A bully stick is made of what?!? (and other interesting facts)

A bully stick is made of what?!? (and other interesting facts)
if my chihuahua just scooted twice today should I take her to the vet?
This guy is stupid.
So why do groomers do it by default
We tried beef hooves years ago. That lsted about an hour. A horrendous stench. No bad odor with bully sticks.
I just wish my rescued dog's original vet did things correctly. The vet I took her to said she appears to be spayed because there was a scar. Now, at 12 months old (had her for 4 months), she's showing signs of going into heat. So... I'll deal with that for a couple weeks and then have to find a capable veterinarian if she gets it again during the summer. Short of doping her up, there's no way to keep this border collie husky mix from wanting to jump or run in this cool weather. At least in the warmer weather, the heat mellow her out.
"One tied in a knot is little cruel for the bull" Thanks for the laugh 😂 Are they good for reducing tartar on dog's teeth ?
Glandex is fabulous. It has plenty of fiber and bulks up loose stools so anal glands can express on their own. It is created for animals and is safe. My dog has hip dysplasia and has pain posturing to poop and she also has looser stools because shes on canned food. Glandex has helped tremendously. It comes in powder and chewable bites. I buy the peanut butter flavor bites and my dogs eat them no problem. Way cheaper than constant vet visits. Groomers are not always good at expressing anal glands, so i only trust the vet. Im trying to learn to do it myself if needed but thanks to glandex its few and far between. Hope this helps someone.
Wolves dont need human intervention with this. Dogs dont either. Oh wait. Modern dogs are all genetically jacked up as well as their diets. Probably safer for humans to intervene on this topic. Maybe if we un jacked up the genetics and diet our modern dogs wouldnt need our intervention. Butt what fun would that be.
I table spoon of Metamucil won't be good for my 5 lb. Chihuahua
Hi! Any advice would be appreciated 🙏 I was walking my dog around some grass and dirt and he had a violent sneezing fit. it’s been 3 days and he is still sneezing lightly but more than usual for sure. he doesn’t paw at his face but sometimes he rubs it on the ground although he used to do that before. Ears are clean, one lower molar tooth has light infection that the vet gave an antibiotic for. He has light clear discharge and no other symptoms. Could it be a fox tail in his nose?? I’ve tried looking with a magnifying glass and flashlight and really can’t see anything. He is 17 and has heart disease so I don’t think a procedure is an option for him… thanks so much

My dog didn’t need it done for his first 12 years of life… he is 13 now and started needing it done… he will start whining and like asking to go out like he needs to poop (an even sometimes it can give him trouble pooping) … I try not to do it too often but I also do an externally so I don’t get 100% I get enough though for him to be comfortable. About once every two weeks all the sudden he’ll start whining and going in and out and just seem really restless and I’ll know it’s time! -and sure enough when he tells me it’s time I usually get one or two good squirts out. It shoots like over a foot at furthest point, and is pretty liquid-y compared to some of these videos I see… my vet says not to try to do it with one finger internal, which is fine by me lol- that way is also more uncomfortable/can be painful and without training I think it’s easier to potentially cause damage/harm doing it wrong or pressing too hard. I kind of push a bit upward from near bottom of glands and squeeze in, and I hold tail back with him on his side and he usually will actually kind of tense up in a way that makes it easier for me as it’s firmer on the other side of the glands and kind of helps push it out. He won’t tense up or lay in the right position if he doesn’t need it or if he has had enough. I’ve always heard what this video is saying to be true, that if you start having it done unnecessarily, there’s a better chance they’re going to start needing it done for them and it won’t just happen by itself. The doctor said for Sparky it could just be getting older. I am glad that I know how to do it successfully now though because sometimes it will be the middle of the night when he decides to tell me that he needs it and I hate seeing him so uncomfortable and like being able to do that whenever it’s needed, plus it’s not as important as his comfort but I do save a good bit of money if I start adding it up. I’m so glad I didn’t I have it done when he was young though it was nice not having that as an issue and especially nice for him really, for all those years. I hear that in addition to older dogs sometimes smaller dogs have a problem with it more likely, anybody know if that’s got something to it?
We use anal gland chews by Vet Classic he still scoots. Well my dog rubs his butt in a circle he goes round and round. Anyway we've taken him to the vet and the vet expressed them but still my dog scoots. I express them externally myself because going to the vet every time he needs them expressed gets expensive. I hv a beagle and they are known to hv issues with their anal glands. My vet showed me how to do it externally and if he still scoots we take him in to let the vet express them internally.
Hey, at least it’s a natural product. If humans continue to eat cows we mine as well utilize the entire animals for food for whatever will eat them.

Cut to the chase and hush.
I’m considering putting my dog on this food, has anything changed since this video was posted? All I want is what’s best for my dog…. But marketing 😭
I have a tiny 2-year-old Maltese (~5 pounds) whose anal area is so small that I’m terrified that he might get hurt if he ever needs his anal glands expressed. Fortunately there have been no issues yet, but this is something I will have to defer to his vet on.
Sounds like maybe if he needs it you could talk to them about doing it externally instead of internally. I will occasionally have the doctor do it internally just to get it 100% empty but I can do it myself externally and it takes me like 10 seconds when he whines and tells me that he needs it done and is uncomfortable. I’m sure the vet will know what to do and hopefully your dog won’t need it for a while mine didn’t until I was 12 but now when they get full it really bothers him, every couple of weeks all of a sudden he’ll start whining and just be really uncomfortable and I’ll know it’s time.
I'm so glad I watched this video, it put my mind at ease for the spay/neuter my intersex dog is going to be getting. Thank you for making this
Hi! My Shiba Inu has been leaking some anal green fluid. His poop is normal, but when he is ready to do number two it starts to leak. Do you think that is a concern or is it just expressing on its own?
My dog just had an IMPACTED anal glad and 105 fever. It was awful
My dog doesn’t scoot, lick, he has an iron smell sometimes fishy smell, but his glands are not swollen. What do you do in this situation?
I don’t think water or stuffed fur is an appropriate control group. It’s just not measuring like against like.
doc, this is extremely dangerous advice please remove this and edit. metamucil is not always safe for dogs and a tablespoon is way too much for small dogs. you didn't even say to wet it first or make sure pet has extra water. please redo this video before some doggy gets. hurt.
Dr. What do you feed your dog? This isn't a loaded question. What do you feed your dog? Because that is what I will my dog too. Truly, if you reply with answer, that would be awesome!

omg all he does all day is roll on the ground outside and walk through brush on walks, i would’ve never thought the flowers gave him perfume LOL, i was over here like wtf🤔
Thank you!
Very good information..thank you
This is why I don’t sleep or eat at anybody’s house that have animals. Just nasty foul beasts that need to be kept outside.
haha... and human beings are the cleanest ones.... how about getting lice, athlete foot, measles, flu, covid, a bunch of viruses, HIV, hepatitis, herpes, etc... Don't eat and sleep in someone's house even if they do not have pets. 🤣
Gosh people like you whose brains never switched on are not welcome at my home. You are disgusting. Your human child is more toxic and dirty than any animal can be. What a disappointment knowing this type of person exists. Why are you on this page ? Go away
I had to have surgery on my shoulder 5 months ago and ended up losing the use of my right hand. I had been doing my Bichon/Pomeranian’s anal glands her whole life. Now I wasn’t able to and she got an abscessed anal gland so I took her to the vet who said she had taken care of the abscess herself but that her anal glands were packed so she expressed them and flushed them at the tune of $150! A week later I wanted to check and make sure she’s okay and her glands are full again! Why? I can’t afford to pay the vet another $100 to do this again! I tried to do it but because I still can’t use my right hand I couldn’t help her. What should I do?
How is your hand? Here might be a networking instance. Remember, it's for the baby. Try to find a vet tech still in school as they would have the mind and way more than the basic skills to achieve this. Then pay them a third of what the company is charging. $20 for roughly 4 min of work is a lot And $20 extra for the gross factor. I hope you and your dog are well!
So tell us the name of the study that you’re claiming tests had random or fake results, tell us which brands were tested.
Omg, we’ve been wondering this for the last week or two…tons of California cudweed out in his regular field! 😮
My dogs right anal glad exploded out through his skin next to his butt hole. He’s a rescue/stray and I didn’t have any background on him. I never had his anal glands expressed or checked because the vet said it wasn’t needed. Four years later that’s when his glands got so full they ruptured. He had no symptoms ( butt scooting, licking, trouble passing stool). It literally got so full and couldn’t empty that it burst like cyst. Luckily the burst happed where I could see it externally and got him emergency treatment. It’s a good idea to always check anal glands from the outside to see it they are too full or swollen. If nothing can be felt and the dog is not exhibiting any symptoms then it’s safe to assume they are fine. Some dogs cannot express their glands on their own. It dangerous to tell people otherwise
Great advice ❤. Thank you 🙏
This is part of the reason I don't like to get small dogs. From what I hear it's pretty gross! It must be a genetic thing with certain breeds. Breeders should really try to breed out that trait. None of my dogs have ever had this problem. The smallest dog I've ever had is a Whippet. Most of my dogs have been the size of a German Shepherd.
All size dogs can have the problem trust me I’ve owned small med and large dogs and it can happen to any dog or cat!
So I have to do this for my cat because if I don't she gets constipated I don't do it for fun I do it when she's having trouble pooping
My opinion. Learn to do it from a good vet, it is expensive and not everyone can afford it and if they do it themselves could cause a problem
While it's not perfect by any means it's a starting point... Which is more than most vets give. I don't blame vets but I've argued with them about pumping allergy meds while still feeding the trigger...
This was not informative at all. I understand dogs express their glands naturally, but what is the actual reason why their glands should not be expressed other times? If it’s unhealthy for them, how so?
IQ of a walnut comment here. He said there are times when it is necessary. He's talking about people wanting to get it done just to get it done.
I think what he’s saying is that it just isn’t necessary to do this as often as people want it done. If a dog naturally wants releases their anal glands, it doesn’t make sense to express them often. For some dogs it’s stressful, and for people who don’t know what they’re doing there’s a risk of rupturing the glands from squeezing too hard. Ultimately it’s like bathing a cat. Most cats clean themselves and you really don’t need to bathe your cat unless they got into something like paint or mud, or if they are unable to bathe themselves properly. Otherwise just leave your cat be because most cats hate water and you just don’t need to do it.
I think people just want an excuse to stick their finger inside their pets
🙄🤦♀️ Seriously?!? Then why do most people pay someone else to do it?

If their sticky.. thank you for the interjection of comedy.
My vet would always check my dog's anal glands in case she had any excess build up in them. If so, he would express them. If not he would not express them.
I've already spent 1000s of dollars on medication to treat allergies on my dog, $100 more doesn't seem to be that bad to me anymore.
One question - How can fresh food not be better? Especially, if it is limited ingredients with all the vitamins and minerals necessary.
Can you please review the Farmer's Dog as well? Or do you have a list of food/brands that you do recommend for healthy, and maybe slightly overweight 4 yr old dogs?
Hey Dr. Evans, I have a very picky eater with allergies, I tried all dry dog foods to no avail; however, the fresh food option was the best for us. We were hoping to switch to JustForDogs from a previous Fresh Food option and wanted to know if you have any updates on the white blood cell issues? Is this a safe food for my dogs to eat?
Doesn't help in the middle of the night. Omg!
So continue to bring my dog to the vet and spend $400 a visit with only pills to go home with? 🤔 it’s been 5 years with the same lack of a resolution. I’ll spend the $100 on hopes to get way more answers than a vet has ever given me. It may actually help her.
Vet dermatologist!
Actually, I did one of the allergy tests for my Dogo. I changed her food to a different raw that didn’t have her sensitivities. All allergies are gone. No more itching, no more red skin, no more bumps, no more foot licking until bleeding.

Thank you! I'm opening a grooming shop soon and have been on the fence about whether this is a service I should offer.
That's disgusting AF.
Only if they are getting constipated having trouble pooping or having poop stick to anus
Is it not a medical procedure you'd have to be licensed for? I would check before offering it as a service at a groomer
You shouldn't be opening a grooming shop if you're using random RUclips videos as your source of medical information and education. Go to an ACTUAL veterinary clinic in person for legit advice.
Have researched a lot since this comment and have an informed decision, this video was helpful though, so there. Lol
I saw they cooked with chicken skin in just food for dog . That’s not healthy, high fat for dogs
