Harbour Molars Dunedin to Macandrew Bay | Morning winter drive | Amazing views | 4K
Theres alot of information about my family in there wish i never left but still hopeing to return
It is definitely a special part of the world
well what a great trip bought back alot of great times as I used to live at otakau I have driven that road a thousand times but what's with the speed limit 70klms that used to be open road speed can't people drive in Dunedin any more afraid they may end up in the harbour and looks like they have closed off pilots beach what a great place for a Sunday drive and picnic all the good times from being a child gone
I am not so sure people do 70 along there to be honest, truthfully I would end up in the drink if I did haha.... at least around those corners. What an amazing place for you to live though.
Thank you so much for covering this journey. ❤ I couldn't drive it. I would go off the road looking left at the beauty of it! It's stunning even on the overcast day, and It must be mind blowingly beautiful on a bright day - brilliant blue sky and ocean. It didn't look very windy, and so you might not have seen any Albatross flying? A new season on RoyalCam has started; egg has been laid & we look forward to a new chick in January. The only Albatross colony on a mainland anywhere in the world! And now, thanks to you, I know what it's like to travel to it! Thank you again. ❤❤❤
Thank you for watching, I thought you would appreciate it. Sadly I have never seen an albatross except from inside the museum here in Dunedin. I would love to do the full drive from Dunedin City out there, on a sunny day. It truly is a stunning view isn't it. Hopefully I can capture an albatross some day. Glad to hear there is another egg... 🥰
@nannajaysadventures I hope you are able to see an Albatross flying one day. ❤️
I used to love riding my motorbike down there 😢
Would be an awesome trip on a motorbike! Good memories
Interesting video
You finally went somewhere I have never been. The Brackens Lookout. I'll go there next time I'm in Dunedin..
I know there is much more to those tunnels then we will ever be told. But then I'm just a conspiracy nutter. Having declared that,,,,, i am in my 70s and found out i know nothing! Life is tough.
Ahhh... but being a "conspiracy nutter" means you question things and think outside the box.... keep being you 🥰
Dunedin a city I am eager to experience. See you soon
well it's great to see you back again in the 20years I been away the landscape has changed alot between Dunedin and mosgiel and lots of places have changed cheers 😊😊😊
Thank you...yes it is changing rather quickly
Stayed at the stables,my niece lives there .quite a few people live there .an yes its very beautiful
I've neve seen anything like that in Dunedin, Wiwi! We had a major rain plump here in Northatmptonshire/Bedfordshire a week ago. Some bridges across the Great Ouse are still closed, so we sympathise!
That sounds extreme as well. yes roads are just starting to open back up here.
I saw on the Albatross Centre's posting that it was closed because of flooding, trees across the road & parts of the road having slid away. You've documented very well how the rest of Dunedin has been affected by this terrible weather that is affecting all parts of the world. If the heat doesn't get you, the floods will! Take care Nanna Jay. ❤
I am not surprised, there have been a few land slips, as well as flooding, and its not uncommon along that section of road. Thank you! Yes, it seems the world weather is letting us know its there that is for sure. Thank you again for your support.
Wow, that’s scary! Please stay safe, Nanna Jay♥
Thank you I will 🥰
You have created another interesting "Tiki tour" video. I usually watch as soon as you post but I was busy and I read Bayfield so I wasn't too interested. As soon as I saw the turn up to Vauxhall and Waverley you got my attention and I was thinking are we going over the hill? Yes and along Tomahawk to Smails beach. A Takahe at Tomahawk lagoon. See Pukeko almost daily but I have never seen a Takahe. Then past my Grandmother house in Anderson Bay. Brilliant as always..
Thank you so much! I am truly glad you enjoyed this video
Thanks very much for this tour of my old stamping ground, Nanna Jay! I haven't lived in that area for over 30 years, but not a lot seems to have changed. I thoroughly enjoyed your cruise! 😀
Thank you! I am always so happy to show places people once loved.
Thank you. Another great video. You always have such lovely, very atmospheric music. I'm so envious of your blue skies and the colours at sunrise and sunset (as viewed on the albatross camera) are stunning. Absolutely beautiful.
Thank you! 🥰 ... I still have to do the drive to the Albatross Centre, thanks for the reminder. Life kind of gets in the way sometimes.
I used to love travelling over the back road from the Taieri/Fairfield area to Brighton. Great video!
I don't blame you, it is beautiful isn't it.
Thanks. This is the first time you have driven over a road I have never been on (Scroggs Hill road) and I am shocked of the views. What a gem . Next time I'm in Dunedin I'm going up there and the roads off it.
Thank you for watching 🥰its well worth the explore.
Used to live there in the 1970s sure has changed, parents were one of the first few to build around there!
@@amandafriel1865 certainly would be interesting to see for you.
I am Canadian. I always been fascinated by New Zealand. I am hoping one day to visit Dunedin. It is beautiful city. However, i would be in trouble trying to drive over there.
a decent home for Great-Great -Great Granny Jemima who landed in N.Z in 1865 . Hubby went to San Francisco her 3 little children went into Dunedin's workhouses and Jemima went to the Seacliff LUnatic Asylum. And that was how our family founded itself here in N.Z. The lot who stayed on farm in Owaka are still there living much the same way, I'm told
It has been 50 years since I left Dunedin, and the wonderful drive you took me on was pure bliss. I could recall many of the areas we passed along as I had attended Forbury school, Macandrew Intermediate and K E T C.. Thanks for the memories.😀🌈
This is why I do this, thank you for watching, I am glad I brought back good memories 🥰
Thanks for the video!
Thank you for watching 🥰
Nice one. Although it's my home town, I haven't been to Dunedin for 18 years, and following you around brings back great memories!
I am glad you enjoyed it 🥰
As always I enjoyed travelling along for the ride!
Thank you Wayne for watching ... much appreciated!
This may just be the shakiest footage found across all of RUclips
thats ok, you don't have to watch...but thanks for commenting 🥰
I remember that day we'll, I was working in Dunedin in the exchange area. We were all listening on the radio, couldn't believe it. Vic Crimp was the G.Island Mayor when I was a kid and sometimes drove for the Otago Road Services taking us to school in Dunedin . Vic was a kind, jolly guy. Terrible Tragedy ❤
would have been quite the shock...thank you for watching
Pretty cool Nana J, didn't have that when I lived there in the "olden days"
Thank you! Yes it seems a few events happen now which is good.
I just spotted my old band mate from Let's Get naked...He was the lead singer
thats cool! You have good eyes

This comment is for future me. See you in there again. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for watching
I know Long Beach very well, and have walked where you filmed 100s of times over a 40 period. I have never experienced anything unusual there. But there is a story in the book Misty Cliffs and I think on the board at the main beach entrance of a girl who fell down the cliff. She did not pass immediately but did a few days later. i thunk she was 13 or 14 years old. Just saying. Might be nothing related or could be?
Beautiful old English Trees are planted in the grounds...lovely to walk around in the summer
I must return, I do like Seacliff
Like to see a walk tour down prince about street please i herd it nice and nice vid thanks for sharing
Another great clip !
Thank you 🥰
There is no cover on the Octagon but some of the footpath in the middle do have the period type verandah thing under the trees. Those, shops you said must have been gone a long time.
Thanks for the video. Thinking way back to 60s & 70s I was generally heading north on George Street. That was before the one way system was put in.
It must have changed a lot since then ... thank you for watching
Wow, my hometown. Haven't been there for 30yrs ! It's changed !! Where's Penroses, Arthur Barnett & D.I.C ? LOL II can't believe 10km on George St ! Thanks for the blast from the past Nanna J ❤ And they've covered the Octagon ! Have you all gone soft down there !! No Tip Top tea rooms !!
🥰 You are more than welcome! Sounds like there has been a lot of change since you were last here
You should pout the year in the title. It will help people watching this in a decades (or more) time.
Thanks for this. Are you using the same camera as you use for your driving tours and is so, which one please?
Yes I used to use a Canon EOS m50 but find the good old GoPro works best
Nice wee trip thanks, what camera are you using, the recording is great.
thank you! I use a gopro 🥰
It's great to see what it's like across the harbour from the albatross camera on Taiaroa Head. It is very beautiful and I could live there! I'm trying to work out why there are no waves and the sea stays within its 'boundary'. Is it the effect of the spit and/or the mole? Do I seem like an ignoramus?!! I mean, that is the ocean you were driving alongside and yet it seems like a lake? And no, I haven't been drinking (!) and it's awful you've only got a few Likes for that wonderful drive. x
thank you! I do believe the harbour is quite sheltered and the spit has a lot to do with that :) You are not ignorant at all 🥰
That was a lovely walk. Really enjoyed it. Thank you ❤
thank you 🥰
Sweet, I have many fond memories of Dunedin. I went to High school there in the early 70s. My first full time job was at Green Island. I was am binge watching all your content. Many thanks
thank you I am glad you are enjoying it 🥰
Nanna, love the vids and the music. Do grant dalton street please
Thank you for this walk.Used to go here often in the 60's and 70's as a kid. Kayaked from bridge to henley as a teenager (~50 years ago). Before the floor in 1980 the road was at river level and went well past the first big corner. I was suprised how far above the river the "new"car park is. The amount of water that came down the gorge floated the centre to deck section off and down the river. Famous photo of driver sitting on roof of his truck further down stream. Can't find photo but here is link to ODT article of the full story. Very lucky man.
wow thank you for sharing that very interesting! I am glad you enjoyed thank you for watching!
Congrats for the video - this city remember San Francisco CA
We had a lovely meal in Bacchus on Otago Anniversary Day this year. Coming from Edinburgh it was very strange seeing so many familiar street and district names.
I used to walk that track lots as a kid growing up in St Kilda in the 1980s and 1990s. Memories. I moved away from Dunedin 13 years ago.
do you miss living here?
@nannajaysadventures I do some days.
I love your videos! You seem like such a nice positive person too. I'm moving to Dunedin in less than a month and sooo excited :)
it is a great community here I hope you enjoy it 🥰
