I’m planning on leaving. This place is competing with a hot piece of garbage. Have almost California home prices without the beach and good food. Nothing to do, food is slightly get better if you know where to eat. Overall Colorado isn’t worth it especially with the crime the governor and mayor have been sweeping under the rug

After four years in ugly Denver, I bought in the mountains and will never look back. Denver is just a blah Midwest city pretending to be in the Rockies.

My husband and I lived in various Denver suburbs from ‘13 through ‘17 and found it was not for us. We relocated for our jobs there and the minute I was able to relocate out I did. We had other friends that moved there shortly before we moved away and love it. I found that the pretension was very high, the beauty lies within the mountains and foothills but the city itself seems to allow bulldozing of any homes with character, and the cost of living didn’t match up with what you’re getting. I’ve lived in NY, TX, LA, MI, NV, CA, and OR and each place had its own feel, pros and cons, and works for different people. With that said, check out Denver first (which I suggest to do with any place) and see if it’s to your liking. You can always relocate as we have done if you find it’s not a fit.

I was born and raised in Colorado and oh my god in past 30 years it has gone nothing but down hill it sucks ..... bad politics are making it unlivable

We bought our primary residence (a flip) almost 10 years ago, and we've been bit so many times. The flippers bought the place on shortsale (foreclosure), and they hid a ton: extensive mold and water damage, foundation damage, badly encapsulated lead and asbestos, complete sewer line collapse. We've effectively spent the purchase price of the house in repairs in just the last 2 years. We even made sure we had 2 independent inspections. No one caught it. It wasn't until things started shifting and moving out of place that it became noticeable. 15 piers later, foam under the slab, all new floors and drywall, and we're still looking at having to do more. Likely another 6-10 piers and more drywall repairs. ---- All great tips for buyers and investors! I'd also suggest folks look at the surrounding neighborhood values before purchasing in a given neighborhood. If comps in one housing addition are 1.5-2x the price of another, there's a reason. Make sure you figure out what the reason is. It may be something as simple as one neighborhood being a bit more mature. Or it may the that one is built entirely on clay soil that shifts with the seasons.

I moved to Denver in 94, lived in a turn of the century, Capitol Hill apartment with 10 foot ceilings, and hardwood floors for 400 a month that I decked out with antiques. Made tons of money, went to shows and bars on Colfax all the time and ate out whenever I wanted. It was a blast, but started to get really yuppified and expensive, so I moved to greener pastures. I’m pretty sure none of the dozens and dozens of people I knew then live there anymore.

10 years ago they were all moving south to Colorado Springs. Now they leave Colorado all together.

You have to give a lot of time to the state in order to live. The more time state take the less likely you'll have kids.

Denver is now plagued with the same ills other US cities have. Hence no one wants to live there. Blue states in general are failing due to tyrannical left wing govt politics.
