    In my opinion the problem is that our system has relegated billions to eating only the cheapest they can find and the cheapest way to produce food is with synthetic chemicals... Two problems and the solution isn't hey we can use shitty chemicals better than the next guy because most people don't care like you do. That being said good for you guys....

    Not having the budget for sap testing, I took a more shotgun approach to foilars for pest/disease, Mg, S, Mo, & B, to address limiting factors in protein synthesis, with Humic/fulvic for chelation along with kelp for hormones and chitosan to help trigger immune respose, seems to be working for my winter covers, not had a full season to judge effectiveness yet though.

    In morocco , FertiDol can be quite effective in managing hydric stress in plants. Its composition, which includes Calcium and Magnesium, helps improve soil structure and water retention, making it easier for plants to access water during dry periods. This can be particularly beneficial for crops that are sensitive to water stress. "FertiDol" moroccan fertilizer.

  • @chuckschembre
    @chuckschembre 27 дней назад

    This was a highly inaccurate description. It's in fact quite the opposite and one if the most important systems for soil health is to promote as much continually decomposition to build more salrophytic fungi during seed germination. Non till seeding or transplanting into residues is an example. If decomposition is poor, sure enhance it...but you do not want your residues to rapidly burn up and gone because of disease potential. Could be true in dysfunctional conventional farms

    • @soilcraft
      @soilcraft 26 дней назад

      Your point is valid for some instances for sure, but I'm not sure where you are located. In the PNW in Washington state we have a long winter period and you find that decomposition windows are not as long as you might like. The microbial decomposition we are describing converts crop residue into Organic Matter. While crop residues provide an important physical role we are really interested in converting them to OM. Thanks for your feedback, but I am thinking perhaps you misunderstood what we are doing.

  • @michaelpowlesland2224
    @michaelpowlesland2224 Месяц назад

    Hmm! That was very interesting but raised a couple of doubts for me. Firstly, is it fact that these decomposing organisms "infect" the seedlings environment? Also mother nature doesn't want to do it that way and it would make some sense that the food for the microbes is rationed throughout winter and spring and anything that doesn't get decomposed serves as a mulch for the hotter weather to come.

    • @soilcraft
      @soilcraft 24 дня назад

      Yes... organisms like Fusarium will in fact infect seedlings if they lay dormant. If conditions aren't good enough to germinate but there is enough moisture for the fungal organisms they will see the seed as a carbohydrate and amino acid source. If however... the seed is protected by beneficial organisms and it germinates quickly, it is now a living plant and the likelihood of an infection is much less. Especially if that seed had been grown with good mineral nutrition and beneficial microbes in healthy soil. The population dynamics in the soil are part of an ecosystem so it really ebbs and flows. Picture a Prairie... if the rains are greater, the grass will grow more. With more grass a greater number of buffalo can be supported. They will eat all that is available when it is available. They will multiply accordingly. They don't really plan and ration. The microbes are interacting with the environment. The rate of multiplication is dependent completely on outside conditions including temperature. With higher soil temps they reproduce faster. Also with more available food supply they do more work.

    There is only so much acceleration that can be achieved with inputs. Find the edge and stay as close to it as possible. Geoff Lawton has identified that it is at the boundaries where the best growth happens because the biodiversity increases between the two different ecosystems that are interacting and sharing. Nothing in Excess is the second virtue at the Oracle of Dephi, Know Thyself is the first. Both are connected to the observation and interaction with the world around us and within us, Great discussion, expanding peoples awareness, keep up the Great Work. #shattertheswarm

      Because of proper biological activity it sticks. This is also the way how humus slowly evolves. He sayed that happens if it's not treated...maybe not with pestizides etc. ...So biology catches up again & does it's job. Vs other field is treated and there it's unnaturally loose/not sticky. Throgh root exudates (sugars) bacteria also gathers around roots.

      Please take a look at our other videos on the Rainmaker earth AOP water treatment system. It is not good to have very tight soils. When soils are too tight plant roots do not get adequate air and anaerobic microbes 🦠 become mostly dominant which are not the best for mineralization and decomposition. There are some crops which have more fine root hairs and others, like amaryllis, that do not. What you are seeing is healthy floculated soil in the treated which allows for air and water to move through the soil and plant root growth is significantly better. The root mass in the treated is nearly double and the average bulb size is significantly larger in average. We see increased soil on fine root hairs in wheat for instance where we treat with Rainmaker as well as microbial teas and biostimulants etc. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

    Thank you very much🙏🏾This was extremely informative. I find it helpful as here in Arizona. We have many similar environmental issues you describe in this video regarding your soils in Zambia. I’ve been growing wheat for several winters here, amp grazing cattle in the winter on the wheat, and in summer using a Sorghum-Sudan based mix. Our wheat yields have been dropping for the past few years. We’re trying to stick to regenerative-organic principles as much as possible, and are planning to put in row crop blackeye peas, to bring nitrogen into the system and expand our agricultural products. I was originally thinking to use mechanical cultivation as we do have a lot of weed issues, including prolific Johnson grass… however, after listening to this video, and the priority put on keeping cover on the soil, I’m questioning if strip-till might be a better option…? Do you have any thoughts on this?

    • @soilcraft
      @soilcraft 3 месяца назад

      Thanks very much! Glad to have helped. I would say that anytime you can accomplish what is needed and still refrain from tillage we should. Tillage is a powerful tool and should be used when appropriate, but we try to use it when it is there is no other tool that can do that task. If you can to strip till over full width I think that's best. Keeping that soil covered is 100% essential. It is the #1 step in our regenerative principles.
