What Movie is that haunted house music based on? That Episode was based on Movies known as The Amityville Horror, The Twilight Zone and The Raven!
I think, similarly, the music isn't directly based on any one film score, but rather loosely based on a few different scores and made to sound like something you'd hear in an 80s horror film. I've read that it bares a resemblance to the music from "Phantasm" and "Friday the 13th: The New Blood" .. interestingly enough Bart mentions the Friday the 13th franchise in the episode.
Oh also, the episode also takes from Psycho, Poltergeist and another Poe story.
