Some of you musicians may play it different (correct)- I didn’t spend to much tome trying to nail it. I prefer the steel guitar on The Kingsmen recording, but I prefer the vocals on Blackwood Brothers recording. I’m not a Southern Gospel historian so if the is a cleaner Kingsmen version out there someone let me know. Do y’all used to ...

Guitar Triads Made Simple

Triads are useful because you are only one note away from a different triad. This helps you be able to play songs without a lot of motion. It will help if you understand intervals and know the notes on the fretboard.

    It was a balmy night in August 1879, when returning from a debate in Spring Hill, Ohio, to my home in Morenci, Michigan, about 1:00 a.m. I saw a beautiful rainbow north by northwest against a dense black nimbus cloud. The sky was all perfectly clear except this dark cloud which covered about forty degrees of the horizon and extended about halfway to the zenith. The phenomenon was entirely new to me and my nerves refreshed by the balmy air and the lovely sight. Old Morpheus was playing his sweetest lullaby. Another mile of travel, a few moments of time, a fellow of my size was ensconced in sweet home and wrapped in sweet sleep. A first class know-nothing till rosy-sweet morning was wide over the fields. To awake and look abroad and remember the night was to be filled with sweet melody. A while at the organ brought forth a piece of music now known as "The Unclouded Day." A Day and a half was bestowed on the four stanzas. - A Rainbow at Midnight and A Song With Morning (1896)

    I always wished I had black keys on my fretboard. So I did the next best thing. I took small postits and placed them on my piano, and now I have strings on my piano. You should move the bench to the upper part of the piano so your left hand can practice fretting, but it's a great way to realize your inversions. Another thing about inversions, they are cadences. I wished I had tried memorizing cadences before inversions. Very helpful for Baroque music.

    • @drwdnk7447
      @drwdnk7447 5 месяцев назад

      @matrox look online for the circle of 5ths diagram. The notes he is referring to go counterclockwise around the circle. By going counterclockwise, you are moving around the circle in fourths. The Guitar is tuned in fourth intervals and those are the notes vertically on the fretboard. This is good for memorization because the notes are always in the same order. It just depends on which note you’re starting on within that circle.

    • @ZaneDWells
      @ZaneDWells 5 месяцев назад

      Essentially, you are making a diagram of the fretboard by writing the notes at each fret using the circle of fifths.

    Hey brother zane wells, could you make some tutorials on how to play all the chords in a key and the best inversions to play? I’ve been trying to learn all the major and minor chords by learning the 1-5-6-4 in one key and then going around the circle of 5ths but i cant find tutorials for all 12 keys. So far i’ve got the 1-5-6-4 in C major, A major, G major, and D major.

    pythagorean sounds great with jazz chords, but the problem historically was the adherence to 12 noes, which was only the case on keyboards, fretless instruments always had more than 12 notes per octave with Fb and E, Cb and B, D# and Eb, Bbb and A, etc. A keyboard in Pythagorean tuning with 53 notes per octave, 52 perfect fifths does make the circle of fifths nearly close with less than 4 cents deviation at the two ends from a 3:2 perfect fifth. such a layout already exists in the Wicki Hayden layout. But considering we are in the last days no one cares. 1 Corinthians 15 :1-8 KJV Romans 10:2-13 KJV

    I believe Bach originally used well temperament. It's a crime that there's no 7th harmonic in our tuning (minor 7th minus 30 cents). Check out Freenote Records or Hansford Rowe (Steel Blue, No Other) on Band Camp.
